When talking about his relationship I heard a few things he could have indicated resentment on his part. He said things like he always had to prepare her water for her... Btw That water bottle played alot into his story. When packing for the trip he said something like she had to have things this way or I was waiting for her to tell me whats what...etc. It actually reminded me of Chris Watts in that he may have publically appeared to be doing everything for her and the way she wanted but underneath was seething angry. Just something I picked up on from the way he described their relationship and how they worked together.

As a trial junkie, I've seen judges, as a matter of record, ask the defendant if they intend to testify or not. When I listen to this judge question Todd about his right to testify or not, I think I hear something in this judges voice that seems to know that testifying may not be the best choice for Todd.
I think the prosecution did a fantastic job but, Todd didn't do himself any favors with the jury ( IMHO ) by taking the stand.
Lie after lie and Todd couldn't even be consistent with his own attorney from direct to re direct.

What, they couldn't find the ER doc that did treat her? That doc prob wouldn't say what they wanted them to say even for $450 an hour!!! This guy was a joke!!!
Then whiney man takes the stand. Big mistake. He is gonna get wiped under cross. How is he gonna explain the sand matching what is in the pipe in his trunk and the weeds closed up in the trunk?
I'm still confused why they are still making a big deal about the mug when it had no DNA on it?!!
This poor lady didn't have one second to herself!! Not even at work. He called her on her break to make sure she was there! He went to deer camp but went home at night to make sure she wasn't going anywhere or talking to anyone that he didn't want her to! Wtf!! She was watched 24/7 and she prob had enough of his whiney ass and was gonna leave and he wasn't gonna have any of that! @@Jane-nt3vy I’ve thought about this extensively. Most windshield replacement people also run a lot of insurance scams. Many people have been approached by someone at a gas station or something offering a windshield replacement.
I believe that he left that morning with Barb to pull an insurance scam. They were probably driving around unsuccessfully until Barb got mad because she had to go to work. I believe they got into a physical altercation. I think she beat him up pretty bad. He then got out of the car and smashed that pipe through the window (probably actually hitting her in the face and lip).
I’ve always said that if he told the truth, he would probably be sitting in jail for 15 years. I think it was an insurance scam for extra money that he wasn’t able to pull off. She got mad and was abusive. Her family backed him because they knew she was abusive. He got out of the car and bashed that pipe through the window killing her. His knuckles were probably all bashed in because he was hitting the windshield instead of her. Maybe in a fit of rage for her not wanting to help him with the scam.
That’s what I’ve concluded based on countless hours of researching this case.

I don't love this douchebag, but nine jobs between HS and age 46 is not a lot. Most people change jobs many times, for various reasons -- usually because they just don't like the job or because they find one that pays more. Also, this guy returned to the same job several times, which doesn't really count as a "new" job, and in fact, actually speaks to his having been a good worker. I have returned to work at a couple of my old jobs. It's nice to return to a familiar place and to familiar people who know and value me. I am considering moving back to the town where I own a home (I'm renting the house to a friend now), and I know that I will have a job waiting there for me if I want it. Btw, I'm a bilingual speech therapist, so I could work pretty much anywhere. I just like the place where I used to work.

The car backs up, he gets out, she's scared can't get the seat belt off or is just getting it off & he drags her out of the car, they fall, she starts to get away, he gets hold of her & brutally beats her...

Nobody would ever try to stop something travelling towards you at 90 miles an hour, for God's sake! Every driver who has been in a bind in the past knows this. There is simply no time to think and your instinct is to cringe and eventually brace.

Like maybe he went there to pick up the pipe.
They were just minutes from home and barb had that big mug full of water, maybe ice, there should have been an obvious amount of spilled water in the car but I never see any. I think this detail could have been mentioned but can understand how it would have been looked over.

He didn’t have to control himself with Barb, his wife of 20+ years.
She could have been upset with him or trying to appease him. Did not matter. He was on the edge & anything she did was going to result with Todd exploding.

I also can't believe they tried to act like restless leg syndrome is what made his toe tap during the entire interrogation. Restless leg syndrome doesn't make you do that.

It (RLS) certainly can, and does, although, in addition, he was clearly nervous, anxious and afraid (to say the least, and was mourning his wife, whether innocent or guilty of causing her death). He never attempted to hide his emotions, feelings and/or any signs or symptoms of what he was going through; he also stated he needed to take his medicine, Lorazepram (a benzodiazipene, so similar to Xanax, diazepam, etc.) at the beginning of the interview regardless of the fact they may have reacted negatively/judgmentally to that. He likely started 'self-medicating' after Barbara's death, if not before.
No excuses, just reasons for some of his behaviour from a completely non-biased psychologist and body language/behavioural analyst involving micro expressions. In trials and in particular witness/suspect interview/testimony body language and micro expressions speak volumes whether the subject is cooperative or uncooperative or talks freely or stays silent within their rights.

Oh come on!! Solely this cheesy depiction of the defendant as a loving boyfriend and husband in a perfect little family proves that something is not right about the events. If facts were absolutely clear and consistent about the injuries sustained by Barbara, this would be completely unnecessary.

I bet Barb caught him talking to someone else online and she was going to leave him and tell everyone and he didn’t want everyone knowing his secrets. I think he got rid of his electronics that he was using to communicate so that it couldn’t be discovered.

I can't get past the idea that the pipe was supposedly traveling 100mph. If the pipe flew off the back of a truck moving 50mph, it would have been slowing down. Then the defendant's car, also moving 50mph hits it. The pipe, when it was still on the truck was moving in the same direction, which decreases the impact force, wouldn't it?

    • @moc6897
      @moc6897 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

The pipe was not supposed travelling 100 mph. Only the impact of the pipe would have the energy of an object (i.e. the pipe) travelling 100 mph hitting another object (i.e. the car of Todd) which is stationary. Because when two objects which are moving in opposite directions are hitting one another, the speeds of both objects are adding up in regard of the energy of impact, which is taking place. Doubelling the speed makes 4 times the energy. Three times the speed would result in nine times the energy.

THIS (what mo c said) -->> "when two objects which are moving in opposite directions are hitting one another, the speeds of both objects are adding up in regard of the energy of impact." So, if you and another car are both traveling at 60 mph and the two hit head-on, it's as if you each hit a wall while you were gong 120 mph.
