A really lovely training session. It's great to see the sensitive awareness of her comfort level and ability to engage through out the session. Lovely start! I honestly didn't know people were using R+ with privately owned equines. I've worked with so many different species, from alligators to zebu, it makes sense to me. If you can train a shark or polar bear or cockroach with R+, why not a donkey!

This is awesome! Thank you for explaining things so well. I’m a new 4 month old donkey owner and am totally in love. But… petrified I’m going to mess her up. 😂

Do you have any suggestions for donkeys are 6 months old and don't like treats? Thanks

Just keep trying different things! Or use Timothy pellets for treats

I know you made this a while ago, but what kind of treats do you use?

I use a different treats to help avoid bordom.. all no sugar treats though

I hesitate to use treats to train any equine as it allows them to become "mouthy" and possibly bite. Plus treats aren't always available.....and donkeys especially become fat easy when treated all the time

Everyone has their own way... using +R with rewards is what works from me and the 100's of donkeys I've trained over the last decade. If you train treat manners properly "mouthy" donkeys won't be an issue. If you look at my herd you won't see fat donkeys either... because I use no sugar small rewards AND my herd gets alot of exercise. But like I said... this is what works for me and everyone I've trained 😊😊 everyone has to find what works best for them
