I was at NBC television studios in Burbank on the day that Al Hirt visited The Tonight Show I saw Mr Hurt play this song. l stumbled across this video and I have to say this man is just as good has Al Hirt was.
The're many professionals that try this. You didn't try. You nailed it. Perfection on every single note. Incredible performance. Thank you so much, what a joy to listen to!
I remember watching the TV show as a kid just to listen to Al Hirt play the theme. Andrea plays it as good or better than Al. What an incredible sound!
Wonderful arrangement and great articulation. Absolutely fabulous in every aspect of detail sir. Thank you so much for all the different styles you share.
Love it . I remember those days back in the 90s i used to play trumpet with my local town band and also with the military career with the brigata Aosta. Sadly on 2002 I made the hardest decision of my life and had to quit studying trumpet 😢😢. This will be the biggest regret of my life .
Maybe, but you need to take into account all the practice that went into the skills. For example the double tonguing. He most likely spent hundreds of hours working on double tonguing, so if he can do that fluently he can learn the music faster than someone who can’t double tongue well.
I suspect that not even Andrea arrived at this level of performance without putting in some hard graft. Having said that in order to survive as a f/t session musician you'd better be good. The sight reading abilities of the finest have always been legendary ( once heard Previn speaking about those he worked with in Los Angeles). Mind you I'm sure there are many seasoned pro trumpeters who suddenly confronted with this on a music stand with a " red light in 30 seconds" instruction would take one long, hard look at the MD and say " are you taking the piss?!".
Sir I never seen a trumpet player like you. Its not a god gift its a super power in your playing I am also Bb euphonium player I can understand what is blowing. Give me your blessings so that I can also try to play like you. I am speechless about u r playing style. Thank you sir.
If you play this video, and don't let the person see who's playing the trumpet, the reply from those old enough to remember the TV Show, "The Green Hornet" will most likely be: "Of course, that's the theme from the Green Hornet, by Al Hirt!" Awesome performance!
"Flight of the Bumblebee" is recognizable for its frantic pace when played up to tempo, with nearly uninterrupted runs of chromatic sixteenth notes. It is not so much the pitch or range of the notes that are played that challenges the musician, but simply the musician's ability to move to them quickly enough. Because of this and its complexity, it requires a great deal of skill to perform. Often in popular culture, it is thought of as being notoriously hard to play. The radio program The Green Hornet used "Flight of the Bumblebee" as its theme music, blended with a hornet buzz created on a theremin. The music became so strongly identified with the show and the character that it was retained as the theme for the 1940s movie serial and the later TV series. The TV version was orchestrated by Billy May and conducted by Lionel Newman, with trumpet solo by Al Hirt, in a jazz style nicknamed "Green Bee". This particular version was later featured in the 2003 film Kill Bill.
Oh my thank you good sir! For the time of this video I just forgot my shitty day - truly what music is made for. I think I'll spend some good minuted listening this again.
I think the “play with me” was sarcasm.
Exactly! You are rigth Man.
Or a challenge.
How many people in the world can play this on the level? Less than 1000? Less than 100?
@@onemoremisfit too!
Dang she wasn't ready 😂
Andrea was actually napping with his eyes open while he played The Green Hornet. He is that talented!
Einer der allerbesten Trompeter auf unserem Planeten !!
That was Out of this world. If I can every play this as good, then I will be blessed. Thanks for another jaw-dropping performance.
Incredible. You are so skilled in this song. I can't play 90% of this piece.

I will remember this song for a long time 👌
Do you still remember this song?
Just Wow! It's a fantastic cousin of the flight of the bumblebee.

Outstanding. Al Hirt is smiling!
I remember watching the TV show as a kid just to listen to Al Hirt play the theme. Andrea plays it as good or better than Al. What an incredible sound!
Very good, but I think Hirt's is better because it has more expression.
@@yanwo2359 absolutely not, Hirt rushes like there’s no tomorrow. The first thing i noticed in this version is the vastly improved timing
Incredible. No other word
Thank you for establishing a pattern of sound and articulation that I will never achieve. This is just incredible.

i wonder if someone with his talent has to practice a piece like that a few times or if he nails it on the first try.
It is all about technique!
