It pisses me off when water intoxication and hyponatremia are used interchangeably. Hyponatremia literally means low blood sodium. It is a consequence of water intoxication, but it can be caused by other conditions.
Water is Gift of God and also Water is a way of Suicide by Drowning not knowing how to swim or drinking too much Haha. If people prevent me from traveling to my favorite destinations, I might try drinking too much water or drowning too.
Ed Wu not strictly true, although I must admit, during the summer months, I do enjoy sitting by the poolside enjoying a few beers before cannonballing in and swimming a few lengths. Anyway, the problem is that alcohol is a diuretic, which means that you will need to go to the toilet more often where you will be peeing out water that your body needed, thus leading to dehydration, which is what you emphatically *DO NOT* want in hot weather. Why they’re saying it’s not wise, on the other hand, to drink too much water is because your kidneys can only dispose of so much water at a time. Compare the situation to a toll booth on an interstate. It can only let so many cars through at a time. Should the number of cars exceed what the toll booth can process at a time, then the traffic will all back up. Some drivers will get impatient and, where possible, take alternative routes. Well, by drinking too much water, your kidneys are now the toll booth and the traffic is the water and your cells are the alternative routes. Your cells contain sodium, which is a type of electrolyte. Water contains ions. Ions are drawn to electrolytes. Now imagine that ions are perverted men and Taylor Swift in the nude is an electrolyte. The number of pervs now exceeds number of naked Tay-Tays. The same thing is happening in your body after drinking too much water. There’s too much ion-rich water and not enough sodium electrolytes. This means your cells swell up. Elsewhere in the body this isn’t an issue, but if your brain swells, you risk brain damage because your brain can’t swell inside your bony skull. Besides, drinking too much beer does the same thing. It’s called potomania, and you also run the risk of liver disease.
Ok, Back To Drinking Beer it is! 🍻
