I can see why people are surprised by this very laid back review, the thing is I really felt laid back playing the game and I think using a controller added to this feeling. It's a game where laying back in your chair, using a controller, absorbing the brilliant soundtrack and piloting your vehicle just all seems to come together so well. This does not mean I think controllers are any good for shooters or other games like that but they sure are great at platformers and driving games.
"I've played this with a controller, it's way better than a keyboard" *checks name of channel *checks level of vodka left in bottle *checks contents of grinder *gets cotton buds and cleans out ears *rewinds video "I've played this with a controller, it's way better than a keyboard" *feints
Yup plenty of games that I feel I'd much rather use a controller but nothing in this game really makes one better than the other, the controls are simple enough that almost anything would be pretty easy to use.
Bought this based on Mack's recommendation. Was not disappointed. Great review. This game is all about you and your ship - as the world slides by in the background. Do not enter thinking it's a challenging platformer. I'd describe it as a side scrolling, non verbal narrative. I was surprisingly gutted at the end.........Thumbs up.
Love that i can trust you not to spoil things in little games like these! Was swaying as to weather i should get this or not... But now i am downloading as we speak haha ~ thanks Mac, take care!
Last weekend it ended buying and beating both Limbo and Far Lone Sails. Great games and I really enjoyed my first play with them but I don't see myself going back as I feel it's was a one off gaming experience because you know what to expect next time. I highly recommend both games and enjoy your first walkthrough if you buy them.
“Far: Lone Sails” made me realize I never understood what “hauntingly beautiful” meant. Spoiler Alert! The ending made me forget about the collection of lanterns, chairs, suit cases, teddy bears etc. that I kept in my room. I just had to keep going…then when the game restarted after the end credits, the protagonist was seen knelt on a grave of some kind…just an epic little game. I took so many screen shots as well. The whole game can be turned into an art installation.
Had never heard of this game but it looks great, will definitely be picking this up. Thanks Mack for the discovery! A great example of why I follow this channel :D
I do think this game reeeeeeeally needed to have some replayability. 3-4 hours is simply too short, especially when it is this easy. I think the concept of this game would work amazingly well if it had rogue-like elements. Maybe a sequel could have procedurally generated levels or something. Anyway, my biggest gripe is not the game itself really, although I do think it could have been made somewhat more difficult. The biggest issues are the linearity and short amount of game content and play time. The art style is amazing, the game oozes potential for something bigger. And I get how it is about the small somewhat intimate experience. But I still don't think games like Limbo or INSIDE or any of the other fairly 'artsy' games provide enough content. Yes, some of them are amazing experiences, but I'm not sure their cost reflect the overall value. It wouldn't have been so bad if these games had more interesting gameplay and at least SOME challenge in it, think Party Hard 2 or something like Stephen's Sausage Roll for example in which the puzzle challenge alone will keep you busy at least 15 to 20 hours or so. But games like Far: Lone Sails basically provide no challenge, which makes it very difficult to enjoy the overall experience when it is this short. It's over before you know it and can't say it feels very satisfying. Mind you, it is not a bad experience, but to me it is a bad game.
To everyone calling Mack out for not bashing the game because it is best played with a controller (considering he will often criticize games that do use one), I think it is a good thing that he did not let that get in the way of his review. If anything, knowing that he may have a predisposed bias to not using a controller, then saying it is worth it for this particular game anyway, shows that he can eliminate his bias when it matters to critically review a game. This is the exact attitude a reviewer should have.
I understand what he means sometimes you don't want to be challenged sometimes you can't be bothered playing most games but this is one of them games were you don't really need to concentrate it's kind of a movie game if that makes sense were you sit back and chill and just enjoy the passing of time.
Picked this and the newer one up on sale a bit ago and just started playing it on my Steam Deck. Definitely a great way to pass the time on a flight or commute.
Great review Mac, really glad you liked it. My only criticism is that you have used some footage from the end of the game which for this kind of game I’d say you should try and avoid. Cheers
Very nice looking game and a good review. I think I saw gameplay of this during some indieshow but I had forgotten about it. Almost want to pick up the upcoming physical version now. 🙂
1:24 not gonna lie......that whole section just sounded off coming from Mack. As to the game. Not my cup of tea but that sound track sounds quite lovely. Relaxing laid back review though~
So what if you paid 15 for cinema, paid 20 for pizza, fact is that this game is not worth 11 pounds, on emotional bases I could say that games I like are worth 1000 $, just because I enjoyed them and it was well worth my time does not justify price though ,does it?I understand that he liked the game, but I find it disturbing that he did not put its price in cons, as he has done it with similar games , or even games who have way more into them then this one.
played it just now, liked it but a bit too short imo. wish there were interior upgrades or some missions. had more potential but they are already developing the follow up.
Journey, ,all over again, ,l remember replaying journey over n over because of the visual and audio exp, ,but it wasn't long enough in my opinion. ..like lone sails, ,,,love it
Why is EVERY switch reviewer UK and such a nintendo simp. Is the game good? What do you do? Not, "aye de develawpars aw so bludee brillyunt! Onehundred pearsint bouy lads!"
You had me until I heard the word controller. Don't have one, not likely to get **another** one as I totally lack eye hand coordination when it comes to controllers.
Great game, awesome review that complement the game style, i played it on my PC with a mouse and keyboard its really unique atmospheric game, it make you feel curios at the time relaxed
Hi Mack at the end of your videos you have this nice piano and guitar music playing. Would you mind sharing the name of that song. I couldn’t find it in the description. Thx in advance.
For a game called FAR, I find it too short. Wished they made scarcity a thing. I find too much fuel, more than I can carry. Most of my stuff just fly away on impact clipping through walls. That's what happens when you are a hoarder like me.
Wait wait did you just compliment the use of a controller instead of telling them to go burn in the fires of hell? Damn, this game really has some influence. Oh and great review, I actually watched this review AFTER finishing the game because it was so memorable and great for me and I didn't really know why, so I wanted to know if am just insane or do other people find this game memorable too.
Great vid. Thank you for all your hard work. I believe Mack is having to become one with controller, since PS4 is having a good year of games and RDR2 is coming out....hahahahaha...Love from the states. Congrats on the Royal Wedding.
This review is a lot more calm and relaxing than some of your other reviews Mack, but nonetheless a good one. Do you think you'll be reviewing State of Decay 2? I know you didn't like the last one but I want to get your opinion on this one as well. Some of my friends are hyping it up to be the best game ever.
"sittin back in your seat, with a controller" Never thought I would hear that come out of Mack's mouth, with such positivity too. Dunno whether to feel disgusted or proud
So many comments on this. Since the whole controller thing has been a big point of contention on this channel I've always said that that's the beauty of PC; we have so much freedom and can use whichever peripherals we want or that best suit the game.
it looks like a nice game, maybe a good one for the kids to play? and glad to hear the controller getting some credit... it's not the controller's fault; spam A is as bad as Spam L.Clk.
4 hours of gameplay and just basically doing the same constantly...? I find it difficult to agree with you on this one Mack...but I am not so laidback now as you are since I haven't played it ;-)
There is no objective in this game. I didn't even know how to start the engine at first. There is no instruction. Nothing. I seriously don't like games like this.
Yeah I have been hammered this month by TH-cam, no idea why but even the ones with ads are doing terrible, good job the donators exist, it keeps the content flowing, no thanks to TH-cam who are making a fortune off the backs of people like me.
Did I miss something? What happened to mackscorner? However I’m really enjoying your videos and I really hope that you can look into were gaming is heading now when battle royale has grown into such an immeanse trend. Also you could combine your thoughts on that with the stupid increase of micro transactions in video games and whether or not it’s getting banned. I really think a vid like that would do some good. I know you have a couple but an update.
Whoa I have never heard him talk with so much affection before
Cause this is how you feel when playing the game
He talks about you in the same way... Don't tell him I said so though. ;)
I can see why people are surprised by this very laid back review, the thing is I really felt laid back playing the game and I think using a controller added to this feeling. Controller Mack?
Worth A Buy thanks for the heads up, great little game Mack. And yes with only a few simple buttons it makes perfect sense on a controller 👍
Love your videos mate they’re really good
We were all just thrown because we half expected a punchline at some point.
If Mack of all people is saying to play this with a controller, then by God PLAY IT WITH A CONTROLLER!!! xoxo Mack

Paul Hardy hmm i got the steam controller and it is usfor for platformers and some games but not for anyting i stil prefer mouse and keyboard
Yup plenty of games that I feel I'd much rather use a controller but nothing in this game really makes one better than the other, the controls are simple enough that almost anything would be pretty easy to use.
And yet he gave Nier: Automata a negative review because it plays way better with a controller. The hypocrisy of this channel is its biggest weakness.
this review was relaxing for some reason lol it must have relaxed you alot mack
look up arms

It relaxed me a lot too
Mac prefers a game with a controller over a keyboard & mouse? ..What have you done with the real Mac?
Bought this based on Mack's recommendation. Was not disappointed. Great review. This game is all about you and your ship - as the world slides by in the background. Do not enter thinking it's a challenging platformer. I'd describe it as a side scrolling, non verbal narrative. I was surprisingly gutted at the end.........Thumbs up.
Not my kind of game but I'd enjoy watching someone play it... like say... Mackscorner
Holy shit... Did Mack just suggest using a CONTROLLER?!?!
I fear he's going to the dark side...
scary ;P
Why I like this game is the fact it is so laid back compared to most games now a days
Huh? ..games' never been easier...
I was expecting a lot of shouting but was pleasantly surprised at how relaxing this was, keep up the good work Mack. :)
I flipping watch these videos for the beautiful intro words every time :D
The words, the words :)
....of the developer.. ^.^
There is no replayability. Yet, I went through it twice. This game is a joy on the iPad. And fascinating for small kids.
Did Mack just recommend using a controler, or did my ears deceive me?
Indiana James well he did
This was an incredible game to play. The emotional highs and lows turned me into a mess.
Love that i can trust you not to spoil things in little games like these! Was swaying as to weather i should get this or not... But now i am downloading as we speak haha ~ thanks Mac, take care!

So mackscorner is gone forever. I'll miss your screams from outlast :(
Wow that is a shame.. I used to binge watch his playlists all the time. Such a shame to see it go...
Either that or he's just had sex
What was wrong with Mackscorner?
Is it gone forever? I thought he said that he would unprivate the videos
Kind of just saying a big "fuck you" to all his old fans if that's the case.
Oooh, looks like another cool little indie game I'd enjoy. Thanks, Mack.
Like after the first 18 seconds ... that soothing introduction!
Had never heard of this game but it looks great, will definitely be picking this up.
Thanks Mack for the discovery! A great example of why I follow this channel :D
The art style is so unique, this would make an awesome movie concept
Reminds me of a film called 9 with Elijah Wood
Ok, you're sick of people asking for background music an stuff, but
Outro? (7:02)
3:41 no spoiler. but your screen give it away.
Another great review fro my go-to authority on gaming; Hats off, Mack. Love your stuff :)
What a charming little game. I feel like I want to play it now because you were so enthusiastic about it.
I need a 30 min loop compilation of those intros with the whispering. Or an asmr side channel.
Great review. I think I might try this ,looks relaxing great after a day of work. Thank you.
Added to wish list for a impulse buy on a steam sale!
"The sounds are so great, and the music".....I hear only you...
2018 - Mack enjoys a walking simulator
Never stop Mack!
i thought mack hate controller
He hates controllers for controls that would work better with a mouse ;D
*He hates controllers for third person console games that don't play as well with K&M...
Getting this next week. Looks great! Thanks Mack 😍
Looks like a good game, it looks a bit like Limbo (I think it could do with being a bit longer than 4 hours though)
Or just wait for a sale. It would probably drop to five dollars.
That seagull at the beginning was very cool, it seems to have a very intelligent AI and the animations are varied
Sarcasm hurts!

Fun Fact! The vehicle is actually called The Okomotive
I understand what he means sometimes you don't want to be challenged sometimes you can't be bothered playing most games but this is one of them games were you don't really need to concentrate it's kind of a movie game if that makes sense were you sit back and chill and just enjoy the passing of time.
Is that music at the end from the game? Because it’s beautiful.
Picked this and the newer one up on sale a bit ago and just started playing it on my Steam Deck. Definitely a great way to pass the time on a flight or commute.
I found this oddly relaxing
Great review Mac, really glad you liked it. My only criticism is that you have used some footage from the end of the game which for this kind of game I’d say you should try and avoid. Cheers
Very nice looking game and a good review. I think I saw gameplay of this during some indieshow but I had forgotten about it. Almost want to pick up the upcoming physical version now. 🙂

As to the game. Not my cup of tea but that sound track sounds quite lovely. Relaxing laid back review though~
I'd say 10 pounds is worth it. How much does a movie ticket cost in your country? Should be about the same, right?
I'd just wait for a sale. Do it for all games I buy even the cheap ones.
2 pounds max for movie ticket for me.
10 pounds is allot for such game
Paid £15 for the cinema.
I just started to play this game last night. I love it.
Thanks! Can you zoom in while you're working? Seems a bit small for these old eyes...
played it just now, liked it but a bit too short imo. wish there were interior upgrades or some missions. had more potential but they are already developing the follow up.
What is the music at the end of the video?
Love u Mack :)
What's the music piece that plays out at the end of each of your reviews Mack?
Just bought kingdom come under your recommendation and now I'm buying this. Thanks Mack!
Seems like a Flower, or Journey type game. Short but memorable and amazing.
I like this type of control ur own ship games is there any other like it
You had me until I heard the word controller. Don't have one, not likely to get **another** one as I totally lack eye hand coordination when it comes to controllers.
Buy this or go and see Solo....
Great game, awesome review that complement the game style, i played it on my PC with a mouse and keyboard its really unique atmospheric game, it make you feel curios at the time relaxed
Just replayed this. So good. Any similar games like this we are missing? Fire watch was laid back too
$2 right now on e shop. 2-3 days left.
Hi Mack at the end of your videos you have this nice piano and guitar music playing. Would you mind sharing the name of that song. I couldn’t find it in the description. Thx in advance.
th-cam.com/video/kyUvYx-yBFo/w-d-xo.html there you go
Thought you gonna hate it having in mind you didn't like Firewatch. Which was awesome in my opinion :) But, hey, opinions differ and thats fine :)
ALL WILL BE MACK
Thanks for the review. I was unsure about buying it, but now I made up my mind to do it
Is it worth buying the physical game? Might become rare eh. Its cute
thanks. I've been humming and hurrying about this game. Looks good, butt the steam reviews weren't the most helpful
Thx for showing this Mack, goes on wishlist instantly
What controller are you using?
Macks whats happening with Macks Corner when are the videos going to be back????
For a game called FAR, I find it too short.
Wished they made scarcity a thing. I find too much fuel, more than I can carry. Most of my stuff just fly away on impact clipping through walls. That's what happens when you are a hoarder like me.
Honestly not having a go mack.... But we're you after a few drinkies during the recording of the review?
Wait wait did you just compliment the use of a controller instead of telling them to go burn in the fires of hell?
Damn, this game really has some influence.
Oh and great review, I actually watched this review AFTER finishing the game because it was so memorable and great for me and I didn't really know why, so I wanted to know if am just insane or do other people find this game memorable too.
What the hell is the name of his intro song, you can barely hear it
Great vid. Thank you for all your hard work. I believe Mack is having to become one with controller, since PS4 is having a good year of games and RDR2 is coming out....hahahahaha...Love from the states. Congrats on the Royal Wedding.
WOW I did not expect this form you..
is this available on the consoles?
Looks like a game with a lot of character. I think I'll actually get this one but when its on a sale, it's just a bit too short.
Very surprising. I'll definitely at least watch for it in the sales
This review is a lot more calm and relaxing than some of your other reviews Mack, but nonetheless a good one. Do you think you'll be reviewing State of Decay 2? Great review. Not even waiting for a sale. $15 for 4 hours is a good deal. What's the music playing in the outro, please?

Howl's Moving Castle came to mind when watching this.
>"IT'S BETTER WITH A CONTROLLER"
MACK IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU MACK? EH? MACK? MACK??
Lo acabo de terminar. Es relajante y por el precio esta muy bien.
Never thought I would hear you say a game was better with a controller.
it looks like a nice game, maybe a good one for the kids to play? and glad to hear the controller getting some credit... it's not the controller's fault; spam A is as bad as Spam L.Clk.
This isn't a million miles away from the game idea I have, although that will be 1st/3rd person I imagine.
Can we be expecting a revisit of Paladins, now that it's out of Beta?
4 hours of gameplay and just basically doing the same constantly...? I find it difficult to agree with you on this one Mack...but I am not so laidback now as you are since I haven't played it ;-)
I don't know if you ever played Inside, if you didn't you totally should.
You feeling okay Mack? not been hitting the blunt again have you?
There is no objective in this game. I didn't even know how to start the engine at first. There is no instruction. Nothing. I seriously don't like games like this.
