Wait, if Japan were a continent and you bought a guitar in Japan, are you buying a guitar incontinent? My incontinence level it's... it's..... OVER 9000!!!
One of my dream guitars is an Edwards Mikio Fujioka 7, the signature of one of the other Babymetal guitar players who's no longer with us, the one with the white pickups and the Floyd. You make travelling to Japan look so fun :)
Nice video! I went to Japan last year and I also went to some of these guitar stores... but I thought the price of Japanese guitars would be lower than their value on the american market, and in the end I think they were a little expensive... The ESP store in Tokyo was one of the best I've been to, and the museum they have there is really cool... but as I already have a few ESPs, and I couldn't find any used ones that I wanted at a good price, I ended up not getting any guitar :/
I plan to go to Japan this summer, and one of the souvenirs and items I plan to bring back is indeed an electric guitar that can be only had from Japan. I can't wait to see Ochanomizu and all the guitar shops in their glory!
Definitely an awesome guitar! I was actually there in Japan at the same time as you and saw some of the places you did, kinda sad I never got to meet you lol, I’m a huge fan of your content
That Takayoshi Ohmura 7 string from ESP is my DREAM GUITAR! He’s my absolute favourite player of all time! How much did everything cost in the end with shipping/taxes/customs etc because I’be always wanted to get a guitar from Japan! They have so many LTD/Esp/Edwards guitars that you can’t get anywhere else, particularly the snapper models (what this shape is!)
Have just imported a seven stribg edwards from bigboss. Very pleased with the quality. Going on a trip to Japan is definitely one of my biggest dreams. Thanks for the video ;)
One of the most refreshing guitar content videos I’ve seen in a while. I’m not jealous at all of that Edwards purchase 🙄. That guitar has been on my list for years. I bought my first Edwards guitar last summer (Syu’s 7 string Snapper) and that neck thickness definitely took me by surprise as well. Even with small hands, the neck is surprisingly playable. It’s easily one of my favorite guitars. Congrats on the purchase and enjoy the shit out of it!
Would love to see a short list of some of the Japan exclusive brands/models you would've considered buying as a metal enjoyer, so I could also browse while here!
Awesome video! Lots of cool guitars, lots of cool sights. All the stage-used Babymetal stuff was one of the highlights of the vid for me - particularly since when I've seen them in North America they had a different backing band with pretty normal instruments. Neat to see what gets used by the "proper" Kami band in Japan. Since you mentioned the pronunciation of Ochanomizu and not sure if you were getting it right - you're really close. The 'cha' portion (茶) is actually the word for tea and the 'a' portion is pronounced more closely to a broad 'a' sound (like the 'a' in 'father' or 'hah') than it is a long 'i.' It's close enough that I imagine everyone would understand what you meant if you said it, though.
Takayoshi Ohmura has multiple ESP signature models which were basically all the ones on the wall (Twinkle pink, Gold, Honey Gold, and Pink Monster) The Red 8 string on the wall next to the BM 9 string, was Isao Fujita's signature Raiden 7 who also played in Babymetal. The other guitar on the wall are 6 and 7 string "Burgundy Mist" Snapper guitars of Mikio Fujioka who died Jan 2018 from injuries sustained from a fall. Ohmura, who has all of his own models, would play Mikio's Guitar (along with Mikio's Kemper Profiler) at all BM shows along with other events. He is currently playing for pop singer A-MEI. Unfortunately these guys haven't played with Babymetal since January 2023. They now use mid players from Cos Player band Galactic Empire and a drummer who changes band more than underwear.
You've reminded me of the coolest thing. When I was in Japan I must have stumbled onto that guitar store street without noticing and walked into a rehearsal store with a cafe. The best idea I wish was a common thing elsewhere
ye guitars & Music gear in general in Japan is totaly worth it! even if its used Guitars or basses you can get it pretty much like a brand new (used only few times) electric guitar for around 100$ or less. this is INSNAE! (i never been in japan but i follow a lot of japanese youtubers that make vlogs about guitar stores sometimes)
I have a few ESPs, and I love em. Their story is pretty cool, all out of Japan. In 1975, Hisatake Shibuya opened a shop called Electric Sound Products (ESP) in Tokyo, Japan. HIs parts were so good he started building full guitars and the rest is history. I've always been impressed by the cheapest ESP I have, the one I use in all my music and vids lately. The low end ESP guitars like the one I have are EFFING AWESOME. You can adjust everything and set it to almost complete perfection. Compared to some other brands I have, there is no comparison on that front. I have almost no need to even use my other guitars at all except that two more are also ESPs. lol
I got my 7 string ESP Baby Metal Arrow from Big boss...And at an amazing price that I would have never gotten here in the USA...The japanese guitars are such good quality.
That first guitar store u went to in Japan is so awesome and the staff were so nice when I went there and they were playing the Bochi the rock opening as well😂
So happy to see you so happy in Japan!! It's also in my bucket list. Also amazing video, I hadnt realized how cool it would be to see guitar stores in Japan!! BTW, were those brolls filmed with an osmo pocket? Quality and steadiness is fantastic!!
Damn dude, did i run into you on this trip? lol... we almost ran the same route . I went to Yokohama for the Gundam, spend alot of time in Akiba and directly went to the ESP store for the Pink Alexi. Bonus, my name is Erick 🤣. I regret not buying the guitar, but I had so much shit on me that I would have needed to ship it for sure. Definitely going back for the Alexi and also to try a Burny.
There are also Ibanez spot models exclusive for Europe and U.S. as well. Wired Guitarist and Killerburst Guitars had their runs of limited rg 652 and 752's (I actually managed to get two of these). Japan has some sick exclusive finishes and models though.
And also, thanks for doing this video man. I'm actually planing on going to Japan next year so it's cool to see how bad this might turn out for my wallet, lol :D
Funny you brought up Ishibashi because I had just found them out the day prior and I'm amazed at how I can get a used Edwards Horizon in great condition shipped to my door for less than a used MH-1000 in the states.
I’m thinking about going with my oldest son next year. Better start saving guitarmoney, it seems, lol. Happy NGD, enjoy and thanks for the awesome video!
I've been planning to hunt down a really cool guitar in Japan for a while, thinking Ibanez or a J - Strandy, I will get there one day - I don't live far from Japan but just haven't gotten there yet! 😂😂😂
Hey Andrew, it would have been fun to meet you at Big Boss when I went over a week ago. back home in Australia, ESP guitars are so expensive and i bought a fantastic E-II Eclipse Quilted Maple for almost half the price i would have paid. In Osaka now, so i may follow your recommendation. Cheers !
I hope that by the time I have enough money, the Alexi Edwards are still available at the same price as now. I love the Alexi guitars but the ESPs are too expensive.
When I tried ordering a MIJ ESP (E-II / Standard), wait time in US is almost a year. When the sales rep at my local store, and Sweetwater told me the same thing. I ended up just buying a prestige Ibanez w/ 2 month wait. ESP just doesn't like selling Internationally besides LTD and US Custom. Guess I gotta just pack my bags.
I would spend waaaay to much money there also strandberg doesn't include a back panel either. They know we are just gonna take them off and lose them anyway lol
Awesome purchase my friend. What was the shipping/shipping costs like? Planning on going to Japan soon. May have to pick up a guitar, or two.

How did you ship the guitar, as a normal shipment or did the shop ship it as a business? How did you handle shipping costs and customs? I am interested just becuse I am planning to go to Japan in the future and would love to get a guitar back home. Thanks

Guitars and japan? best content my man 💚
I wanna go back lol
@@BaenaCarcosa i feel you 😆
Japan is a country not a continent. I don't care if Japan is the best country though, not going all the way there just to buy a guitar.

should have talked to me, played that one when I was in Japan bar
@@oranstakeover8981 I'm too broke now that I'm in college and I prioritize going Ibanez for everything lol
But daaaaaamn how does it feel IRL??
True on the volume knob issue. In BabyMetal, they play about chest high and seem to be playing above the neck pickup the whole time.
A sparkly pink 7 string guitar. Definitely unique… 🤔🤘🏻
Awesome vid! Some stunning guitars and congrats on the new 7 bro! So sick! It's cool that you took the time to share this with us. Thank you
Great video mate🎉 getting me excited again for my trip next month

pink glitter finish and gold hardware looks so sick. hell yeah
If I go to Japan, instead of visiting stores for shopping I would love to visit the factories and workshops instead. And Seki city for knives etc :D
If I go back I’d love to see Fujigen for sure
