De lekkerbeker(fried fish) sometimes de croquet.and the zuur vlees.. Gouda old and Jong cheese... So far I don t see... Even de meat you buy in the supermarket.. And I don't speak about the fish....
We really like our liquorice here in the Netherlands, most grocery stores have two parts of the wall (top to bottom) filled with different kinds. Its hilarious to watch people who are not used to the taste eat it, I think thats why people continue to send it to people who taste snacks. Even though almost nobody likes it, their faces are great 🤣🤣

The 'Patatje Joppie' (fries w/ joppie sauce) was an invention of a Dutch snackbar retailer in 2002. Its a mixture of mayo, curry, unions and curry flavour. When Lay's opened a competition to the Dutch public in 2010, to come up with the best new chips flavour, this 'patatje joppie' was one of the contestants and actually got voted the winner. Because the sauce was already a hit, these chips also got really popular and Lay's decided to keep the flavour as a permanent part of their collection, as opposed to it being a temporary sold item around the time of the competition finals. The only sad thing about it, is that Lay's never considered making the original inventor of the sauce benefit from the succes ...

I've send care-packages of snacks from the Netherlands to a friend of mine in Finland and to my girlfriend in the US. It's great fun to do and get their reactions over live stream. Also, our cheese is VERY loved in other countries. Especially in the US. You can go to your local cheese shop and you can get a block of cheese vacuum sealed in plastic and it'll stay good for 2 months, long enough to survive a journey to a country on the other side of the planet!

As an Enkhuizer (person from Enkhuizen), I love that the jodekoeken were on here as well. Normally it's stroopwafels all the way. I used to live about 100m from the place they make jodekoeken. If the wind was in the right direction you had the best morning right from waking up. Man, the smell!

The 'Patatje Joppie' (fries w/ joppie sauce) was an invention of a Dutch snackbar retailer in 2002. Its a mixture of mayo, curry, unions and curry flavour. When Lay's opened a competition to the Dutch public in 2010, to come up with the best new chips flavour, this 'patatje joppie' was one of the contestants and actually got voted the winner. Because the sauce was already a hit, these chips also got really popular and Lay's decided to keep the flavour as a permanent part of their collection, as opposed to it being a temporary sold item around the time of the competition finals.
The only sad thing about it, is that Lay's never considered making the original inventor of the sauce benefit from the succes ...

Fun fact: The Lays Patatje Joppie flavor was actually a winner in a Create a flavor contest.
In the end there were 3 flavors left: Patatje Joppie, Mango Red Chili and Babi Pangang. Patatje Joppie won by a landslide for obvious reasons.

A lot of Scandinavian countries like liquorice as well, even the salty types but yeah the rest of the world just hates it. Really don't get it. There is almost nothing better than hard salty liquorice from Oldtimers.

From what I could tell, it's especially the Finnish who really like liquorice as well (which in width of taste can be roughly the same as you can find in Dutch shops, although I don't think I've seen honingdrop in there).

I've send care-packages of snacks from the Netherlands to a friend of mine in Finland and to my girlfriend in the US. It's great fun to do and get their reactions over live stream. Also, our cheese is VERY loved in other countries. Especially in the US. You can go to your local cheese shop and you can get a block of cheese vacuum sealed in plastic and it'll stay good for 2 months, long enough to survive a journey to a country on the other side of the planet!
