@@CoastalCasey yes it was very painful but I kept on magnet fishing because the spot I fished everyone walks their dogs along and let them go in the water and basically everyday people with their dogs are there so I just stayed me and my friend were there for 5 hours (12 pm to 4 pm) so I wanted to get as much metal out of there as possible and me and my friend are gonna be going back there soon this time with the GoPro since it’s all charged up😂 so I kept on magnet fishing even through the pain cause I love animals dogs, cats, hairy ones and fish especially
Thanks for the great info Coastal Casey. Very good info for us new magnet fishers. I have a rope question, what mm size do you use and what is your preferred length? I believe if you by a kit from brute or kratos it come with a 65 ft length.
You are very welcome, Magnetic MudSlugg. 10mm on the size and 100FT. I know a 100 may seem a little to long but you never know when you will need it for those tall bridges. I have used the a 65FT rope in the past but it fallen a little short for me. I do believe they do as well. It's been a while since i have purchased a kit.

I'm curious, what happens if you get ahold of something that is too heavy to lift, maybe an old car, or car engine, would your magnet come off if you pull hard enough, or do you loose your magnet? Thank you, John

I would use the come-along to try to get it off or if it doesn't come off with the come-along i would wind up loosing the magnet.
