  • We start the day off with a traditional Japanese breakfast at Iizukatei, a renovated hotel that's a tangible cultural property, located in Nakagawa Machi in Tochigi prefecture Japan. Afterwards, we take a walk through the quaint town of Nakagawa Machi, visit one of the most unique shrines in Japan and enjoy a healthy lunch at a restaurant specializing in local vegetables.

The hotel and the owl shrine were awesome. The town really deserves more visitors, I hope it will come true and the visitors will bring back the businesses. There is a huge attraction in places like that, which is amazing nature and great food.

What a wonderful video. Very intimate and peaceful. I loved seeing more of Nakagawa Machi and the fascinating and endearing Torinoko Sansho Shrine. And, of course, your parting lunch with all the fresh local vegetables made my mouth water. I'd love to see, as you mentioned Shinichi, more videos of visits to lesser-known towns which may be suffering because of travel restrictions. That's a great idea on many levels. Love and hugs to you both. 💜💜

What a wonderful breakfast. Reminds me of my grandparents.
I grew up eating umeboshi w/shiso leaves on hot rice, with tsukemono, natto (my favorite), hot tea for breakfast w/my Obaa-san
My grandpa was Filipino so he cooked eggs, pork or a clear soup to eat w/rice.
I think if you took small tours to different places it would increase the tourist traffic to that area, where people could stay a few days n shop.
    Very scenic. Old Japan.

I still can't get over the peace of the place and the amount of traditional buildings, so beautiful. So sad that many of the businesses have closed, I'm so glad that they are trying to revive it all, it's such a shame that these places are losing the locals as they move away for work, its a ever decreaseing spiral that leaves many of these places unsustainable. We've had this happen to many places in the UK, or the rich buy property there and send the valuations so high the the local first time buyers can't afford to live there anymore. So sad. I wish them all the luck in the world.
