It wasn't hot enough outside yet to ask Meg to do a review. It's all strategy. His review of the floating lounge chair in the pool will be part of that video. Just don't mention his black eyes in the following video when Meg finds out.
Can we just admit that using something electrical to cut grass in Texas instead of an internal “exploding Merica” gasoline engine is similar to driving a turbo Ferrari instead of a naturally aspirated one?
As silly as it seems to review this on your channel, I’m glad you did since I’ve been eyeing that mower since it was sitting in your old garage! Love how quiet these things are!
IMHO it’s best to clean the deck is over concrete and lower the deck as far as it will go. I’ve never owned a Ferrari (my dream car) but I’ve cleaned a thousand decks hahahaha.
I've been using my Ego walk behind for a couple of years, and love it. I've started buying other ego products and am finally gas-less as well. Not only are they quieter (which the neighbors love), you also don't have to worry about oil changes, either.
Spends a literal fortune making cars loud! Loves the quietness of the mower…. I would’ve gone with an older 1 series John Deere before emissions with a diesel and straight piped it💨💨💨
What are the 0-60 on that mower? Lol But seriously... They are awesome but those battery packs are expensive af. Ps ceramic coat the inside of the deck... Grass is sticky.. the coating will allow it to just fall off with the water connected
The best part of a good electric lawnmower especially in the south is the ability to mow at night and not annoy the neighborhood. I throw on a headlamp and combined with the mower's headlamps I can see fine and mow in the dark.
Electric lawn equipment is where the electrical takeover should be not cars. Cool mover. 😎 my dad has the electric push mower trimmer and blower. I haven't switched yet. Matt.
Love my ego stuff. Only battery powered stuff I would buy. The only tip I have for you is depending on how often you are moving if the batteries are sitting for a while leave them at 50% and charge the, right before you use. Makes the batteries last for way longer. My first set of batteries I left at 100% all the time and they lasted 3 ish years. New set has lasted 5 years still strong. Just depends if it’s worth it to you
Also keep in mind that they probably do not like being fully discharged. It might be worth buying the two extra batteries to make sure that you're not shortening their lifespan.
I don't know about the ZTR rider, but my electric push mower's battery life is GREATLY affected by deck height and sharpness of the blade(s). Mine has the thinnest wimpiest blade I have ever seen and I am thinking of sharpening like every third mow now. Two batteries can sometimes not even finish 2/3 of my yard, but after a blade sharpening and a deck height raising, two batteries did the whole yard with half the life in the second battery. They got me though, I just ordered the leaf blower and trimmer each with their own battery and charger so now I have enough battery no matter what and they have a more invested customer.
@@normalguysupercar probably not for mine, it's a Ryobi push mower. Being that, it's a 10 minute job at most to take it off, vice it up and sharpen it with my little hand held belt sharpener.
Nice unit Dano! These are not a waste of time videos. I'm looking forward to the side mounted garage door opener video to come. Sport Mode, really? You gotta get a rosso corsa wrap and affix the Bassofino shields to it then! I know it would be a stretch but Adam riding that mower in a tangerine colored Speedo would be outright hilarious! Keep up the good work!
You should build a garden tool shed (with power) to keep your mower and gardening crap out of the elements. Every red-blooded American is entitled to have at least one. I just built one in the backyard of my new house. Tell that HOA where to go and pound sand if they hassle you.
I’m glad you did a review on the e-go mower since it’s obviously the direction things are heading. While it’s relatively new tech, and not something that reasonably reliable or affordable for my personal profession I’m still interested in the performance of the electric offerings for mowing and landscaping. I think for a person that’s doing their own lawn it’s a viable option, and it’s amazing the leaps and bounds the technology has come. It’s nice to have an owners real world experience from these new electric mowers. Thanks Dan
@@bonsaibeanz from what I can tell it is likely one of the better options for homeowners currently, and the ability to interchange batteries with the lines other equipment is a plus. For bigger lawns I can see there being an issue but out of the box for sub 2 acre lawns it looks impressive.
My Ryobi 48V only does 7mph. COMPLETELY INADEQUATE dangitttt!! But it seems like my battery lasts quite a bit longer....probably because it has an inbuilt 100Ah battery. Yours does have a few extra features too!!
Dan are you thinking about doing solar on the house? If so I have some tips for you. Would love to share the research I’ve done for my place with you to help in your decision
I suggested solar and a Tesla Power Wall when he was talking about generators. Talk about being quieter. Generators can be LOUD. Power Wall is completely silent.
Hi I have a question because I’m looking to purchase this mower. How long does it take you to cut the grass with this mower? I was wondering about run time of the battery, so if it took you one hour let’s say to cut your entire lawn where is the battery level at? Thank you so much for posting.
The batteries seem to lay over an hour. I don't know the exact time to cut the lawn but it's probably about an hour. When I did simple back and forth it was down to probably 18% or so
I have 1.8 acres, about 1.2 of which is grass. If it's tall, the four batteries that come with it do not cut the entire yard in one go. I tend to do the front yard on one day and the back yard on another. When it works, anyways. It was in the shop for over 2 months, got it back, and it lasted about 10 minutes before it broke again. I've owned this thing for 9 months and I've only been able to mow my yard 2 times because of reliability problems.
I've asked this on a few other TH-cam channels about the ego ride on 0 turn. Can you tell me about removing the deck and then sharpening the blades and then of course putting the deck back on with the blade sharpened I know that? The adjustment on that on some mowers can be somewhat tedious and I'm curious how it is on the ego electric mower. Specifically getting the heights adjusted to the factory settings after reinstalling the deck thanks
Appreciate the review. I was wondering about these. I have a Toro Timecutter which I paid about the same amount for a few years ago. I really love mine, I can cut through 2 feet tall grass like like it was butter. I use my Apple Max headphones with noise cancelling and you literally cannot hear the mower with noise canceling on. Its very odd technology.
If you still read these, how is the mower doing a year after this video was made? My biggest concern is long-term durability of the engines and the batteries. Dont want to have to drop another $2500 five years later to replace all the batteries.
@@normalguysupercar It's got Sport Mode, Paddle Shifters, Room for Expanding the Power, and change the pitch on the blades to tune up the exhaust or "grass" note.... It's a Normal Guy Super Mower. Great video. Love my new Z6, only has 2 hours on it so far. Do you guys have any idea why the drive wheels remain locked for like 5 mins once the unit is shut down after mowing? The little gears button on the panel remains lit for about 5 mins as well as the lights on all of the batteries after shutdown and the mower cannot be freely moved until the battery lights and the gears button go completely off. I need to push it into place in my garage but have to wait until it's happy to be moved. Need to know if this can be manually bypassed or why it happens.
@@normalguysupercar hmm. Ok. Maybe mine is broken? I thought this was a safety lockout of some sort. Are you certain you cab freely push your mower immediately after shutdown?
@@normalguysupercar my batteries and my green start button remain lit up for about 5 mins after shutdown. Then only after they go off can I freely move the mower by pushing it.
For $5,000 to $6,000 the deck should be more than stamped steel. Metal work you put feet on is also cheap for price. Not sure why cost so high. Batteries $350 each x 4. Electric motor? More than a gas motor? If parked next to a $5,000 - $6,000 gas zero turn hard to think battery worth the money. At this price and sport mode, it is a super car.
