Great video, I was just wondering what exposure settings captured. I have the sigma 150 - 600 f6.3 at longest zoom and just wondering what your iso was when it's overcast sky's 😊
I very much enjoyed your video Jo. You are very enthusiastic about your wildlife photography and I really like that. I am a wildlife photographer as well, and I know how challenging it can be at times. However it is worth going out and experiencing the journey isn't it? Take care and happy shooting! 🙂
Lovely video 🤗 sadly this time of the year there isn't much about 😔 but I bet that place is manic in the spring for birds 🤗 lovely fieldfare photo too by the way 😁
Merry Christmas Jo to you and all your family, thanks for the last 12 months, lovely video as all ways mate take care of yourself stay safe hopefully see you again out in the new year
That looks to be a spot that deserves multiple trips. I think you could really get some exciting photography done there. Thanks for letting me tag along!
For sure! And being so close to home that will be nice and easy to do, got that goldcrest to photograph and want to get some more images of the long tailed tit too 👍
@@JoHeard You just never know what else you may run across. That's how I get images of critters that I had never known before. That's such fun! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Nice shot of the Fieldfare, they're attracted by the apples both on the trees or dropped on the ground and it's well worth spending time waiting for clearer shots. You've had a productive and busy year and I've enjoyed watching your videos- looking forward in seeing your channel next year.
Lovely video Jo. Always an uphill struggle at this time of the year. The first Blue Tit shot from the bridge, with the tripod, is a real cracker! Merry Christmas to you and yours (if you celebrate it, of course). Look forward to seeing more of you in the New Year!
Nice video again Jo. I look at my bird photography just the same way as my fishing, sometimes I catch a huge fish and other times I catch nothing. But its still nice being there. Have a lovely Christmas.
Jo, I've been following your Leather working channel for a long time now. Just coming across this channel and really excited to see you are into photography as well. Always appreciated your work!
Hi Jo lovely video of you out and about photographing the birds in this little local reserve, I know sometimes when you go out it can be tough to find the birds/wildlife sometimes you have just got to photograph what wildlife there is and sometimes it's nice to find yourself having to create creative images out of a common garden bird. 🐦 I did have a chuckle though when you mentioned seeing people carrying their cameras on the tripods and that you're a bit hesitant carrying yours over your shoulder, I have to say I do this a lot, but only dropped it one 🙄👍
😂 Oh gosh! Least It's only been the once .... it doesn't help that the tripod I am using, with the centre column removed, the legs get tangled up on themselves 😂 I did have a great time out, and I am really happy with a couple of the blue tit images I got. I am going to try and set up a bit of a garden layout in the new year, and set up some nice photo spots I can use.
@@JoHeard sounds like a plan, Yeh in my garden i have just introduced a bird bath/reflection pool using a boot tray from amazon, at the moment I have a grey squirrel, half a dozen black birds, goldfinch, greenfinch, dunocks, robin, blue and great tits, magpies, ravens, coming into my small garden everyday, I put out mealworms, nuts and sunflower seeds hoping to get some shots in the reflection pool soon once they get to use it. Good luck with your project and looking forward to seeing the results. 👍
ust found your channel 😀. Love your relaxed style of presentation. Look forward to seeing future videos! I got my first (good) photo of a Goldcrest this year (UKs smallest bird). You should maybe have set up near the Yew bush/tree or was it Leylandii(?); I think they like to hang around in evergreen trees (in my experience of them 😀). Good luck in future outings and Happy Christmas!😀
Merry Christmas Jo. I live not far from there and didn’t know it existed 🤦♂️. There are some great places around Mid Wales, my favourite probably being Llyn Coed y Dinas near Welshpool where recently I’ve been getting some nice photos of Water Rail, I have seen Goldcrest there too but they were too quick for me. My current bucket list though is Crossbills at Kerry Forest, saw them on Monday but too far away and too dim light for my camera. Good luck for your channel in New Year.
I've been to Llyn Coed Y Dinas before and photographed the stoat/weasel that lives in the rubble box off to the right of the carpark. Good luck with the crossbills 👍
I only mention this because i have made similar mistakes, unless you have a reason to, rotate the gimbal so the post is closer to the center line of your pack. That should balance it a little better.
Just found your channel. Hello from South Texas. I always like watching other photographers from across the pond. Like how you talk to the camera as if we are standing next to you. Thanks for bringing us along. About how many shots did you take in this 4 hours trek? Now to start looking at your other videos. Thanks again
The stuff on the lens is from RolanPro which I got off AliExpress (as it's much cheaper on here than in the Amazon store) and the waterproof cover I got here: wildlifewatchingsupplies.co.uk/ 👍
Another nice video. Been from Northern California and the Western United States., it's always a little odd to see your wildlife reserves are surrounded by so many houses. Anyway, merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thanks for your video. Very pretty place to observe birds, very calm. Plenty of places to hide you and shoot birds. Do you put your camera and 200-600 inside the fixation Peak Design near your shoulder ?
Seeing how sparce the birding seems to be there I'm lucky that my local reserve seems to be a concentrated wildlife haven regardless of the time of year.. Several Kingfishers, buzzards, sparrowhawks, all seen daily, LTT's and goldcrests all over the place, and the likes of bluetit and greats etc all around presenting themselves for photos just feet away . Even in the worst of weathers it's difficult to come away from there without a load of "keepers" :)
@@JoHeard The location is just outside cardiff so not a million miles away , there's also alot of SEO sightings in cheltenham right now, tho I'm hoping the cold spell that's promised soon will push them over into wales haha :P
Little tip Jo, when carrying your tripod & gimbal on your bag turn the gimbal head 180' so it sits over the top of your bag & your back will thank you for it
@KingsleyGeorgePouponeau I've also got issues with my back, keeping weight as equal as possible either side in my bags has made a big difference because if your back end's up twisting because of your bag you know about it, I made a modification to my bag so the tripod is carried central on the bag like my smaller bag which has been a game changer for me
Just came across your channel, checked out your Instagram. Wow amazing images, but... there's a but ...you have a spanner.. Well that takes you straight up to the top next to Morten Hilmer
Jo, you need to find somewhere more open, or prune around a perch you like and go back. There are countless locations where bird lovers place seed, often on a daily basis, I know it could be deemed cheating, but if you photograph on the approaches, away from the seed you can get closer. I did this, th-cam.com/video/cYjNRxQ1oh4/w-d-xo.html , from a car park. Oh, and it didn't look like the sun was out long, typical UK.
It's a 3 legged thing, punks, Travis, it's pretty old now, but they have other similar ones 👍 I take out the centre column when using the gimbal head 👍
