    So glad that I found your channel, but so sad that I live so freaking far from you(middle Europe) cause I would drive across the state to you to trobleshoot my electric problems on my merc 80 inline 4
    Will keep watching and learning from your videos! Thanks for the work and time posting videos!!!

    Been learning a lot watching your videos, Thanks for posting. I have a 72' Merc 800, it was running great for the first few pulls in the lake, but now I'm not getting full RPMs under load, and only going half the speed I was before at WOT. Any suggestions where to start? I've checked the fuel lines and new filter, brand new gas, plugs looked ok, and it doesn't sound like it's missing.

      @@MerCSonL6 I'm getting spark, I thought I fixed it. Rev's up fine with no load. But when it's in the water I'm only getting about 3400 RPM on the top 2 cylinders and 2800 RPM on the bottom 2 cylinders. Is the block shot? Can't figure out why bottom cylinders are not firing at the same RPM's. I will take it back and do a compression test later. Do you have any thoughts? Bad distributer/trigger? Also found out the battery is not charging now. Going to test the stator and rectifier after watching your videos.

    • @MerCSonL6
      @MerCSonL6  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BradleyKang23 that doesn't make sense. Rpms are governened by the the pulses off your stator. How are you separating the the cylinders? Sounds like a bad switchbox or stator. Son

    • @BradleyKang23
      @BradleyKang23 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MerCSonL6 Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to me either, I used a digital tach on the plug wires. I checked each wire individually. top 2 cylinders had the same reading at idle and wot. bottom 2 where both 600 to 800 lower. all plugs where pretty clean and wet. Gonna check the crankshaft seals too when I get a chance to work on it.

    What’s the difference between the red and blue version because I have the red version

    • @MerCSonL6
      @MerCSonL6  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Years. Red is late 60s to early 70s. I believe the Blue bands showed up around 1972ish. Disappeared then returned in 1982. That's if my memory serves me correct. 😅
