Nice, you did it! Good job! 🙂 I love my TDS210, it's so easy to just turn it on and use it straight away.
If you need replacement BNC's, they are still available from Digikey/Mouser etc, TE connectivity / AMP part number 5414373-1

We had a backlight fail on 4 of 5 scopes at work, in every case the florescent tube had died . I replaced all of them with leds. It's been 10 years and all are still bright and crisp .

I was wondering about that. Have seen retrofit LED kits for laptops and monitors.
Is there one for this type of screen or you have to go full McGyver?

@@chevylization There's no kit that I'm aware of, but it's been 10 years. I found the densest strip I could. L.E.D.'s were about 2mm spaced. they were 12volt and could cut every 3 L.E.D.'s.

The appropriate restoration for a Tek 210/220 is to throw it in the bin where it belongs.

subbed. I did a bnc repair on my TDS 210 on my youtube channel too. Its a great family of scope and I enjoy having one. I had been looking for a scope for years and found that one.
If you should need the BNC number its listed on the EEEV blog where someone fixed it there. I got the number form it for my repair, and could use the number on Mouser. I think they are about 8 dollars CAN each. I don't remember the number off hand but I believe I link to it in my vids description.
Thank you for sharing your repair.

9:42 in. I see where the copper braided sleave part goes!!!! I have one of these and took it apart months ago and now on reassembly could not remember where that sleave part goes. I knew it is for connecting the plated shield coating on the front panel to the board somehow.
Broken solder on the BNCs for these is common. Also, I have a TDS210 saved from trash where someone tried to repair those like you did but then got the ribbon cable for the display in backwards so it did not work and they gave up on it.

Surprised you could still find replacement CCFL's for it. Must be NOS items. Had the same problem trying to remove brittle knobs on older 22XX series TEK scopes. They shatter to pieces with very little force.

just scored one. bit long in the tooth but 100mhz is still 10x faster than what i have, and 4x faster than my friends. hoping AU 350 was reasonable. its in pristine condition from what i can tell. no scratches, so far everything seems to be working.
i saw tektronix, i jumped. dont see them over here. not without paying a small ransom.
funny how the friends newer one, is basically identical but you can feel straight away, its pretty cheap and nasty. one of the knobs fell off in the first week. the shaft broke, actually. and the power switch doesnt work. and it keeps drifting after half an hour or so.
good enough for my basic stuff.
