Notice the smiles on the band. They call her The Boss.
The band leader was smiling because she called her changes her wishes.

Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina.
    Let’s analyze the video:
1st you see how small and cute she is.
2nd you see she is barefoot (story below)
3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song.
4th the band leader taking note of the changes.
5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it.
6th the old soul in her voice.
She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on TH-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a TH-cam video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on TH-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On TH-cam, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go". On July 23th she released her orginal EP “Old Enough”.
Angelina perform Concert at the Music Hall in Portsmouth New Hampshire on Sept 22nd, 2023. It Was a great concert, who was not and could regret it, a big mistake.
On 10/27/23 she released her new orginal singiel “Our Time”

@@ThePentagenarianContrary to what many fans believe, she was not 6, but rather late 7 or early 8 years old when she did I Who Have Nothing in studio. That can be determined by looking at the state of development of her permanent teeth and comparing that to known references like her NGT performances. I explain that in more detail in a community post at my channel.
While I don't expect you to make your mind up on this this early in exploring her music, I would really appreciate it if you would just not repeat that rumour, or at least give both opinions on her age.

Sir, this is realy her "wildest" video, age 9. The "beginning of her, being known, was at age 7, with her performance "Gloomy Sunday" at Norways Got Talent in 2014. It went viral and in Asia she was a superstar while in the rest of the world, she was mostly ignored. A blessing in disguise for her family and her. The family wanted her to have a normal childhood, or at least, as normal as possible. Lots of companies and labels wanted her, but her parents nixed it, even for Disney. What they allowed her to do, was performing at charities, the Nobel Peace Prize, singing for the Obamas, as long as the money went to charities.
Her dad is an engineer in an international company and earns well. So no need for her being a moneymaker.
    Sir be safe and sound.
    Sincerely, Elmar from Germany

I was told a lomg time ago, the musicians recognized her, the moment she began to sing. If you watch the standup bass guy,one moment he smirks, then she begin singing and he suddenly works with all his heart. For them, as I mentiioned in the last video, she was their National Treasure, their music genius and their Scandinavian Superstar. They truly felt deeply honored, to work with her.

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this!
"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video).
You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Angelina is definitely a piece of work, isn't she?
The band knew who she was (she had already won Norway's Got Talent) and was honored to play for her. (She helped arrange the song for the band.)
She literally has hundreds of songs on video's and this particular one will always stand out because of it's incredible uniqueness (she was 9 when it was recorded).
The tone of her voice carries a soulfulness which our hearts embrace and once there it will never leave us. As time passes you will understand there is a lot more to Angelina than her extraordinary voice. You will find out 'who she is' as a wonderful human being and it will give you a good idea where that soulfulness comes from.
Let me formally say to you, "Welcome to the wonderful world of Angelina Jordan!"

    Loved your reaction.
Amazing performance by 9 year old Angelina.
This song is not quite the beginning. She entered Norway’s Got Talent at age 7 and won, having turned 8 by the end of the competition. She did several performances and a few recordings after that before this song. There are also videos of her a little younger at her school studio but Norways Got Talent can be considered the beginning as it’s her public debut.
Regarding the musicians, they were well aware of who she was. In fact the trumpet player accompanied her on her Norway’s Got Talent winning performance of Summertime.
Angelina is primarily self taught. No singers or musicians in her family. Her jazz fan grandmother introduced her to the music at a very young age. By age 2 or 3 she was studying the jazz greats on you tube videos. Billy Holiday was her biggest early influence.
She has been writing songs since she was about 10 and recently stated that she has written over 100 songs. To date she has released 12 originals including a 6 song EP called Old Enough this past summer and a recent single, Our Time.
Now 17, her original music has contemporary elements but also some jazz stylings especially in her vocal techniques.
Now that she has graduated from high school she is ready to burst onto the scene.
    Enjoy your journey.

I'm not sure if the band members knew about her before this, but she was already well known in Norway for winning Norway's Got Talent a year before. There is a video of Angelina jamming with this band and singing another of Screaming Jay Hawking's songs, Portrait of a Man (renamed Portrait of a Child). She took to jazz as soon as she heard it from her grandmother, a great jazz lover and professional artist. She does exactly what she wants musically, and has a plan to become a superstar. She is already well along that particular road!

The musicians already knew Angelina very well, as she was already a national treasure in Norway. Angelina, as she always does, created her arrangement, which was very much a tribute to the original, Screamin Jay Hawkins. The musicians lovingly called her "the boss" since she knew how she wanted to sing the song and made sure everyone was on board. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for my all time favorite musical ARTist.
Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway.

Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always desired to be.
I encourage others to use this biography to help educate others about the love, empathy, magic and beauty that is Angelina Jordan Astar and her unique music.

Angelina has said many times if there was no Billy Holiday, there would be no Angelina. Her Grandmother, an artistic prodigy in her own right, introduced her to jazz at age 1 1/2. As to the session musicians that worked with her on this, they fondly called her "The Boss" as she was definitely calling all the shots!

She started in public about a year earlier. She was still 7, when her Glommy Sunday audition at Norway's Got Talent got recorded, though she turned 8 by the time it was broadcasted.
I guess she was very well known afterwards in Norway, as she won the show.s

New words would have to be invented to define what this little child... young... musical prodigy, did in front of a microphone between the ages of 8 and 11. I recommend that you listen to 'What a difference a day makes', her first public performance after winning NGT, then you can continue with 'Fly me to the moon', her presentation in the USA (The View). At 9 years old you have already heard her, and anything you find at 10 years old will leave you speechless.
From that moment on, her maturity was exponential, and since her participation in AGT at the age of 13 (Bohemian rhapsody), she has given us some truly exceptional pieces. Greetings.

Thanks for the nice reaction, this song is one of the important steps to understand the singularity of Angelina's talent. It's unreal like her, from a very young person, she choice to use her incredible passion and understanding through music in a splendid way, especially for these legendary songs. She is definitely the only 9-year-old girl who understands and has the courage and the ability to sing this song from Screaming' Jay, so imbued with his power, and reorganize it according to her musical sensibility and vision. I sincerely believe that this it's the most beautiful version of this song, over 60 years since it was written and there are much of versions of it, also interpreted by great singers. Her phrasing, backed by her wonderful use of breath, always fascinates me and gives me chills every time, despite the fact that she has listened to her hundreds of times. 💛🧡❤

A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice.
She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener. In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the pianist, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. In the band, she was called a boss.

By the way... there are multiple videos where you see her adult musicians react to her voice during a performance... showing signs of amazement or transported delight.... you see this for example in her concert with the Norwegian military band at 12 (just watch the first clarinetist or even the band director/conductor) or her covers sung with guitarist Ivan Mendez at 12 - such as "Stay"... or even a little fun session with her pianist/guitarist Steffan during a Christmas concert where Angelina (at 11 I think ) improvises a line to his complete delight...

This is simply a masterpiece of Music by a 9 year old child....one music teacher and vocal coach exclaimed that this should be studied in music classes for child singers. This one will live on in infamy if not in the music Hall of Fame. She is an student of all the Jazz and Blues singers from decades ago, thanks to her Grandma Mery (Iranian Poet and Artist) who exposed her to these great artists of the past since she was a toddler...Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Louie Armstrong, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra....just to mention a few. The actual beginning is her 4 performances on Norway Got Talent starting at 7 years old....she won competing against Adults at age 8. There is also a video of her singing Whitney at age 18 months. One of her first "studio" recordings is a age 6-7 singing, "I Who Have Nothing", simply unbelievable. : This is a enhanced video of this song by one of her biggest fans, Kaleidoscope RMx (original is a cell phone recording by Grandma Mery): th-cam.com/video/OtPkxHf_r0M/w-d-xo.html

The fact that she then has an outstanding fantastic voice and theatrical body language only makes everything even better. The musicians are also amazingly good. They give everything to complete this masterpiece! This little Norwegian girl reads the English lyrics while singing! She is from Norway and they speak Norwegian there. English is Angelina's 3rd language! Already at 5-6 years old, she understands exactly what is meant in the English lyrics! Incredible!

This band was familiar with Angelina before they entered the studio because she practiced this song with them! Because this was her own arrangement of Screamin' Jay Hawkins original, they affectionately referred to her as "The Boss" (although she is VERY humble). She had been performing publicly since she was 7 years old when she auditioned on Norway's Got Talent with Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday." After performing 3 more songs during the audition, Billie Holiday's "I'm a Fool to Want You", Cher's/Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang", and George Gershwin's "Summertime," she won the competition when she was 8. Even before this recording, she performed Dinah Washington's "What a Difference a Day Makes" at an outdoor public event, Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon" on the TV show "The View", "At Last" by Etta James (one of my favorites) during a fund-raising telethon for children, plus a few more that I don't remember off the top of my head.

Thank you for featuring Angelina a second time, I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on TH-cam, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener.
This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original.
There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below,
    (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
    (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers.
    (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it.
    (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player.
    (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
    (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted.
    (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song.
    (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time.
    (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
    (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody.
    (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying.
    (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella!
Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

The 8-12 year old Angelina is still my favorite. Because she’s young and remarkable. And it’s unexpected. And magic. As she’s become a young adult she’s still a great singer with a unique voice but she loses the magic of the little girl singing old songs that create this fuzzy nostalgic feeling in people over 50. I do like her 6 song EP very much and look forward to her full album release hopefully soon. She released an album at 11 years old called It’s Magic accompanied by the Norwegian military band. It has many jazz standards. It’s still one of my favorite listens

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. The spoken language is Norwegian: th-cam.com/video/80f3t3dmBbk/w-d-xo.html

Hi my friend, nice that you took another look down Angelina's rabbit hole. She was 9 years old when she heard this song and she arranged it herself based on the original by Screaming Jay Hawkins from 1956. She won Norway's Got Talent when she was 7/8 years old with songs by Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and the song Summertime Movie Porky and Bess You are at the very beginning and I hope that you will embark on the further journey, because there is a lot to discover, she is the best singer in the world, in my opinion), but you will find out and believe for yourself You me, you will be just as addicted to her voice as all other fans (Angels), she is also called the barefoot angel with the 1000 voices, why she always performs barefoot is another story, she can adapt and improve her voice to any song and also conveys a lot of emotions and she not only has around 200 covers but also 12 originals written by her and 2 written for her, all of which are amazing and even now legendary and there is a lot to tell, I look forward to further reactions and I have you now subscribed, greetings from Germany, by the way, she is now 17 years old and will be 18 in just under 2 months

Hello and spot-on reaction. You guessed right that Angelina covered some songs made popular by June Christy.
Several times (when she was younger) she performed "Cry Me A River".
Here is her recording at age 12 (a Very Tall 12) singing with Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps [The Norwegian (Military) Defence Staff Band].
    The link: th-cam.com/video/ViNgjfrc1dQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=E8N38wl_zWUQ1ovA
The accompaniment (a little punchy) makes it sound like a June Christy song in a James Bond movie.[!]

Her manager is also her uncle and he is also, or has been in the past, a DJ with his own involvement in the music industry...he hired the band and they had no idea, going by his name, that they would be playing for Angelina...they knew exactly who she was when they showed up...

This is a remarkable recording - if it hadn't been captured and put on TH-cam I think many would find it hard to believe possible... She is just turned 9 here and it is her own arrangement - you will see at the beginning she passes notes to the band director who smiles... her "wishes" for how the piece should be played... She has always played with excellent musicians, from at least the age of 7 when guitarist Egil Clausen started to accompany her... There are earlier recordings of her in the studio with her teacher at the age of 6, and even one of her singing "I Will Always Love You" in her cot at the age of 18 months... a snippet of that is well known but her Granda Mery recently released a longer version and it is quite remarkable: not just because she is in tune but if you just watch her eyes... it is at though she is thinking about the music all the time... A true prodigy indeed !

Great reaction. Angelina's emotional authenticity is a constant source of amazement and delight. By this time, there were few people in Norway who didn't know who Angelina was, because she won Norway's Got Talent 2014 the year before. All the same, I believe even the musicians were surprised by her arrangement and performance. Angelina appeared on America's Got Talent: The Champions as well, auditioning in 2019 at age 13 with her own arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody. The members of Queen were so impressed, they tweeted their congratulations. Here's a link: th-cam.com/video/qF0JV28vgLw/w-d-xo.html

And in addition to publicly acknowledging their respect of her performance, they gave her the copyright to her arrangement of the song.
(I think copyright is the word I'm looking for, but I'm not 100% sure because I can't imagine that more than one copyright can exist for the score of a song? Maybe the word is "license?" At any rate, whatever the right term is, if I've understood correctly, it gives her the legal right to use her arrangement without needing permission from Queen to perform or record it).

    • @ThePentagenarian
      @ThePentagenarian  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Actually, this is not the first time I've seen a unicorn, just one as "natural" as Angelina.
Due to my tastes varying widely, I have seen one other unicorn on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Will Ramos, the vocalist of the Death Core band "Lorna Shore" actually had a scope lowered down his throat while doing his harah vocals by the top ranked vocal scientist in the world. After watching the footage of his voice box, the PhD that acts as his assistant made the comment "He is a unicorn..." Due to comments shared between the lead researcher and her in which it was said "It (referring to Will's vice box) isn't supposed to be able to do that.."
While the music that he sings to is about a million times more aggressive and loud, his vocal acrobatics are no less impressive. I personally feel blessed to be alive during a time in which we have unicorns at both ends of the spectrum.

What will amaze you over and over again is Angelina’s ability to cover so many genres authentically. I understand your Eartha Kitt reference, but Angelina has only channeled one singer in my opinion. That was in her earliest public performances at 7 on Norway’s Got Talent where she channeled her muse-Billie Holiday. She later won that competition at 8-not a child’s competition, but against all contestants. From then on, you can hear that she listened to and learned from the greats, but you always get Angelina.
I’ll slightly disagree with one thing you said-that Angelina is a prodigy. Of course she is, but there are many child prodigies. Angelina is literally once in a lifetime.

The fact that the musicians were surprised would be a logical conclusion and a nice idea - but unfortunately that wasn't the case.
The trumpeter was Angelina's accompaniement in NGT's finale and he certainly didn't hide who she was from his colleagues. Apart from that, her appearance in the final ("Summertime") was watched by 1.033 million Norwegians on TV (Norway had a population of around 5 million at the time), she was on the popular "Allsang på grensen" show and at Christmas on both major national TV channels - so you'll hardly find anyone there who doesn't know her, especially among musicians.

I typically find myself wanting to recommend to new AJ reacters that they go back to younger and younger stuff. Because the only real explanation for how she could be so good at whatever age you just watched her at, is how good she already was at even younger ages. You may wonder, then, is it "turtles all the way down"? Well, not exactly. I mean, sure, most people would probably agree that her singing has always been at least "good for her age" - going all the way back to her very first vocal "performance" captured on video, when she was 1½. But in absolute terms, her singing hasn't always been "top tier". There are some videos from when she was 6 or 7, recording vocals in a modest local recording studio, where the singing is… a bit rough. And there's even a performance on stage in front of a sizable audience from (AFAIK) roughly the same time she went on _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter] that is similarly rough. It was these lesser-known videos that shifted my perspective on Angelina's talent from "How could she have been so good so young?!" to "How could she have gotten so good so quickly?!".
In any case, if you want to continue to go back in time, her performances of "Fly Me to the Moon" on the U.S. TV talk show _The View_ and "What a Difference a Day Makes" on the Norwegian music show _Allsang på Grensen_ [Sing-Along at the Border], both at 8, are particular standouts.
And, of course, there is also her entire run on NGT, which was her introduction to the world (literally, as her "Gloomy Sunday" audition went viral online, leading to coverage by major media outlets around the world). All four of her performances in that competition are "must-reacts". Unfortunately, some people have trouble posting reactions to that stuff, especially if they don't pause a lot or take more drastic "anti-algorithm" measures.

    • @ThePentagenarian
      @ThePentagenarian  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I think what I might do is start posting videos that get blocked to my Patreon. I have a very difficult time with watching reactors pause videos. I just don't want to do it. I don't think that's the proper way to listen to a song the first time you hear it. I appreciate the warning and recommendations. I would be interested to see if they're worried about blocking or monetization. I personally don't care about the monetization part of this. If people think that my reactions are worth anything, they could toss me a buck a month on patreon or buy a t-shirt. LOL
