Thats fine but, if you remove money from the equation this is better. Its better because in cycling cities they only ever cycle 3km on average. If you are cycling any more than that, e-bike or not youre being fed a load of lies. With this thing, you could get a phonecall "your kids in hospital on the other side of town", no problem hop on and off you go, you can pop home and pick up some pjs for them.
You can do it on the e-bike, but you will get tired, you will get miserable. You can cycle to the sea for a swim, but you might be too tried by the time you get there to get in, get on this and youll be fresh for your swim.
Trust me, I ride bicycles everywhere, and the last minute "Hey, want to pop out to place-x" are the ones you never do, not after cycling 10 km to work and back, then an hour cycling to go for a swim, then a phone call that someone is free on other side of city want to do something? well at this point youre thinking about jumping in the car or not going.
With this thing i could pop out to the fish mongers at the sea town, into the city, out for a swim, out to a relative, into work, etc. I 100% promise you, that you wont do all that on an ebike.

BMW complaining that the market is not ready, no, they are not making practical bikes for the market, it is simple really, the brand which has realistic range, real world top speed and a good price point for your average rider wins. Truth be told bikers rarely ever buy new anyway, those who do are usually late boomers or people with disposable income later in life, for the rest of us we choose bikes based on value for money.

It looks great, feels quality, has heaps of character and would be so fun bombing round a city or neighbourhood again for all the reasons you mentioned. I think it will sell really well too.
Also to all those grisly comments, it’s not a motorcycle so don’t compare it to one. It’s not a Honda cb500x but around the city it looks 1000x better and would be more fun. Why so miserable and cynical? You don’t have to buy it.

Aside from looks, it is hard to justify this against a 125cc.
I’ve had both a Vespa Elettrica and a modern Vespa 125cc. The Vespa 125cc is around half the price of this BMW, has built in secure storage, and has averaged 150mpg over the 5000 miles I’ve had it.
The emissions are non existent on an electric, but they’re also tiny on a 125cc - so there’s not much of a gain in that regard, and a 125cc is still massively more eco friendly than most cars.
The range on this BMW is quoted at 95km, or 59 miles. 20-80% charging represents 60% or a range of 35 miles, and it takes 2.5 hours of “fast” charging to get that?

I could see this being great if you work less then 5 mile to and from work. Personally I have the chance to toy with one. It’s an adrenaline rush. It’s capable of whip lash. Price is a bit steep tho $6,000 should be a solid price point tho. Light enough to load in a pickup truck and take with you on vacation for fun local rides. There is great potential for this and not having a heavy bike to load and unload. Personally I would buy one. I have bed ramps. Could load this solely by yourself. No need for another set of hands. It’s simple has a reverse to get in and out of truck beds alone lightweight. Maybe low range for most people but as a cruiser around town on vacations will save you money in gas. To me that’s a win. Would I leave it unattended probably not. 99% in the bed locked up but this is a first step and chance for a giant leap if priced right. For having a smaller light bike to take locally

I'm not sure how you'd chain it up to prevent theft due to the wheels. This bike unfortunately fits the "toy" of the rich than the average biker. An electric bike is far better value and you can bring it inside a building off the street completely out of sight of thieves.

This is a pointless waste of cash. If I am ever to buy an electric bike it needs to accelerate like a missile and have some decent range.
