Sorry mate, I beg to differ. There are no bad songs from them, and all are favourite. It just doesn't matter which one you choose.

Again for Rammstein, the lyrics are simple but tricky.
Background: Rammstein was often wrongly accused of being a right-wing band (Nazi band). This song is their answer.
The chorus "Links 2 3 4" (left 2 3 4) comes from military marching. There is a command "Im Gleichschritt Marsch" (March in step) and every soldier starts with his left foot. To ensure all are in sync, the seargent (or who ever leads that formation) shouts "Links 2 3 4", one word for every step (at least a couple of times after started). So Rammstein choose a military phrase. Military in Germany is oftenly associated to right-wing kind of thinking.
In the calm part of the lyrics, Till questions common German expressions related to hearts (e.g.: Can hearts break? Can a heart be out of stone?). And before the main chorus starts, Till sings "Sie wollen mein Herz am rechten Fleck, doch seh ich dann nach unten weg, dann schlägt es links." (They want my heart in the right place (normal meaning of "right place" is "correct place"), but when I look down it's beating left (second meaning of "heart beating left" is "left minded"/"open minded"). Then starts the military phrase. So they are playing with right-wing aestetics while making a left-wing statement.
But the envious are also mentioned. I think Germany is an envy society. In other countries they are admired for their achievements, in Germany they are ridiculed. But that's also the case for other artists in Germany. For example, the Scorpions.
Yes, that's right...but there's more...they also play on the aesthetics of the extreme left...... (As a reminder, they come from the old East Germany) well-known communist regime ! which they denounce in my opinion in the same way.
If you look at the song "Reise reise" sung in the famous "live Nimes 2005" concert, Till makes a very spectacular entrance on stage walking in goose step. this step is called "Exerzierschritt" it was regularly used in the GDR, in the army, of course...for me it is also a snub to the far left!
In the same concert, you see "Flake" with a strange helmet, it's a paratrooper's helmet also used in the GDR...he had probably found it in his father's cupboard...maybe
@@BILIL1 You're right about everything. I, for one, find it ridiculous to ascribe a Nazi aesthetic to them. I don't know where Kruspe is supposed to fit in with his mohair maentels and his painted fingernails. When I looked at a making of, I noticed that Till had painted toenails. Others and I imagined Richard Till painting his nails. 😂💅🎨
@@BILIL1 Rammstein uses a lot of stereotypes in their shows, normally just for the visual show effect. I only know about three songs (Links-2-3-4, Deutschland, Amerika) and two shows (rainbow flag & kiss in a country with homophobe government, welcome plate when entering stage via rubber boat in context of refugee debate in the EU) where they directly took a political position.They of course addressed a couple of topics that are related to social debates, like homophopia (Mann gegen Mann), xenophobia (Mein Land), body dysmorphia (Zick Zack), but for me these are not primarily political but social positions.

Your assessments seem fair to me, but nevertheless a little incomplete !...
Without wanting to brag, I carefully read the texts of all their songs (a good hundred.... and... I may have understood them a little..!?...maybe..) I don't think I missed a single one.of their videos and have looked on the net for everything that can be found on the shows since 1996 ...I believe that "Rammstein" is much more than your summary.
Most often their songs can be interpreted differently and it is not by chance because it is systematic...so wanted...
(I saw it "live" too...of course)
The debate remains open.
PS: "Rammstein is a huge artistic phenomenon, for lots of reasons...there's plenty to talk about for hours...
Just my two cents...
The way Till can change his voice tone from one side of the spectrum to the other, and with such ease, is amazing. If you don't pay attention, you might think it's someone else singing. Amazing talent on display on that stage. And also, one of the very few bands still with the original formation.
When Rammstein was founded, everyone involved decided that Till should sing. He was only a drummer so far and only sang on the side. He also had terrible stage fright. But, that has probably been settled. 😂🎤
Rammstein har probably the best audio technicians on this planet! To make this wall of sound so good and crisp at the same time is amazing, both live and studio!

..I love their videos, almost all as well! Some sound better on video, maybe because their art on video is "the bar" as well.. Sonne, Zeit, Deutschland, Amerika, Radio, are some of them.. I never was a guy of having a favourite band..until i heard them! My first music of them i heard, was "feuer frei" ..(i like video, but the live in Maddison Square Garden is funnier and sounds great as well) .. Benzin like both video and live.. and there are some gems from them, made by fans with subtitles like "Donaukinder", ..honestly, i have some less favourite, but on some days i like them.. From 1 to 10, for me, all are from 7 to 10..some work better on video version, some on live.. I am paraplegic, and they come to Portugal in June.. i may go watch them with my son and nephew, to create a life experience..

Theese madison square garden live videos are good but their live is so much better. They have much more effects you should watch them insted. And one of my favorite song is Angst
I seen them at the phillips Arena in Atlanta!!! They came out marching exactly like this but down the middle isle steps threw the crowd! It was awesome! Havent listened to them much lately but quite a bit years back

This song is a modern version of "German socialist song" whose lyrics were written by "Bertold Brecht" in 1934 the refrain was then "Drum, links, zwei, drei), this song was intended as a reaction to the Nazi regime (of sinister memory) who was in power at the time. "Rammstein" clearly shows here his attachment to a left-wing political party!
The video clip is also extremely interesting!
If you want to sing along with "Rammstein" along with the lyrics ( left hello ) you have to clap your chest on the heart side!
....that said this song deserves other and very interesting developments!
Since Rammstein always provoke, which was part of their philosophy from the beginning, they have been classified in the right-wing political spectrum in the public opinion (this can happen quickly in Germany). In itself that is nothing reprehensible, but is meant right-wing radical (in the proximity of Nazis). They have contradicted this accusation with the title. Quote: "The heart beats on the left". I've seen them live four times now (and I will not miss them in Sweden ever again).
There are a few songs that's excellent live due to the theatrics. If anyone can find a good clip of Mein Teil it would be awesome. The last two shows there has been Puppe as a new crowd favourite. Feuer Frei! is always an inferno on stage.
Songs with good videos are always good, Deutschland have been stuck in my head.
Of the eight studio albums so far, five of them have a track that is more or less made to open a show; the live show opening number is always spectacular.

This was Rammstein's response to fake media accusations that they were right-wing extremists. In the song they clarify that the heart is on the left ("links" in German). My favorite Rammstein song is probably Stein um Stein, live from Volker Ball.
Ich Will is my favorite. They have such a hard industrial sound. One of my top 5 rock bands of all time. Their live shows are legendary and a bucket list event for sure.
