Wow, aside from the fish you lost :( ALL of the fish in this tank are large, mature, and excellent looking! LOVE the Archer fish, so many excellent breed examples there. A+++ Do you ever do a necropsy to see what may have gone wrong? That's a very Native American thing to do, putting your fish in the soil for new life that benefits from the remains. I really like the "planted" line!

Excellent info on water flow. Many people think it only necessary in reef tanks but you covered the need in planted tanks very well. :-)

While you may be partially correct as to the benefit of fans in greenhouses the true reason they are used is to promote stem strength in juvenile plants. Without that air circulation plants tend to become wispy or leggy and they fall over and die. Similar to aquarium plants not getting enough deep light.

So sorry about your lost fish. I have one to take out today, he died during the night. When buying fish from Maidenhead Aquatics, (or anywhere else!) you really don't know how old the fish are. Maybe younger ones are mixed with older ones? Your fish may have been really healthy but old. If you breed your own, you know how old they are. Just a thought...

You almost have it with the planted tee. I love the bold plant design. I would really want a fish on there though too. No goofy cartoony fish. I love the neons. So then "planted" makes people think aquarium when I wear it rather than vegetable gardener. Or marijuana grower.

Ohh swim in peace big guy... but I love aquarium hobby themed mugs. More mugs!! I'm loving /all/ the mugs so far, especially the ones that incorporate plants. All of them are definitely going on my wishlist.
If you wanna sell hats go with a dad hat or snapback style, those will really sell. The one your marketing went out of style years ago, also maybe add more words to the shirt and hats like "Planted Tank Life" or something

hey mike, sorry about the rainbow. do your wavemakers require a jump start in the event of a power outage? i gave away my hydor koralia 750 because of that problem. and in this 3rd world country called trinidad and tobago, power gets cut once a week :O
It's from over eating and hi temperature. Fish sometimes like cold water and warm when breeding. But it makes them s h ow nice colors . This is nice big tank. Has alot of aquascaping and good fish.

Hi I just want to know how much bleach do you put in a jug with 1LT of water as I have lots of algae on my plants and wood as in am moving house and I want to save my plants and wood and the wave maker I have one mine is very powerful its a no no with endler guppies as they get chopped up big time if the swim near it they are good for fish like you have but small one no mine is a big wave maker I had in a 54LT tank about 2Ft I used mine to blow the crap of the substrate so my filter would suck it all in happy fish keeping
Started the day off with 8 mollies. At about 1 I checked on them and 2 had died and one was on the way. I had 2 Dalmatian, two boxy mollies and a pretty orange-yellow mollie named Corn. Check back later in the day and noticed one of the Dalmatian mollies was missing. Checked the usual hiding place(between heater and water stone) and it had gotten stuck some time in the day and was chewed up. I told my mom I wanted to get them a hide so they'd stop hiding between the heater and the tank/airstone before -3-

that sucks! I just had two angelfish die after changing filter. I did use all the old media so i don't think that was the reason and all the other fish in the tank are happy and alive.

It took me years to learn not to linger in the whys, whens, whos, whats of fish demise. Now, if the cause isn't immediately apparent, I just scoop out/toss the dead and embrace what I still have. Even, you, fully educated in science, can't know all the variables. I do admire your natural recycling methods🤜🏾🤛🏾.

Yeah, I lost a Yo yo loach a few days ago, and everyone else is fine. He was an active fish, ate like he was always starving,.....maybe an internal parasite? But every one else is fine.....
Could it have been due to the limit of its lifespan ? Because it looks old to me.
I just had my entire tank of ranbows just crashed 3 days ago I lost 17 ranbows and a Galaxy picasimus is well out of nowhere the tank was fine the day before

Hey :D You can either buy an Assassin snail, or some snail eating fish. I'd be careful with snail eating fish tho, because they are usually kind of aggressive towards the other fishes once the snails are all eaten (pufferfish).. Botias would be my first choice, they're also really cool playfull fish. I have them too :D they are kept in a group tho (4-6 minumum) The Assassin snail is harmless. Just make sure you get all males/females if you buy multiple XD so they don't reproduce (they have a sex, they're not hermaphrodite). Another solution is to use flubenol or levamisole. They're actually de-wormers but work against snails too C: Remove any snails that you want to keep prior to adding either of those meds :D The meds are harmless to fish. Not sure about shrimps ^^ The last solution i know is to stop feeding for a while and let the snails die from hunger. But considering that your fish are maybe underfed, i wouldnt risk it. One more thing.. Do water changes when you're killing the snails! The water becomes really dirty with all the deaths.. lots of ammonia, so make sure you do them a few times a week :D
