I've flown on Astana once before from Almaty, you didn't miss much in the lounge, nothing special but nothing particularly wrong with it, quite a comfortable airport lounge 👍
Except that you have to pay for food
Air Astana short haul Business Class kicks the arse off British Airways. The product looks excellent, big comfortable 38 inch pitch seat, BA Business Class is 30 inches (same as economy) also quality hot food. Petty you missed the lounge as I`m sure it would have been just as impressive as the on-board service. All that for 169 pounds, just checked BA Heathrow to Rome Business Class leaving in 2 days time, single 655 quid!. This is why the once "Worlds Favorite Airline" is now number 40, such a joke, take note BA. Another ace video, always informative, always enjoyable :)
It's all easy in a dictatorship where you can allocate ressources to your liking to your national airline without those pesky people and democratic representatives voting to finance more important projects.

3:37 It was Southern Sky (Южное небо) An-24. On these flights, you can buy tickets only at airlines ticket offices.
Also there are 2 airlines that have Yak-40 in their fleet - Zhezair and Zhetysu.

The A321neo is a beautiful plane! Air Astana seems like a very nice airline but their short haul Business Class is definitely nicer than Lufthansa's.
kinda like american domestic first class but with better service and an actual footrest! Trust me, I've flown it before (in a upgrade from Atyrau to Istanbul around July 27 or 28, 2019)I got this type of seat that Noel flown in on a short international flight with an A320

I love this review, and the music is nice at the start. I'm also so glad you got the GoPro7! I also noticed much more stereo sound; thank you so very, very much!!! I really hope you get to do some more videos soon, but with the full flight from start to finish. It's also so much easier now, because you can go live directly on TH-cam. This is awesome!
I really love your videos mate! My favourite is the London to Perth via Sydney and Auckland then onto Doha and back to London.
Have flown Air Astana many times, both Economy and Business, due to working in the region. Always been a great airline to fly with and are always looking to improve. Will be travelling with them again shortly. Business class lounge in Almaty is poor, not actually run by Air Astana, but more an airport lounge, nothing is free, all has to be purchased. Astana business class lounge is excellent, way up there with some of the best.
Just one question, which hotel did you stay in that is close to Astana airport, Astana is quite a distance from the airport and I have not yet found a close "airport" type hotel. Appreciate if you can let me know.

Hello from Kazakhstan!) if you are looking for old Soviet planes to fly on in Kazakhstan, you can’t actually book them online. You have to go to their office to buy a ticket. There is couple of flights operating regularly with An-2 and Yak-42 to some destinations

Wish you had shown a bit of the city. It is such a bizarre incredible place and well worth a look if you find yourself there. Also you could have taken a domestic Bek air flight on the now rare Fokker 100

Who would have guessed an airline from an Ex-Soviet country would have a beter short haul Business Class than a lot of European carriers.
Old Fords Don't die it’s business class... most European carriers don’t really have business class on short haul flights
Old Fords Don't die Aeroflot, Azal, Belavia, S7, Utair, etc all have a better shorthaul business than most European carriers with the exception of Turkish.
Also, BA has a special ‘mid-range’ configured a321 with lie-flat seats in business on their Moscow-London route to compete with Aeroflot.

I flew on Air Astana LHR-ALA-LHR on 757 back in 2006 and ALA-TSE-ALA on A320 - all flights in business class. They were excellent then, a much underrated airline that compares with some of the best. Kazakh's are friendly people too.

Could you imagine a 10 hour transatlantic Ryanair flight? That would be a nightmare.
There's a 5-6 hour flight from Stockholm to the Canary Islands. Try that.
My only ever flight in business class was on Air Astana (Delhi to Astana) on an A320 but it didn't have entertainment screens. We were given Ipads instead. If you want to try some other Kazakh airlines, try Bek Air. All of their fleet are Fokker 100's. I flew them from Shymkent - Aktau - Shymkent. The real quirky airline you can try is Zhezkazgan Air. They have some old planes in their fleet.
I love how the BGT winners Attraction were involved on the inflight entertainment system.
I've flown with Brussels Airlines, easyJet, Ryanair, and with Ethiopian Airlines. With Ethiopian I was onboard an B767-300ER and a B737-800 easyJet was a A319, Brussels Airlines was a Avro RJ100 and an A330-300, and Ryanair was on a B737-800. The Ethiopian Airlines one was really good, because their service is good and they give you a lot of food. Food quality is average tho in Economy.

Air Astana should be renamed Air Nursultan as Kazakhstan’s Capital City Astana was renamed Nursultan when the then President Nursultan Nazarbayev stood down last month.

The more you fly, the less things like noises and turbulence affect you because you realize how normal it all is. And when you see flight attendants walking around without any concern, you start realizing that you’re being silly gripping your armrest as if it’s a life or death situation.
Aircraft is safest type of vehicle, why do you think, every aircraft crush is worldwide news? Because it rare accident, when you realize it, flight goes easier.

One thing I've noticed is that agencies such as Skyscanner indicate the business class seats on the A321neo as lie-flat versions and from everything I'm seeing online I think they're only recliner seats. Does anyone know KC902 London to Bangkok via Almaty is it lie-flat or recliner in Business class please?

What is the point of a hot towel? I know most airlines had them out in business class
Its a courtesy offered to allow you to freshen up a little if you have been sitting around in the terminal for hours waiting to board your flight !
They hand them out multiple times and the longer you’ve been on a flight the more welcome they are. Why? Try breathing through them. The relief you get from the plane’s dry air is almost overwhelming, especially when they’re lightly scented.
Lounge isn’t that great you have to pay for almost everything even though you are in business class
