I had a Vasectomy 41 years ago. No big deal, a couple days of rest with ice. Best thing I ever did, no more worries of getting my partner pregnant and 1,000's of cream pies since.
@@edward6749 Cost me £200 here in the UK outside of London (the same clinic wanted £300 in London, so I went down to Brighton on the south coast), but that was nearly 20 years ago - allow for inflation!
I had mine done almost 28 years ago in the USAF. Cut, cauterized, tied in a knot, and tucked in the opposite direction (is what I was told). Complete success! If I recall, I wore large gauze bandages and a jock strap for a few days. I have ZERO regrets!
I had a vasectomy in 1998. I wish I could have watch this video before my procedure. It would have answered so many of my pre-snip questions. Now over 20 years later, I am glad I had the snip. Sex is more fun when I know I am only shooting “blanks”. Aka no pregnancy risk.
I got one in 1979 and I can tell you it still works OK. The first 6 months you may get blue balls but it goes way over time. The seminal fluid still flows. It’s just minus the little seaman (sailors). And a laugh at the manipulative women that try to claim they are pregnant.
I think the semen IS the fluid. The actual sperm are what's blocked. But yeah, unfortunately, my uncle fell for a girl who was not quite right in the head, and my cousin is the result of that O.o
@@delmarrey9077 looking through the comments it seems pretty clear that long term pain is more common than they say. Is it bad enough that your regret the vasectomy? I regret mine very much.
Might sound a bit odd but I'm one of those people who's not paternal, never wanted children. Had a V done 20 years ago just to make sex-life worry-free. A few hours at a local private clinic, drove home, everything healed ok, didn't think anything of it. Dentist is more stressful!
Got a V 20 years ago. Everything has always been very normal and I like the fact that I don't have to worry about pregnancy. It makes sex life more fun when there is no worries.
Quit lying. Men that have gone through it have a loss of libido. Anyone that says anything else is just coping. Chance are in the last 20 years you have close to zero sex.
Getting your family and friends involved is a little odd I guess everyone is different. Just get it done, ice everything so you don't get swelling, relax for 3 days, nothing strenuous for a week, and your good to go. Glad she explained the myths about them she is completely correct. Good video 👍
Agree, that was henke. The underwear outfit is sponsoring her. It's not the kind of thing you broadcast to friends and family IMO. Have the procedure on Wednesday and be back in the sack by Saturday. ICE PACK and a couple lazy days of inactivity is what you need, not underwear and frankly, what she showed I wouldn't be caught dead in.
@@x-man5056 I agree I wouldn't be caught dead in those weird underwear either. Exactly the urologist I went to he said use the ice and take it easy a few days which is exactly what I did. I know one guy who did not use ice or relax a few days. Instead right after the procedure he decided to just go back to work operating a cat on a logging job. Which was what caused his testicles to swell up like grapefruits. He said the pain/embarrassment from that mistake was worse than the vasectomy.
@@sswcustomsewing4276 Exactly. A friend of mine decided he could play softball game the day of the deed. The next day he had 2 hard "softballs" in his scrotum. Took him a week of pain to get back to normal with missed work. Hard headed macho/bravado makes men do the stupidest things sometimes.
@@smokey09i I don't see why a group of friends couldn't do that. If they did and decided to share their experience it might help or benefit other people in a positive way.
After my painless and quick vasectomy, I walked up to the front desk where three women were working and said, "Who wants to go on a date?" After they stopped laughing, one of them asked how it went, and I said, "If I had known it was going to be that easy, I'd have done it myself." It really is easy peasy and I highly recommend getting it done.
Just had mine done about 4 hours ago. It's not completely painless but it's not bad. The shot really is the worst part and it only last a second or two on both sides.
Got my vasectomy about 3 years and I cannot say how much am happy. My sex drive went on over drive and it’s like am 20 again. My family is complete. Best decision ever
Had mine done almost 27 years ago. Procedure was quick and almost painless. Recovery was fine. Only "down side" that I am aware of is that in my case when I ejaculate, volume is not an issue but it doesn't "shoot out" like it did before. This started pretty much immediately following the procedure so I have no doubt that the procedure is/was responsible for the change.
Definitely take it easy after. I was heavy into weight training at the time, missing a work out was unexcectable. I was back in the gym lifting heavy in a week. Big mistake. To this day 27 years later my nads are completely off limits. Yes take your time.
For anybody who's thinking about getting a vasectomy I did it about 15 years ago and the day after I had it I was back exercising with no pain whatsoever. I've had zero sexual issues and no problems. Of course I never did go in for fertility tests to make sure that it took they do recommend you do that.
@@leighbyford635 it sounds like whoever did it screwed it up because I had zero issues whatsoever and everybody that I personally know have had no issues whatsoever either
@Raymon Kravagna There is no correlation in data that shows technician or technique makes any effect on PVPS. It’s just a 2% chance to leave you in chronic pain. Look through the comments and you will find lots of people with chronic pain after vasectomy. One comment mentioned that he was ok but two of his friends ended up bankrupt paying for further surgery’s. It’s at a low figure 1- 2 % risk of developing chronic testicular pain. Latest meta study as of 2020 has it as high as 15%. It’s hugely ignored as it’s a “ uncomfortable truth “ as they say . Each study the rates increase as men from younger generations go to the doctor and complain more.
My recovery was about two days, sitting and watching TV sucks. I love the add for the men's underware. This was very informative and entertaining, Dr. Malik is awesome.
Had my vas 36 years ago. No problem during or immediately after. Everything healed well and no swimmers. Downside is, myth or not, reduced volume and no longer able to shoot like before, just a weak spurter. Nope not in my head, it changed with the procedure. No erection or desire issues. That was at least normal.
Got mine done 3 days ago. Went golf the next day. Bruising and swelling, should’ve started icing it down earlier, but the local anesthesia was great until it wore off. First day back to work was okay noticed swelling and some pain but not chronic. It was all the sitting that caused the pain because when I lie down. I feel great. Hope I don’t get that hemostat, but all in all looking forward to full recovery. Thanks for all the comments.
@@jabronipepparoni1585 all is good, but when I went for a checkup after swelling, the doc gave me some antibiotics which really helped. This was all within 2-3 weeks of the procedure. But after that, I everything is good. I’d say icing it down and maybe I should have taken a week or two to rest.
I work at a surgical center with a few urologist and the amount of vasectomies that cancel last minute, less than 24 hours before their surgery is amazing. So many guys get cold feet.
Highly recommended!!! Going on 16 years now. Only issue I found was achiness like slight blue balls for maybe 1-2 weeks afterwards as the body had to figure out plan B which is to reabsorb all those swimmers. Clear the plumbing daily for a month and then go get rechecked. After that, all set!
I just had a vasectomy in January. It was a piece of cake. If you’re really done having kids it’s the way to go. Don’t be worried about the pain. The pain level is actually very low. I broke my leg in 2019. I would much rather have another vasectomy than break another bone (hypothetically).
Great info, congrats on 1M subs! During my V, Dr commented my left vas was extra "big" or "thick" -- the right one, he to get a different cutter and it honestly took him a while to cut the right vas. Less than a week later I woke up with my right scrotum area red like a fire engine and it swollen the size my fist - big hands, just odd to see. haha. Had to take Cipro for a micro-infection for 10 days and all has been fine! Guys, I'm the 0.01% that had issues I guess, so get it done knowing I'm the one that had the issue, and you won't! So nice not to be concerned with pregnancy now.
Reminds me of couple that both were gonna be done but then made a deal so if they changed minds they'd be ok fortunately for them because later they decided to have few more little ones so they had to get their surgerys undone if you will lol it worked hes happy shes happy so I'm happy for them.
@@silverpawsiblings Yeah but like she said in the video it's probably best to consider it as a permanent change rather than have it done thinking it's reversible then if the reversal doesn't work you regret it for the rest of your life. I guess I should probably do my own research on the data concerning vasectomy reversals. Not that I'm planning on getting one anytime soon lol. I'm glad that it worked out for that couple you mentioned though.
@@Solomon-pg4mf right I'm saying this couple I know were both fixed but made arrangements in case they still wanted some more kids and so they had to have there surgery undone. But I'm glad it did to because sometimes doctors and surgeons tell you something is unreversable I don't buy things like that from doctors I mean even surgeons say that its impossible to reverse nerve damage after circumcision I don't believe it though.
@silverpaw siblings Yes it is . It’s 10k out of pocket. 3-4 hour operation. You then have to find a trained microsurgeon urologist that will do it for you. I had to fly all over Australia to find someone, the wait a year for them to be free. 1 month off work. 70% chance of patency but ignores all the men not even eligible for reversal as too much Vas has been removed. 5 year mark and over 50 % have reoccluded due to scar tissue. Even if sperm is returned to ejaculation , you may still be infertile due to “ anti- sperm “ antibodies now being created . That’s how sperm “ is re-absorbed “ it’s a constant immune / inflammatory cycle, that doesn’t stop after reversal. So it “ might “ be possible to reverse but it’s expensive, logistically difficult , painful and no better than a coin toss.
@@stubrown5123 Haha true. My best friend who I have known since we were in grade school he was a bit freaked out about getting a vasectomy. I told him I will drive you there and go with you. Your fertile all day. Every day. She's fertile 3 days a month. Buy her a reusable saliva tester and don't ejaculate in her 3 days a month. $20 as opposed to a life altering surgical procedure.
Seriously look up PVPS. It’s 1-2% and it cannot be fixed. I have lived in constant pain for 7 years. It ruined my sex life. Huge toll on my marriage. My advise is do not do it!
I had a vasectomy at a young age and also started having low testosterone at a young age. I have always wondered if it was connected. I asked my doctor once and he didn't have a clue. I do remember the Vas deferens swelling with fluid afterwards. I wonder if that backup could have caused the testicles to quit working the way they should. Somebody should study that.
That was the best thing that I ever did. I had mine 27 yrs ago and they snipped, tied & cauterized my tubes. I totally recommend it over any other type of pregnancy protection. My only con for the procedure was for me a very sensitive vas tube on the left side, other than that same volume, same intense orgasms, according to my wife same flavor and same hardness.
I had a vasectomy & honestly it was no big deal. The procedure was nearly painless & quick and recovery was uneventful, hell I even went to work that night & woked a full shift. He's my biggest tip, wear a jockstrap (no need for cup) to restrict movement until the incision site is healed. Ice & ibuprofen to reduce swelling. It's really not a big deal guys, honestly. My only downside is it seems my scrotum is more sensitive to impact than before. If you have small children, you know these impact happen more often than others may believe.
liked and subbed as I recently got this procedure done. One suggestion for your channel is to normalize the volume levels - your voice is fine but then the clips (while quite clever) are 10x as loud. Thank you for such good information regarding male issues and advice.
I just got home from my scrotal ultrasound as I’m still having pain on the right side from my vasectomy 3 months ago. My doctor thinks it’s an issue with the titanium clip, but I had so many issues with stitches not dissolving on the right side only that I think it may be a retained stitch. I should get results next week and either way it’ll likely be resolved by a second surgery. Just wanted to share my experience. The pain is not terrible, just constant discomfort. At least I am tested sterile though. I just worry that I will have chronic testicular pain.
Dude That sounds like PVPS. I have it. I have spent 15k on follow on surgery’s, can’t be fixed. Just a constant uncomfortable 3-4/10 testicular pain that never stops and is worse on inter course. I have had pvps for 7 years . Hope I’m wrong.
@@leighbyford635 I hope it isn’t, the ultrasound showed a hydrocele which might need surgery but could also go away in 6-12 months. I still need to look at it with my doctor though so we’ll see. Best of luck to you
@@mfitkin my vasectomy gave me a hydrocele too, still have it. That and varicose veins over the scrotum. They either damage the lymph or venous return in some way . I tried removing clip , then bilateral reversal , then ablation. Nothing helped
Thank you for bringing up chronic scrotal pain. I was the 1%, and was never told about this risk. It made my life horrible for YEARS. Finally I went to a different urologist who treated me with a "cord block" and I can live my full life again. Also, in full disclosure, the feel good "tingling" sensation in my testicles during ejaculation stopped after my vasectomy. I know that mine was a "closed" procedure where the vas was tied off on each end and cauterized, which meant sperm have to be absorbed through the blood rather than released, and I am curious if other men have noticed the same? And does it make a difference is the vasectomy was open or closed?

I have no idea if mine was open or closed to be honest. It ached for about a week but other than that it’s been business as usual for me. I feel no different.

Can you make a video about reversing a vasectomy? I know you just said to consider this permanent. But if you did get one and had a life changing event, and wish you hadn't what is the process? What happens afterwards etc..?
@@leighbyford635 that’s messed up because you are the exception but my jaw has been dropping when I dig deep and hear actual urologist say things like “some reports say 1 in 6”, “I’ve seen reports that show up to 15%” and I’ve also heard from a urologist that 1 in 10 will have mild discomfort that’s not debilitating indefinitely and 20% will have occasional pain now and then??? This is not the sugar coated 1% you get from the surface by Urologist. I also heard a urologist say, “your testicles don’t know you had a vasectomy”. If they don’t know then why are they sore afterwards?
@@adamx6000 Well " they don't know " is poor language on the MO side. Testes just keep producing sperm. That's all glands do is make a substance that your body requires. Para-thyroids for example can be removed from your neck and placed into your arm and they will continue making Parathyroid hormone. Medicine uses a term : Differential diagnosis " E.g if you have severe head ache the differential will include High Blood pressure, aneurysm, trauma etc. Then the Dr narrows it down to find the root cause. The differential of chronic pain in vasectomy is raised epidydimal pressure, nerve entrapment, ischaemia, nerve damage, chronic inflammation. Issue is they cannot narrow it down more than that. So treatment is a " crap shoot " so to speak. An expensive one. One issue is epidydimal back pressure. You block the exit and the epididymis pressurises and will usually rupture - multiple times , for ever. Hence the pain can come and go. Or it can never go. 1% is certainly not true. It was quoted as .1% only 8 years ago, then 1% now its 2% but as you say some papers have it at 15%. I suspect its likely 1/10. The entire thing is a bullshit. If you haven't had one, my personal advice is do not! I'm 45 and its the only thing I truly regret, like every day. On top of 20k out of pocket I can no longer enjoy sex, or play sport. It nearly ruined my marriage and has taken a lot of Psychological help for me to get to the point where I feel I can live again. I wish you the very best for your future :)

Had a vasectomy in 1983. The first cut I felt and screamed out STOP!!! The doctor gave me another shot afterwards. The damage was DONE. I’m scarred for life. Could not understand how this could have happened.
My vasectomy went terrible. It was 30 years ago and I still wince when I think about that day. It was the end of the day and the Doctor seemed a little old to still be doing this. It started with the Doctor taping my unit to my stomach before poking me the nuts with a needle for novocaine. Yes, it was very painful. After going numb the Doctor seemed to be having problems with one of testicles. Then the Doctor says" have you have had any medical problems down here" as I can feel him pulling on my nut sack. I said" No Doc what's going on?" He replies" I can't seem to get this one" as it feels like he is pulling on my tonsils through my nuts. On the way home I asked my wife to stop for a 6 pack. She handed me one and I put it on injury and asked for another then finally cracked the third one. It's about then that the valium finally kicked in.
This is a great video! But I wonder if there's a procedure that can be done for retrograde ejaculation. I'm diabetic and that's most likely the cause but I am still trying to have children. Hopefully there's something!
I got my vasectomy way back 1980, I walked into the Dr’s Office, went to the back room dropped my pants he said to lean back against a desk he shaved and numbed the area a couple of quick cuts and snips tied and cauterized, then put platinum clamps on the severed ends. sewed me up gave me a Kotex to wear for the rest of the day and some pain script. $100.00 later I walked out and that was that!
Had it done after 2nd daughter. 1st the needle, they said will feel like a bee sting. They were right! Then all you feel is some pulling and tuging. No big deal. After was black and blue for couple days ,little sore but no big deal. Now I can sow all the seeds I want with no worry about them germinating! Oh, after when you take a semen sample back in to check if all's well I had to give the sample to a girl who I knew from school days! Had a good somewhat embarrassing laugh that day!
Thanks for the video. Yes, I had my vasectomy 16 years ago and it was one of the best days in my life, despite to have had that one in hundred cases of complications (my testicles did not absorb the produced semen and were swollen for months). I had complications after my vasectomy, I had to get cut open again about 11 days later and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. One star, dont recommend.
I had my vasectomy when I was 27 (32 years ago). It was a walk-in-the-park! No pain or discomfort and I was back at work the next day. Many men (none who had actually had a vasectomy, BTW) kept saying that it would affect my sex drive negatively, and I can say with confidence that this was, and is, NOT the case! On the contrary, I found that my sex drive actually increased, although I think this might also be psychosomatic as I was not concerned about getting my girlfriend (now wife) pregnant. Best thing ever!!!
I had a vasectomy over 20 years ago, should have taken a day off from work and needed to ice them up the next day and all was well. The real pain came 2 and a half years ago when I underwent a reversal and they swelled to the size of grapefruit. 30 days of pain and sleeping on a recliner or on the bed with two pillows between my legs to keep them apart. Now I have a wonderful little boy.
I got mine done when I was 25 years old. I argued with the urologist about having a reversal. I said cut and burn, if I want children later I will adopt. I already had one boy and one girl. Guys you have had more pain from other injuries this is easy procedure and less financially costly. Upside? Sex everywhere and no scare of the pregnancy happening. 23 years and zero problems here guys step up and play ball.🤣🤣
Getting a vasectomy was the worst decision of my life. I lost my wife and my man hood. I did it at age 27, a little over 16 years ago, I noticed a big difference in the way ejaculation felt and my overall energy immediately afterwards. I lost all my testosterone and it feels weird and dulled in a uncomfortable way when I ejaculate. I can't explain the feeling. You would have to feel it yourself. The only time I feel normal is when I'm taking testosterone. Which I had to start doing at age 29 because my levels were so low. The wrong feeling I get with ejaculation has never went away and I'm now 43 years old. This happens to other men too. Look it up before you talk trash. Please, please look it up before getting one!
How did you lose your wife?. My wife is like its pointless having sex if you can't have children! We have sex but not as much. Probably gonna get it elsewhere.
Just had mine yesterday. The worst part was hearing the snipping and clamping. My nerves were shot just thinking about it but the doctor did a great job of talking to me to calm me down. No pain at all except for the initial pinch from the needle. Got some ibuprofen and an antibiotic but no swelling or real pain so far.
Had one 3 months ago. The guy I saw was a family doctor and not really a Urologist. Everyone told me "Simple and easy! small pinch and 5 minutes and you are done! Was over 30 minutes beginning to end, nearly passed out from that first injection which was NOT a small poke. Was not an easy 3 days for me. Was out of one job for 2 weeks (Well one week i already had for vacation time setup. Took 8 days before i could walk normally and 12 before i was able to have any kind of sex or start the "Cleansing" period. 3 months later every single ejaculation hurts. Any kind of tugging hurts. and has actually gotten worse over past 3 weeks. Before i would just feel a pain in my testies but now i'm getting a pain of what feels like the Vas Def from the cut all the way to my bladder. Called doc up, wait just ice it, make sure you wearing something to keep them tight (Started wearing Boxer Briefs due to this and my wife loves them on me XD), and some ibuprofen. It helps a little but not a lot. Sex feel better than doing it myself as the skin isn't being tugged on as much but yea. It sucks. Had I know it was going to be like this I wouldn't have gotten it or gone to someone else. My doc just had me go to this guys because all their Urologist are months out due to Covid stuff.
This may be another short video topic for you. What is involved with sperm aspiration, or harvesting, and IVF as an alternative to a reversal? What are the success rates with getting an acceptable count needed for IVF?

My vasectomy was pretty traumatic. The first attempt was in a doctor’s office and he couldn’t extract the vas far enough to snip it. So, I went to a urologist, who had to put me under general anesthetic to perform the procedure. After the surgery, my wife told me that the surgeon was practically green around the gills after all the tugging he had to do.
All good here . Plenty of liquid occurs. Especially if you drink water first to stop it being so claggy. Worst bit for me was seeing the needle go down there to numb it. Took about two weeks for the swelling to go down. Then a gentle couple of self tests. And off I went. Get checked every year just in case.
Hey, I finally made it into the 99th percentile of something. I have had chronic pain in my right-side scrotum/testicle right from the get-go. I also have had a soft lump, almost like a squishy testicle, there. The surgeon that did it denied that I should be having any pain and told me that I did something wrong to cause the "lump."
Read through the comments over the years and see if you still think that chronic testicular pain after vasectomy is 1%. There is no way it’s 1%. Some meta studies have it at 15% I have had chronic testicular pain both sides for 7 years. Spent 15k and had 3 more surgery’s. Worst thing I ever did .
It’s been 20yrs for my 2 Vasectomies. Six months after my first one the boy’s knotted themselves together, thank god I took in a sample. After the 2nd one I had excruciating pain and ended up back at the clinic for more pain meds. I actually had to have an ambulance return me home. Since that day I have had chronic testicular pain during ejaculation. I now see that I am in the 1% group.

I’ve gotten a vasectomy over a year ago and it was the best thing I ever did. No regrets
How was the pain / recovery for you … how’s the sex ???

Ive been going back and forth on this topic for the last couple years alongside my wife so this is great info.

I might want to go in just for the tugging 🤔
It was one of the best things I ever did and I had ALL of the side effects.
Thanks for the video. Yes, I had my vasectomy 16 years ago and it was one of the best days in my life, despite to have had that one in hundred cases of complications (my testicles did not absorb the produced semen and were swollen for months). Yes, if you are sure not wanting to be a father again, do it, never look back, be as happy as you can be. MS
I wish I didn't have so how do you keep a direction wow having sex with your partner I think it makes a difference to have a hard erection when you want to make love with your partner I wish I didn't have mine done I would like to reverse it
it would also be great to note that they’re reversible up to 20 years or longer after the initial procedure.
I had complications after my vasectomy, I had to get cut open again about 11 days later and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. One star, dont recommend.
LoL never once have I ever thought to myself,, HEY IT"S MARCH I THINK I"LL GET A VASECTOMY
99% anxiety, 1% the actual procedure.
Dr Rena I love your work keep up the awesome videos!
Your editing skills are getting very good.
So you can definitely say this happen exactly after? What were your immediate symptoms right after?
@@adamx6000 my wife thinks sex is all about babies. 😂
Mine ruined me too.
Has it improved since you posted this comment?
best thing i ever done and painless.
This may be another short video topic for you. What is involved with sperm aspiration, or harvesting, and IVF as an alternative to a reversal? What are the success rates with getting an acceptable count needed for IVF?
This was funny & informative. Thank you very much Dr. Malik!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A friend did vasectomy and never told his numerous cheating girlfriends until some started coming claiming they were pregnant for him while he laughed at them 😂
Lmaoooooo
I had mine on 1st may 2023, the incision has already started healing on the fith day after the procedure,
No pain just some dull ace at the pelvic area that i can control by use of ibrufen.
Its a nice thing,in readiness of sending empty packages.👊👊👊👊👊👊🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯
My doctor said he could freeze some semen for the future. I told him I didn’t think I could fill one of those ice trays up.
I got a vasectomy and it changed my life forever. it has made sex so much more comfortable and enjoyable.
Been 25 years, after I got mine my balls swelled up to grapefruit size and junior was a a zebra for a whole month and over. Spontaneous sex is great but the Happy Ending was and is a little lackluster! I would not go thru with it again that’s for sure.
My orgasm was so diminished .
First 2 years it also caused extreme pain.
I joined the club 7 years ago. Got it done on a Friday and was back at work on Monday. I didn't even take any pain pills. Anytime I felt discomfort, I'd take a shot of whiskey and I was fine.
I had it done years ago & I’ve never been so terrified . . . . the “tugging & pulling” she talked about was the worse bit !! . . . Don’t step off any tall sidewalks for a few days . . . She may well understand to technical side but not the fear of the thought of it !! 🥴😢 . . . . Incidentally, she’s gorgeous . . . Jim in the Southwest of England U.K.
No me digas!! El video era excelente!! Te amo
I want a vasectomy 👍🏽👍🏽no kids means no child support lol
My vasectomy was pretty traumatic. The first attempt was in a doctor’s office and he couldn’t extract the vas far enough to snip it. So, I went to a urologist, who had to put me under general anesthetic to perform the procedure. After the surgery, my wife told me that the surgeon was practically green around the gills after all the tugging he had to do.
oh my!!!!
Some meta studies have it at 15%
I have had chronic testicular pain both sides for 7 years.
@Randy Tews sorry to hear it
I’m more and more certain that it’s not 1%
My guess is 10%
