Great video, thank you. Love that tall big donkey with the giant ears. Not sure if you got my last email. I offered to send a check for 3 or 4 sessions in advance? Here is a clip of the issue I am having with Donk. th-cam.com/video/JbfHNBbb65w/w-d-xo.html Also, Donk has a few other videos on this channel under his play list. I am sure I am doing something to cause this behavior. By the way, had a professional farrier come and do Donk's feet. He was "high on his heels" but otherwise fine. I have him on a regular schedule now and he was a super good boy during his hoove-icure. I worked with him picking up his feet in advance and he never had an issue with it. I am trying to get him to wear a tiny bell so I can hear him when he s sneaking up on me (he's nipped my backside twice now) but he manages to ditch every bell. Any suggestions? He got me good a few weeks back, I think I sent you the picture. I had an 8-10" bruise on my from the base of my sternum to my belly button that was probably also 6" across and it turned jet black in a day. Anyway, please let me know if sending you in advance works. Thanks, Tiffany

Hi, I recently rescued a 25 year old donkey, I think he is a Sicilian Mini? I've been using your training tips to great success. BUT! something changed and I don't know how to correct the problem, albeit me or Donk. It has become dangerous and I'm worried sick. Is there a way to pay for a consultation phone call? I'm very concerned. Thank you. Donk has his own playlist on the ChicksForSteve channel. His sign language video is his best, I think. (will repost on Chicks channel, too.)

Just found your videos this morning. Got my 1st mule 2yrs ago(was a horse person only for most my life so this was new for me!) and I loved the 1st video I watched of yours Desensitizing to off the property at a park. Reminded me so much of what I started out doing w my guy! Anyway then I saw this video and I have been doing the exact same thing both w the bag tied on, and sometimes if the wind is "right" I will hold one in hand or toss on the ground. I couldn't believe how my mule was(and kinda STILL IS) afraid of bags blowing on the ground!! Even a yr later of working w this technique, he still isn't great w bags blowing in front of him BUT at least I can rub the bag all over him(never thrilled w it, but he does stand now) and better w it tied to the stick that I use regularly to move him in the round pen. He seems to be much more used to that part as well. Taking a long time but when I ride, there's always an opportunity for these terrible white bags to be on the ground or worse, blow in front of us! Going to check more of your videos put, great stuff and it's hard to find good training content for any equine.

I had watched this video the other day and then that evening my donkey went insane, literally! I ran outside and Donk was running with his ears pinned back, knocking over anything in his way, grabbing his toys and throwing them violently, rearing up... I instantly recalled your video, stopped, looked around and there IT was!!!! My friend came to weedwack with his industrial gas powered machine. I ran to him and signalled him to cut the machine off. He did. At that moment Donk ran by me and put himself between me and my friend, backing up and in so backing me up. I took the hint, turned and walked across the property. Donk followed me, in reverse. He was still incredibly adjitated, dipping his head and swishing his head at me to keep me moving. Donk picked up his foam floaty tube at one end and "handed" me the other end. I took it and asked him if he'd like to walk. He started walking, so I started walking with both of us holding our end of the floaty tube. We walked and walked and walked... for 30 minutes we just walked with the tube between us. Finally, he calmed down, dropped his end of the tube and gave me some gentle donkey lip kisses. We moved to the patio and I sat down, he stood beside me with his head resting on my lap. I pet him and softly spoke to him for another 15 minutes. While we were sitting, calming down, a motorcycle drove by and Donk became visibly triggered. I explained what it was and that it was ok and after a moment, he relaxed. Thank God He brought your video to me when He did or I would not have been able to understand what was going on and be able to help Donk. For some context. Donk is about 25. His owner has had to move Donk around from farm to farm, place to place because Donk attacks dogs, goats, sheep, etc. He did ok with horses apparently, but the horses were visiting. He has been alone most of his life. People and other animals around, but he was seperated. I rented part of his owner's a rural property and one day Donk just was there. I've had a homestead farm and took in rescued endangered and mini farm critters. My first was a psychotic Scottish Highland cow with 3' horns on each side! I have also done feral cat trap, release or rehome. Once had a crazy cat lady leave me 200+ cats! I did large senior dog rescue and kept most of them until they passed. A few months ago a juvenile red shoulder hawk landed at my feet and wanted me to pick him up. I did. And yes, we took off immediately for the emergency wildlife rescue! So animals find me. I've been working with Donk and for all intents and purposes, I've adopted him. I think very much to my landlords relief. I have cats and worked with Donk to learn they are "our" charges and "we" need to protect and take care of them. It took a few weeks, but now they lay in his shadow, play with his feet, he gives them lip only rubs and nudges. The cats came and laid by him when he had the weedwacker trauma incident. He patrols and drives the cats back if he feels they've ventured too far or are in danger. It is pretty cool to watch. Donk does hate the dog here, but the dog knows and stays away. A herding puppy escaped from down the road and came in Donk's territory. I knew the puppy and I took the opportunity to try to get Donk to settle and not attack the puppy. The puppy was submissive and after a while the two came to an understanding. Donk no longer chased or tried to bite Sparkle and Sparkle didn't try to play with Donk. Donk loves to be brushed and that is where I started with him. He does get bossy sometimes and watched the video on just gently turning his head away and that seemed to work. Donk only speaks Spanish, so I've learned donkey Spanish. I've been looking for a video about donkey behavior when playing with their human vs. donkey behavior that is not playing/dangerous. How to tell the difference and what to do, but I haven't found one. If you have one or know of one, please direct me. Donk likes to run up behind me, stop fast beside me and raise up a foot or so on his back feet. Then he likes to nuzzle me. I think he is playing? He doesn't rear up full, except during the weedwacker incident. He'll stomp his foot occasionally. His exclamation point. Usually if get doesn't something he wants. I just created a Donk Playlist on my channel if you would like to see him. Gosh, sorry, I'm babbling on. Again thanks for your video!! Tiffany & Donk aka Chicks For Steve ❤
