I got to play the real game as a marine field observer assigned to force recon going into Laos/Cambodia. Our teams experienced 100% casualties and dead, I myself was wounded twice.
Uhm, It can not be 100% if you are here talking. smh..
"Casualty" includes dead, wounded, missing in action, prisoner and deserters, not just dead.

Check out Rising Storm 2. It should be very cheap on Steam. It's also brutal, and pretty hard. Not like COD where you empty a clip on a guy. One shot, maybe two, they're down. There's artillery, helos, etc. I love it, but expect to get pissed off in the beginning.

This map is literally a recreation of the village from the ride of the valkyries scene in Apocalypse now. The huey wreck in the courtyard of the village is the give away.

This reminds me of a really good Vietnam war mod from MoWII:AS, that I can't remember the name of, but it was from the Vietnamese perspective. I remember it started with a hopeless defense of an occupied French embassy, and worked it's way through the war until the American withdrawal. I should go back and find that. It was really well done.

I remember playing a game like this many MANY years ago (maybe 25?) and I hated it because I'd say "attack these enemy forces" and they'd run right past them if I didn't click on the exact enemy and all get killed. I forget the name of it, I only played it for a short time. Same as "patrol" and they'd walk right past enemies and get shot to hell, they wouldn't engage unless I told them too.

That whole first map on the beach was from apocalypse now and he did an awesome job recreating it
my favorite movie! I noticed when it showed the downed helo in the center of the village square. I wonder if this game will allow us to use the boat on the whole map.
Game developers should be thanking the mod community every single day. Developers games stay relevant much longer these days because of the mods people can download to keep a game interesting. Rockstar is STILL living large off GTA 5 because of mods and RPing

is it just me or do the soldiers uniforms appear a bit too dark from a distance? It seems hard to make out their green uniforms unless you are zoomed all the way in.
It's not Vietnam unless you're struggling to not harm the civilians while trying to cope with the enemy.

As in the mod changes many aspects of the game and has many assets that can increase loading time. The base game is WW2 so anything from the Vietnam era is a mod that the game must load on top of that. It's pretty impressive!
