@ fantastic episode, but the Stendhal Syndrome is so low on your list! To me that film is top 10 Argento, one of my favorites of all time! I think it’s better than Cat O’Nine Tails or Four Flies! But anyways in my opinion, there’s no bad Argento film! :)
Was a steller way to waste away a slow day at the restaurant I work in, lol better that listening to everyone's drama anyways, lol great episode as always
The Fall of the house of usher tv series is basically a story based on many Poe stories ( Black Cat, pit and the pendulum etc. ) . Its fascinating stuff, especially if you know the stories. All four Mike Flanagan tv series are some of the Best things I have seen in my life. Especially Midnight Mass and The haunting of Hill House. Essential stuff, I mean ESSENTIAL. Creepy, intelligent , brilliant. Invest some time guys, you will thank me later. Greetings from Poland!
One of my favorite episodes, Love it! Argento has become my favorite director since I’ve been listening to the podcast. You guys have made me obsessed with Italian movies. My top 3 Argento Deep Red Tenebrae Suspiria.
@@collecticus 2004, Thats in the minority lol. even around my way I was last of my friends to get dial up in 93-94. Y’alls must have lived in some rule as areas hahah Hell I had my first Cell phone when I was in the 12th great in 97-98. A motorolla flip phone back when cell phones were actually phones. That still to this day is the best sounding phone I ever owned.
JPs criticism on Bird is correct, it’s said in the film though that the lead is an unreliable narrator so we can’t trust his memory because it’s overly influenced by his own perception. Great show!!
When the movie Suspiria came out, I was a kid living in NYC, and the local TV station would run the commercial trailer after 11 pm, and it would scare the crap out of me. th-cam.com/video/wQdBoMQeY3k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZT7YAhatOnG95H8B That said, here's my Argento movie ranking. 1. Suspiria (Greatest Italian horror film) 2. Inferno (almost like part 2 of Suspiria, similar creepy atmosphere but in a hotel) 3. Bird with the Crystal Plummage 4. Four Flies on Grey Velvet 5. Cat O'Nine Tails 6. Tenebre 7. Phenomena (Is this a call back to Friday the 13th and the Red Dragon novel, 4 Flies) 8. Mother of Tears - (I like the idea of Witches running around creating anarchy, chaos, hate and violence all over the world. It reminds me of Carpenter's Apocalypse trilogy.) I was at the NYC premiere. Asia Argento was there and the audience gave the film a standing ovation. Afterwards Asia went out into the hall to greet her fans and I came within 2 feet of her until I noticed she was holding her baby in one hand and drinking a Heineken with the other, so I just walked away. 9. Trauma (call back to Friday the 13th the Final Chapter) 10. Opera 11. Dracula 12. Stendhal Syndrome (the girl fantasizing she's part of the artworks and animated scenes with the pill and the bullet is great. Then it turns into torture porn and then a schizo chick. The plot gets too over the top. He should have just stuck with the Stendhal Syndrome, not turn it into rape revenge. You can't do Vertigo and Frenzy in one film, the plot gets too ridiculous and unrealistic. 13. Giallo 14. Do You Like Hitchcock 15. The Card Player I had the Steel Box DVD set that came out in the 2000's with the movies from Suspiria to The Card Player.
the most anticipated episode this month! 🤗
