Excellent review. I love how you were talking about how us as audience members are starving for movies that don't take themselves seriously. I think it can be done, but it's a hard tone to hit. You have to balance out well written comedy with the ridiculousness.
I am seriously hoping Cocaine Bear heralds an age of drug-fueled animal-attack horror. It may not have been the greatest, but it WOULD be great if a whole bunch more outlandish movies get made as a result.

I take your word with lots of value in regards to comedies because I have agreed with a lot of your takes on comedies. I remember this was one of the few reviewers on the internet to think Dont look up was great and I agreed with that (did not think it was as bad as everyone said it was)
Cocaine bear seems to be reminding me of Unbearable weight of massive talent. Takes a ridiculous premise and has the one main joke but doesn't fully live up to its potential. It was still a good movie but it felt pretty basic.
Unbearable weight of massive talent was forgotten by the end of last year; I predict this will be forgotten by the end of 2023
The theater I saw this at was laughing a lot during this movie, myself included! It’s a very enjoyable crazy movie which is why it’s probably getting good reviews despite some flaws the film may seem to have. But yes, the bear is the star here
Was I the only one who tried to guess what the sign off line would be for this review? Mine's was "Would you do cocaine with a bear?"

If you want a funny cocaine bear bit, check out Nick Terry's MFM animated about the real story it's based on. It's only like 2 minutes but always makes me smile

Thanks, OE! 🐻 I just got back from seeing it. I found it to be modestly enjoyable for what it was... 90 minutes of fluff and flare. Your thoughts/criticisms are reasonable. My affinity for Keri Russell, Alden Ehrenreich and O'Shea Jackson, Jr. may have played a role in my enjoyment. I'd give it a 6.7 outta 10. #TheOscarExpert #ElizabethBanks #CocaineBear

No where near enough Bear time! The movie was horrendous. Terrible direction. Tonally everywhere and the direction of the humans was amateur as hell.
