Regardless, it was a dream for us 90s kids to go on Legends of the Hidden Temple.

No, I think they were, but not overly so. Or maybe Nickelodeon just didn't give a crud about kids' safety unless they got seriously hurt.

8 winners a year sounds about right. My sister and I would lose our shit whenever someone would win because it seldom happened.
Would've been funny if they still somehow won even if the Temple run was still purposely rigged. I think they purposely rigged it sometimes.
bruceleedisciple they generally rig it in terms of the number of rooms you'd have to go through and/or the guard placement. One notable example was The Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible (the layout guaranteed that the players ran into all three guards, plus they'd have to switch floors 3 times.)
The show was rigged so you couldn’t win. Extra rooms and guards in every room.
The humorous irony is that their attempts to rig the show produced more winners than budgeted (each season had at least 10 wins, and in an even more humorous twist of irony, the season with the majority of mess ups, season 1 had the most at 12 wins)
They only had so many grand prizes. They can't send everyone to Space Camp.

One episode I will never forget...
The episode with the Silver Snakes where a girl was frightened half to death and almost fell off the ladder in the Heart Room, and the temple guard had to literally pull her to safety (off camera), then her partner ran into another in the Tomb of the Ancient Kings. He was so terrified, he literally ran out of the temple, getting them disqualified. And all the while, the temple guard's signaling the kid to come back into the temple.

Oh I remember this episode, this episode was in season 1, the episode about the legend of the Henry VIII's Great Seal.
It wasn’t him jumping out of the temple that disqualified him, it was the fact he only had a half a pendent. But still, was unbelievably funny to me when I watch it now.

He says that the kids who went through the temple felt like their lungs were going to explode. I'm sure the kids who went through the house on "Funhouse," and "Finders Keepers"(another Nickelodeon gameshow) probably felt the same way.
I used to love the show growing up. And Kurt Fogg still looks great after all these years!
It seems really shocking to see how the old show was actually done! Other than that, it's super awesome to have Kirk back for the TV Movie reboot of Legends of the Hidden Temple. I used to watch reruns of it on Nick GAS (Games and Sports for Kids) back in the 2000's.

I loved that show growing up. My brother and I used to yell at the kids as they were going through the Temple. Sometimes they were incredibly stupid.

A friend of mine knew someone who was on the show. One of the Temple Guards accidentally stepped on her foot, she said “Ouch!” and he whispered “Sorry!” after taking the pendant and leaving. You can’t hear them, obviously, but you might be able to see the Temple Guard’s lips move to say “Sorry”. I don’t recall which episode in which it happened.

I never missed this show when I was young. And the final stage I remember was so unfair. 3 minutes for the mosy confusing maze. It was really really difficult

Seems logical to do all the teams at each spot at once and just edit it. I think they did GUTS the same way--they would actually have a few different teams on set and tape their segments separately but by magic of editing, they would take all the footage from that day and separate it into different episodes. haha. A lot of game shows do the same thing like Jeopardy, they tape 5 episodes a day but spread it out for a week. My aunt used to work at Nickelodeon studios and I have a picture of her standing next to Olmec. She knew a couple of the guys who played the Temple Guards. It would've been so cool if she played one, lol.

There were actually two occurrences where a contestant dropped a piece of the silver monkey on the ledge. The second time it happened time it happened, time had just ran out.
It's speculated that the girl who threw up in the Pit was Christina in The Secret Battle Plan Of Nathan Hale and the run had to be postponed because of this. If you look at the temple during the temple games, the layout isn't the same as the one they have during the run.

0:47 I remember that incident. During the temple run on the first floor, that kid got spooked so bad by a temple guard he leaped out of the temple room ending the game.
it made no difference with him jumping out of the Temple since the second the Guard came out then the run was over anyway since he didn't have a pendant, it was one of those situations where the 2nd player either doesn't get a pendant or gets a half pendant and pretty much NEVER remembers to get the other half.
Kirk has aged...okay, for 20+ years out of the spotlight. :P
he still looks good, if not a little chubbier, but that's what happens when you get old.

14 hour day amd most of that is just waiting... that's almost criminal what they did to these kids and took away their wins. By the time your pumped ready for the temple, it's late, your full of pizza, and tired. It's almost like a setup to fail.

the waiting rooms were arcades tho lol trust me the kids didn't care about how long it took they got free arcade gameplay, pizza and to be on a themed playground contest on national TV!!

I can really believe Kirk on the temple run, because your literally forced to move and think at a rapid pace, and your only given a limited window of time to complete the run.
I know some people have done it: one of the Red Jaguars did it, and a Blue Barracuda did it.

Legends of The Hidden Temple was actually extremely hard, pretty much the Ninja Gaiden Black of game shows. It was more brutal than Nickelodeon GUTS, and that is saying something because you have to be in shape to compete in GUTS. You got the f**king moat, which is very taxing on a kid's body. Then they expect you to think by asking questions in the steps of knowledge when you are already exhausted from the moat. Then there are the physically torturous temple games where most people lose their chance at the temple before the games even began. Finally, the final teams take on the temple and after all that physical and mental torture they went through, they have only three minutes to grab the item and get out of the temple. Most people only get one pendant of life and when that happens, they don't hide an extra pendant; so the second player cannot be caught by a temple guard. Most people have failed due to the temple guards or running out of time. When old man Kirk Fogg says after going through the temple, you feel like you're going to die; take the comment SERIOUSLY. You'll understand why so many have failed to even get the item, let alone beat the temple.

Yes, he did say that, but it is what they ate and drank that got them. Plus, the temple games and the temple are physically taxing on a kid's body.
I heard that they did all that stuff in the morning and then they came back and did the final Temple Run in the evening.
