Mum, Dad, I love you….I miss you both so very much! Thank you for giving me the love for these old films, and for the lovely memories they evoke of you both watching these together 😊

technicolor swashbuckling at it's finest! Power & O'Hara are the perfect hard-headed, stubborn and smart couple; the whole movie is a delight, Laird Cregar is playing Captain / governor Morgan as the perfect, insufferable scoundrel-turned-ruler to the hilt.
Btw, acting kudos to both Maureen O'Hara and the ever wonderful actor Anthony Quinn, whose many memorable performances have made movie going so special.
If you want to see Ty Power at his best serious movie lovers, I strongly suggest you see him in the film noir classic, "Nightmare Alley." It was incredible, showing the wonderful actor's range as never before. He was much more than just a pretty face, believe me. RIP, T.P.
I liked him in The Razor’s Edge- a deeply philosophical movie based on Somerset Maugham book. His range was much broader than other swashbuckling stars like Errol Flynn
@@aprajitsharma2418 I just watched "Witness for the Prosecution" again for the 10th time last night. He was fantastic. And combined with the greatest actors in the entire world at the time, both British and American, well let's just say it's a classic. Be prepared to be hugely entertained, AND PLEASE DON'T REVEAL THE ENDING!!!
Tyrone Power had a distinguished WW II combat record. It made him humble-- he was a hard-working actor, but didn't take himself too seriously. It made his scenes of combat a genuinely serious, you might even say philosophical as he'd lived through the senseless violence of war.
Good movie. I am from Maracaibo and when I saw the way they depicted Maracaibo city I really laughed all loud about they way it all looked, but to be honest it might have be right on the money, although Maracaibo is a city and port originated the by germans there were black slaves that brought their drums and traditions with them. We still have musical festivals where the drums are a central part of the rithm. Maracaibo was also sacked by the Pirate Morgan in some occasions. What a history.😄
I have loved this movie from the first time I saw it as a child in the 90's. If you like this movie and Maureen O'Hara, please watch "The Spanish Main" too. Its a same era pirate movie.
Aye, and ne'er a More Beautiful Lass of the Emerald Isle was there than Miss Maureen, Don'tcha know!! And a True, lusty wench as well, Saints preserve us!! RIP, me darlin' gal...
The use of miniatures and practical effects is every bit as believable as CGI has ever been. Real movies made with real actors and not cartoons with an actor's face.
Yes. His first role was in his father-in-law Cecil B. De Mille's "The Plainsman" in about 1937. He played a young captured Sioux warrior who tells Buffalo Bill Cody (Joel Mcrea) about Custer's Last Stand. My dad met him at De Mille's old estate when he was researching the film and they had several conversations about it. He was LA Mexican Irish, like a lot of my family, so they had much in common. It's funny that he never played an Irishman. By the time of this film he had established himself as a supporting actor and was poised for stardom.
respect and prayer in the name of Jesus Christ....so, many movies we saw as Boomer kids had respectful prayers and calls to God for help or thankfulness to God for bringing them through perils from outer space or natural disasters.
The Black Swan (1942) 6.7 An ex-pirate contends with rowdy buccaneers and a love/hate relationship with an aristocratic woman who's tougher than she seems.
1:11:47 Here the script says, break a chain, so he takes his Swiss Army Knife, and he does it. Remember, when that orchestra gets mad, the actors do the most stupid things. It's in the script! Loud music, acting weird! What now? Ah, cutting a heavy chain, sir. Yeah, right.

Love that this is free now i used to watch this growing up and was always surprised no one had heard of it. Beautiful film.
I had never seen Tyrone Power before. Maureen o'hara is lovely and the other actors brought this story of Sabatini alive. Great entertainment.
,
This was back when actors knew how to really act. There's something to say about not having to many special effects.
He would have been a next level actor but he died at age 44.
Find "Son of Fury" and Enjoy!
Good picture, but nothing like the novel.

Maybe Walt saw this film as a young man and
