  • Unbiased Review. I am no affiliated with these companies. These were my top 3 to try and compare the same lense color and see which one had the best polarization. You be the judge.

Hell yeah! Now this is a REAL review! No nonsense, honest and straight to the point with comparisons. You just showed up on suggested channels and I'm glad i clicked! Thanks buddy! You just gained a sub! I can't stand reviews like with reels that take it out of the box and read the specs without trying it out.

I totally agree, any decent pair of polarized glasses is going to get the job done for you at the same level... it comes down to personal preference, fit, comfort, styling, and budget to make your individual decision.

Thanks for showing us the comparisons and being honest.

I had Oakley split shots because I wanted a good pair of fishing glasses. I couldn’t stand them. They killed me right behind the ear and couldn’t wear them with getting a massive headache. Went to LensCrafters’s and ordered a pair of reeftons. Excited for them to come in

Costa 580P is a plastic lense not glass. The glass are a lot better quality. I work out on open water so I use blue mirror costa glass lenses yes they cost more but if your out everyday like we are it makes a huge huge difference

I don't know, I watched a few times and the Costas, to me, seemed to have a little better clarity in the water than the others, but only a tiny amount... like splitting hairs amount. But, I also agree that Oakleys, in general, are more comfortable on my head, although about 20 years ago I had Costas, that they no longer make, that were the most comfortable glasses I ever wore. I wish they still made them, and I can't remember the name. I lost them about 5 years ago 😢. I do a lot of flats fishing down in Biscayne Bay, Florida Bay, and the Keys in Florida and Costas always seemed to have slightly better clarity for me and I could spot fish a little better but it was only a little better. That being said, I've had several Costas that would squeeze my head pretty tightly and almost rub the skin off the the top of my ear where my ear is connected to my head, and they would also make my nose sore. Right now I have Oakley Drop Points with prescription lenses in them, but they bother the top of my ears and the bridge of my nose after wearing for a few hours. I've had them for 5 years and the paint is coming off in some spots exposing a silver metal type of material. Considering the price of having prescription lenses put in them, I'll stick with wearing contact lenses and regular sunglasses with unprescribed lenses from now on. I also tried Maui Jim's about 10 years ago and I didn't like them at all. They would slip down my nose and head often and I constantly had to push them back up and adjust them. At this point, all I'd recommended are to choose the glasses that are the most comfortable for you. I wish stores would have a pair that you could test out all day like test driving a car for 24 hours, but I pretty much buy my sunglasses online nowadays because online I can find them on sale for really good prices. I just watched this video because the Woot app has a very good sale on some Costas, Oakleys, and Ray Bans right now and I'm trying to decide if and which ones I should buy. Then again, I might not buy any of them because I just saw that Hobie came out with prescription eyeglasses with several different magnetic clip on lenses that look much better than every other pair of glasses with clip on lenses that I've seen or had before. I had Oakley Servo XL prescription glasses with clip on lenses about 10 years ago but the frames weren't good at all and would quickly push out too wide. I went through 3 frames pretty quickly and that made me somewhat angry with Oakley. The other problem was that the clip on polarized lenses weren't that good and I couldn't put them on and take them off that easily (my left arm is paralyzed). The funny thing is that right now I'm wearing Oakley Airdrop eyeglasses that look very similar to the Servo XL's but the frames are much stronger and not nearly as flexible. I've only had them for about 3 months, but at this point the Servo XL's already widened and became loose on my head. The plastic those frames were made out of were way too flexible. As far as the Airdrops I'm wearing right now, I like them a lot, but it's still relatively early so I didn't want to give me a review or judge then yet. Anyway, thank you for the good and honest review. I already have several polarized Costas & Oakleys, so I think I should give the new Hobie eyeglasses with the 5 or 6 different polarized clip ons a try. The good thing is that it's $80 for the frames and $40 for each set of clip ons. And, I love that the clip ons are magnetic instead of little metal hooks. The clip ons fit on the frame perfectly, without any little gaps and you can't even tell when the clip on are on the frames. They fit so well that they looks like a normal pair of sunglasses when the clip ons are connected. The other great thing is that I can quickly and very easily take the clip ons off and on with minimal effort and they offer 6 different varieties, so I can put on the amber lenses for the early morning or cloudy day, and instantly switch to the dark gray/black lenses when the sun is fully out without any clouds. With all the different polarized glasses I've had in my life I've only really seen a slight difference in clarity while looking into the water, so these Hobies might be the best choice for me... I just wish I didn't buy my Oakley Airdrops 3 months ago. Oh well, I'm going to buy the Hobies anyway. Besides, it's good to have an extra set of eyeglasses in case something happens. In the past I would just wear contact lenses until I got replacement glasses but the older I get the less I like wearing contact lenses and I pretty much only wear them when I'm fishing, playing a sport, or exercising. So, 95% of the time I'm wearing my eyeglasses instead of contact lenses.

*best all around glasses imo:* Half frame or semi rimless design BUT they must have thicker arms near the lens, this helps prevent wind from entering the sides thus making your eyes water 😪 (I hate it when full frame glasses catch loose eyebrow hairs, eyelashes, dust/debris... if you love glasses and wear them everyday you know what I'm talking about). My preferred lens colours in order include Jade Iridium, Prizm Black Polarized, Prizm Sapphire Polarized. All of which are Oakley offerings. Also, over the past couple years I have been avoiding Rose/Amber based lens, found they were giving me headaches. Even Seb's short bit of gopro clips had the headache starting👀

Honestly, I can SEE no difference in my Costa Blackfins and the $30 pair I picked up at Dick’s. Sure, I rubbed the coating off of the cheap pair in about 3 years but $30 goes into $270 nine times! And frankly, glass is only as durable as you are deliberate and un-clumsy.
Surely there must be a way to scientifically test the polarization and optics better than holding a go-pro up to the lens. Oh, btw, the Costa frame is CHEAP - embarrassing China quality.

Always wore Oakley because of baseball. Have a polarized lens for my M-2's I use for fishing that work really well it high light conditions. Have a pair of raybans polarized with a amber lens and use those for low light. Really what's important is clarity and having minimal/no distortion if what I've found. Paired with a great fit you should forget you are wearing sunglasses after a hour or so.

Just my opinion but the clarity of the other brands not even close to the costa . maybe because its glass. All are sufficient just one way better than others. Not a fan of costa frames but 580 glass are just another level. really subjective to the individual .Have owned Costa, Dillon, maui jim and Oakley. Considering all are owned by the same company except Dillon comes down to personal preference. Appreciate the way you showed the clarity difference with GoPro. helpful for those who haven't owned those models 👍

basically buy the cheapest pair of the most comfortable glasses you can find. i personally am farsighted and i finally bought a pair of prescription sun glasses+polarized from china (100$) and they are no better or worst than all the other polarized glasses i tried.

I took whole lot of polarized glasses including mako, spotters and oakley then some cheaper brands. I found with the expensive lenses i could pick up small details better. Wether thats a advantage or not i am not sure. Its also very important when spotting . To have a nice wide brim hat to keep out the harmful white light. I also believe some guys just have superior vision and no what to look for re spotting. And will see fish early with 30$ glasses. Unfair really. Lol...

Vigor the vigors have bad clarity the poliariztion isnt amazing the costas have glass lenses that weigh more then oakleys but they have the same clairty the whole point of glass is clarity why buy glass when it weighs more then oakleys lens plutinite and has the same clarity? and i would never where glass lenses for fishing if something barely hits you the lens will shatter and you will need eye surgergy and you will be blind with that eye oakleys will just scratch the lens maybe leave a mark and costa non glass is horrible quality espically since oakley isnt glass so thats why i choose that list.

They are the worst warranty company I've ever dealt with. So when UA s company slogan is " we got your back" . Fact is that you are on your own. They give excuses then tell you to take them back to the retailer you bought them from. Complete joke for a company of that size

Fuck everything except glass lenses. I have had probably 20 pair of Oakleys over the year. They never last! Scrath and are not new by few months. Bought my coasta and had for 2 years still look brand new!

Sorry, but poor review. You should cover the durability of the sunglasses. All others are cr*p if compared with Costas.
