Yep, that's cold. Spent some time outside Fairbanks, AK USA at -55 F some years ago (military). Vehicle engines are left running a lot of the time, plug them in with engine heaters when not running or forget about starting in the morning. It's a cold experience that you don't forget. Here in south central Alaska it's a lot milder, only gets down to -25 sometimes.

I can't imagine how the cold that must feel. Surely it should get to a point where it doesn't feel any colder below. We can't just keep feeling colder and colder endlessly, right?
Big difference. In super winter countries. Usaly the wind is pretty much non existing. And also very low to zero humudity. -40 is better than -20 with alot of wind.
Modern technology and especially the TH-cam made things possible. This has shown me Yakutsk which I haven't heard in particular except about the Siberia while going through about Soviet Russia 50 years back.
I live in a place that gets to these temperatures and have a hard time believing this was filmed when it was really -45 outside. Exposed skin hurts within a minute at those temperatures. If it was really -45, people would be wearing scarves on their faces and you would not see any skin other than maybe around the eyes.

I live in Yakutsk and I can confirm that the temperature in the video is exactly -40 and lower, because when you see the fog, you know that it is -40 and lower, the thicker the fog, the lower the temperature as a rule. The skin really burns from frost for a minute, but we are just historically accustomed to walking with an open face, although I would be happy to wrap my entire head with a scarf, but my glasses immediately fog up from my warm breath directly into the scarf. :)
Here in Talisay City, Cebu, Philippimes the temperature outside is 32 deg C. But just watching these snowstorm in Yakutsk, Siberia, I'm freezing already.

I also living in Syberia, but in ~1000 km to the south of Yakutsk. Forst > -30 is actually pretty rare thing for my town. And its just FREAKING COLD. But i cant even imagine what is that mean to feel shit like -45.
This made me miss being bundled up as a child going to preschool/kindergarten in the bitter cold, because I wouldn't know where I was going and that kept the mystery. Probably now if you put me there I'd whine and run indoors like most people would in -49 ish, since I live somewhere much warmer now.

There's almost no difference between night and day because of the almost perpetual fog and the sun only creeps a few degrees above the horizon anyway. The lowest temperature I have seen from the airport reports is -52°C. Anything much lower than that is traveller's tales. Global warming has made the place less cold and the permafrost is threatened. Apart from the fog there is pretty well no weather in the winter, and very little wind even, which helps. Snow falls in the autumn and just sits there for about 6 months.
