    I love that CoG, soon as you slid forward when you were explaining the ergo's the nose dipped and the skid lifted. Thats extremely more noticeable compared to other brands. I think Arctic cat has done a great job with this new chassis. Cant wait to wrap my legs over the seat and try this out.

    Hanging out off the side while riding hard...... love this about the Catalyst.... Narrow between the knees as you experienced. Glad you are a true trail rider that can share that info. Thanks. The BEST part of riding hard is hanging it out inside the corners on the Edge!!

    Fantastic video. Probably one of the most exciting launches in the last several years because it is truly totally new! Also it’s from a manufacturer who hasn’t had an “all-new” chassis in a LONG time! Great to see!! Thanks for bringing us the top notch content guys!!! Snows in the forecast for Manitoba this week!!! Because I'm not into rolling the dice on someone's first year of a new motor. Not with cars or pickups, and DEFINITELY not with a strung-out 2 stroke. Too many people have been left with a ruined season because of faulty designs and I'm not gonna be one of them.@@bedlambikes

    Love the look of the Catalyst. If i’d go 2-stroke this would be the one to go against the Lynx for me. The silencer is hilariously large and the belt drive is a great step away from chain if it’ll last as long as they claim.

    Luke I always have loved your reviews for so many years now. Another great one. I will disagree with only 1 point you made and that is on the width of the ski stance on this unit. I love ZR full width for aggressive trailed blasting but on this sled I can imagine myself riding hard on the trails but still having that slightly narrower stance for all the off trail boondocking I do here in Alberta. Our trails get groomed less then they do in Ontario. Some time we have a foot of fresh powder and the narrower stance is mor playful if you know what I mean (I know you do).

    Great analysis and discussion of the new design. This is just an excellent video for snowmobile nerds. I'm excited about this chassis and really want to ride this sled and the Alpha 600. Can't see justifying a purchase when I already have a beloved 600 that only sees a handful of rides per year. And super hard for me to consider buying a sled with no SHOT - battery and starter are a heavy and high-maintenance poor substitute. I would have to test ride one and fall in love...and then come up with some excuses. So, it could happen.

  • @longboardguy
    @longboardguy ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review Luke thanks. Getting very excited for snowmobile season 🇨🇦. I am considering a newer or brand new machine this year to get more seat time. I am thinking this sled may be perfect after watching this video. Cat has done a lot of work to build a new design machine. I like that belt system and ease of access panels, riding position and being able to move around. Plus their 600 is a great engine! Now to find a dealer that will have one

    Interesting to hear Luke's opinion on the narrower front end. I guess i would assume that the 3(?) Less inches of width than the ZR wouldn't make that much of a difference. Does it induce more inside ski lift? He seemed to have good things to say about the ZRXC front end, I'm genuinely curious to know what the on trail difference is.

    Great review, but I don’t understand the complaint about the set-up. I’d say this sled is about as good of a 50-50 crossover you could ever buy stock. The 39” stance (sway bar) is right between the 36” (non sway bar) mountain stance and the 42” trail stance. They offer a couple track options last year it was a 1.6” Cobra for more trail or a 1.75” for a little more off trail. I noticed for 2025 the options just changed to a 1.35” or 1.75”. I just purchased the sled you are reviewing here, but with a 1.75” track. I have not ridden it yet, but with low snow this year the spring deals were good.

  • @VladMatejka
    @VladMatejka ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Honestly that muffler is not as bad to me as BRP mufflers. BRP engineers sculpted some kind of weird modern art project and managed to completely fill the compartment so that the plastic would burn every time you lay the sled over. Cat on the other hand just squashed a cylinder and there is space for days.
    Happy to see what Cat is up to. First time I've seriously considered one... now gotta hope my dealership sticks around.

    The issue with the lack of the new gauge and other features is that the price points are the same. If the machine was more bare bones and the price reflected that, I doubt you'd see complaints. Unfortunately, much like rest of the industry, all the machines are pretty close to price regardless of where each manufacturer is on the amenities spectrum.

    Buying a new snowmobile nowadays is for rich people. I used to buy new sleds back in the 90s. And I drag raced a 634 Puma. 440Z and 340Z back in the 70s won just about every race. Raced in the WSRF racing association. Then in 95 I bought a 700ZR. Raced that for a while. I could beat sleds with larger engines. Then bought a 900ZR in 2003. I was so used to Cat building the larger engines. But now I don’t get where Cat is going. Looks like a nice sled. But 17K is to much money. I would rather get the 200 Hp sled. Of course I hang out with drag racers but not professional anymore.

    If that’s steam coming from the engine bay from snow ingestion they need to fix that. It was a common issue on the Procross chassis. And I understand it’s a pre production sled your on so hopefully it wouldn’t be an issue on production sleds

    At 180lbs. The seat is way to firm. It's also too narrow. Stand up and try to grip the seat with your knees. You'll feel the edge of the tunnel and hard tank. Can't even squeeze the seat. The old mtn. seat is much better imo. Sure would be nice if they offered various seat firmness as an option/accessory. It will be good to see the pointed ski loops gone next year.
    Even the base bumper should be wide enough to stop any whips from contacting the cowl. Sadly most don't.

    Y are you bewildered that a duel purpose snowmobile that doesn’t handle that great on a packed trail with a huge 146 track / you wouldn’t expect a rx c to perform great in deep off trail snow conditions/ this is basically more of a off trail sled than a high speed trail sled and the trail handling will be slightly compromised in the turns !!

    Looks too much like a Ski Doo... but thankfully better looking. FWIW... used to love Cats, but they got so heavy after the original M7-M8 that I knew I wasn't going to buy one, so I went Polaris.

    If the catylyst isnt a total flop im buying one for sure. Always loved cat but couldnt bring myself to own a 2012 chassis. Plus its fun to show the competition that Cats still the best.

    Why don’t you mention it’s a crossover. When you’re talking about the front suspension. Stop being so passive aggressive.

    Sounds like a lame 600 😂
    Only issue I kinda have is, there is no Cat dealers around anymore vs Polaris or doo. Polaris service sucked if u had a issue that was a simple fix, I cant imagine Cat is any better at this point with a small dealer network

    Why would anyone listen to someone else , try it yourself & if you like it buy . Don’t listen to these guys .

      By that logic, why would anyone listen to you?

      @ - 🤷🏻 not asking anyone to listen to me . Everyone is different and I would try it over someone’s opinion . I wouldn’t spend $$$ on a sled or not if a guy on a tv show says . Just saying .
