Hey I need help! I have 2 problems for mc servers on 2 separate computers... First problem, my server will not start suddenly and java fails to start the server due to two .dll files missing from system 32, its strange since I never deleted anything from system 32... and after reinstalling windows 7, the files are still missing the Minecraft servers are still unable to start on that pc. My second problem is on my personal computer, I start the .bat file and it runs the Minecraft jar file, but instead of starting anything it just skips over it then goes to the pause line. Both of these make no sense at all and I'm getting desperate at this point for a solution to my problems. Any help is appreciated
hello i have a problem when running a forge server on a batch file. on older versions when i put nogui at the end, all the normal things that would show up on the server gui appeared on the console, without needing the double pop-ups, but now if i put nogui the console shows only the text inside the batch file and nothing else after that, i also cant type anything, and after closing it through the X the server runs in the background(i have to close it through task manager) this is my batch file idk what is wrong "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_333\bin\javaw.exe" -server -Xms2048M -Xmx6G -jar forge-1.16.5-36.2.35.jar nogui is this something that has to do with forge maybe not supporting the nogui command?

Hi Jason, you don't install the server.jar file you simply run it using a .bat file if you're on a windows PC, a bash file if you're on a Mac computer, and finally if you're on a Linux PC you simply run the command in the terminal.

FIX: "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-17.0.1\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar server.jar nogui pause This part no longer is part of the fix. I have multiple versions of java jdk installed, but windows didn't find it. don't know if that is just one of those windows problems or not since in Linux I didn't get problems like this(school laptop has Windows since Linux isn't allowed at school because they are afraid you are hacking the school network if they see linux). but the fix basically is putting the entire path to the last java jdk installation's java.exe between quotes instead of java to make it run it with that peciffic executable. quotes are needed since there is a space in the path. however this video actually helped me fix it, since I actually expected the server to use JRE instead of JDK since a minecraft server is more of a consumer application rather than a development platform or such, so before while I figured out the quotes thing by trying things using general terminal syntax and trying what it is in windows, it even failed with the newest jre version. when trying it with just some old jdk version on my computer (17, don't know how old it is) it directly worked. so if those fail and you get that error I described then try to use the direct path to the executable of the java.exe. while in Linux I would look to how to fix the error itself rather than giving it a direct path, on windows the OS breaking is very normal, after all this error started happening after a windows update and also broke my other old minecraft servers and and only affects java when I run it from cmd or bat(I used .cmd extension instead of .bat but should be the same, just like how .sh and .bash often reffer to the same on most distros.) But since windows tends to break such things a lot and very often and at random for random people(you know the windows update lottery where they draw which random users will get what random part of their system broken. also fixing bugs in windows is much harder, and often as good as undoable and actually in many cases it is actually illegal to fix bug in windows itself, so instead just using quotes and a full path is a better option here, since otherwise it might just randomly break again after a update

Batch files are for Windows PC's only. Bash files are for Mac computers. You need to make a Bash file and run that instead to start your server.

Hi Echo, you will need to host your server files on an online server host provider instead of you self hosting your own server.
Some of you may have your ram allocation backwards. I had that issue. Mine is 16 gigs then 8 gigs.
