At his level of shooting he would have known exactly what he did wrong as soon as he saw the monitor. I bet I know what word he used to describe it. Watching those flags on that match was interesting. One would sit down, and the other would blow. Then they would switch. Crazy how many of those .30 cal bullets found the V at 1,000 yards! Good shooting by both.
These elevation shots do not seem to be wind or stick holding, most likely recoil management. There is no contact with the stick as he fired, if anything he opened his hand. Just that much too close to shoulder.When that happens there are usual 12 o'clock or 2 o'clock flyers and Drew had both of those patterns
If you watch closely Drew pulls up on his joy stick when his high 3 popped up. One of the reasons most benchrest shooters don't let go of their joy stick when shooting groups. As you mentioned follow through is super critical and could have been a contributing factor. Keep'em Small and congrat's to both for making it that far. Still amazing shooting!!!
I know most of the top TR shooters prefer the joystick bipods but there is a learning curve to them as well. I think Drew’s 3 came from a joystick error.

Agree with shoulder too close.
Springs in the Joypod push up if the stock hits your shoulder in the first 1/2" of recoil.

Calling the number of shots on score. 5 on means 5 shot’s completed for score.
