Yos, you can start ballet at any age! I did, even though I was so scared at first. The eldest in my class were in their 70s. We were from all walks of life, all ages and all body types. Find an adult ballet beginners class and just give it a try, if it's something you've been dreaming of doing. You won't regret it (tbh, maybe your muscles will at first) 😊
I agree. Admittedly I was very fit for my age ( mountain biking, aerobics, weights) at 66 but I started ballet classes at an adult beginners class. All sorts there but typically I was the only male. Balance had always been part of my daily routine and I had studied ballet, which I loved, academically for years. It was one beginners class a week but the bug got me and soon I was at the school most days and when I wasn't I was at a hired studio to practice. My first class was an embarrassing disaster after our teacher suddenly said, " Now, pirouettes" which I had never done. At my first attempt I found myself on the floor looking up at the ceiling. But I got up and five years later ( in my seventies now) I was doing advanced classes. They were the best five years of my life and I would urge anyone whatever age to go for it. Sadly, for me, it all came to an end when I mysteriously developed fibromyalgia and was told to stop all my physical activities but I have great memories and a deep understanding of what dancers go through.
