Istanbul Fish Market Scam MUST WATCH

Please note, we have had an amazing first trip to Turkey and this was a one off. It has not put us off and in fact we have been back twice since this happened. Everyone we met and spoke to in Turkey was very friendly

Having travelled a lot I would like to think that I am aware of scams.
However it can hit anyone at any time.
I did my research before I went to the fish market and knew that once I have purchased my seafood I can pay 40 liras per person to have it cooked in the cafeteria next door, part of the same building.
The stall I am referring to is in front of you as you enter the fish market at the back wall and has the sign DERYA DENIZ BALIKCISI 2 written above.
Whilst we shopped for our seafood, the stall owner asked, take home or eat here? I replied eat here. If you ever go, make sure you take take home and take your purchase off the stall.
As I said eat here he handed my seafood to another person.
After paying for our seafood (700 liras) this guy then took us away, we walked past the cafeteria and I immediately asked where are you talking us?
He said to his restaurant... I said But I'm here for the cafeteria, he said that its full and I take you to my restaurant
I asked my partner in Chinese what should we do... I asked how much is the cooking fee? he said 100 lira per head, as the earthquake happened not long before we came, me and my partner thought it's not that much and thought it's ok, let's help them out. So we went ahead.
We was seated and we ordered 2 Turkish tea, a waiter came out with a menu and we declined. He took the menu in his hand then kept repeating sauce is good for seafood, I said we don't need sauce. We are Chinese and we eat seafood as it is... fresh.
He kept hounding us with this plate of sauce that my partner gave up and said ok.
As it was getting cold we requested If we could be seated inside... my god this building is not fit for a fire evacuation!!! It was a tiny staircase heading up a whole cut out in the ceiling and we was on the third floor.
We had our seafood which was fresh and beautiful and my partner insisted we go downstairs in the public to get our bill. Before we headed down we both agreed on 400 liras as we knew we'd got scammed... As we headed up a family said to us in English it's a scam and to get out.
The bill was nearly 900 liras!
50 lira each for Tea, 100 each for cooking then the plate of sauce which was in fact a Mezze Platter which was 420/480 (?)
I was fuming and refused to pay such silly prices...more than our seafood!
They tried to sell a mixed appetiser as a sauce.
They knocked off 100 liras at first but this 100 liras was a service charge on top of the 100 lira service charge per head to cook!!!
Mad wasn't the word, I eventually got this 900 lira bill down to 400 liras
