@@BoardGameCoffee The Renegade booth had it so I snatch it up, and came with free meeples to replace the cardboard standees. Had the meeples for the base game too.
First, Mark...amazing video. The production, explanation and your personality really pops. We got the game at Gen Con to cover on our show. We were playing our first game and was wondering about a rule. When you spend resources to buy cards from the market, are those resources now spent or can they then be used to try to overcome a hurdle and/or a travel action?
Spent! First thing you do before attempting a hurdle is to discard all the cards you played that turn, those resources are now lost. Which is different from a lot of other deck builders where you can just lay down everything in your hand and sort it out later. And if you’ve spent your move resources (the arrow) then you can’t use them again to move. But keep in mind if your card has multiple resources on it like 2 help icons (horseshoe) and 2 move icons (arrows) you can spend the help icons to buy cards, and the move icons to travel. Oh, and glad you liked the video :)
@@BoardGameCoffee Ok, we played it that way. So this game is tough. We spend resources facing the challenges and not buying cards. Then one card in the market leaves each. Clouds are added. Whew.
You can try playing with only for situation cards rather than eight. I played with four. Or you can just leave all the situation cards out of the main deck, that’s the easy setting. And make sure when you’re selecting your hurdles that you’re selecting a level one, level two, and level three hurdle, and make sure they’re stacked in the right order. With 4 situations and taking on a level 1, 2 and 3 hurdle, the challenge felt just right for our group.
I have a question with the card Gilda, she has the cloud symbol in the list of resources she gived you, what does that mean? Does that mean you put a cloud on the Hurdle/Final Conflict?
Correct you added the cloud to the active hurdle, unless it’s full in which case you add it to the final challenge. Jump to 10:17 of the video to see the example.

Friends and I played it for the first time, it took a while, but that was the whole "first time playing this deckbuilder, figure out and read everything", but unanimously agreed that we all enjoyed the game a lot! This video helped me guide everyone to how to play the game as well, so thank you very much, splendid tutorial.

I live in a tiny apartment and have to play these games downstairs in the gaming room to have enough room to play but then I have no net down there and there’s no way I can remember what you said in the video. Unless you can write down the instructions for me, has to be clear enough for someone with ADHD to understand.
Actually I’m not sure if it’s a TH-cam premium feature but you can download videos to your tablet. But I have premium, not sure if you can do that without. If you can there will be a download button below the video

Wow, this is a deceptively difficult game. My friends and I played it tonight and we couldn't even get through the third hurdle before the deck ran out...and even if that didn't lose the game for us, there were ten clouds piled on the final challenge, so it wasn't looking good for us anyways.

My favorite card game ever is the LotR LCG from Fantasy Flight, and this MLP deck-building game checks a lot of boxes I love. Pre-ordered already!

When I read the rulebook I couldn’t tell which cards were which when it was telling me to set out certain cards.
