This kind of Third Person Storytelling is rarely done well, and it gave Ace Combat 04 Way more narrative punch because it was executed flawlessly. I still even think it's better than the Unsung War, and that's a lofty claim.
@@LynxErgo they are mindblowing, especially when you consider the game has built in widescreen when most people hadn't even thought of 16:9 being an option
It's kind of crazy to go from Electrosphere to this in just 2 years. New hardward to work with and all, but still. I swear with gaming in general, it was like there was a steady improvement in graphics and gameplay features throughout the late 80s and 90s, but when the 2000s hit with Halo, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, AC4, Jedi Outcast and a bunch of other titles, it was just a quantum leap over what had been around just a few years prior. Then another decade of steady improvement until the early 2010s after which most games hold up very well graphically today. Even Halo 3 still looks great 16 years on. The early 2000s though, those years just blew gamers away.

Coming back to it brings a lot of memories especially when you launch off from the carrier giving the feeling where ur flight truly began and another ace legend was born.
Thx for the video ^w^ wish i could play this game again, but i havent got a PS2 nor have i found a way to perfectly emulate this game. Guess i'll just have to pray to namco that they'll release an HD collection of Ace Combat one day >:3
I hope so ace combat is my favorite series as it is now I've been a fan sense 2014 god if I turned time back it would be wonderful once a day.....week or a month even
Your work is greatly appreciated, Zap! Sad to hear you gave up on Infinity, but it's understandable. We all wish you good luck with the channel and keep that AC spirit alive!
Hey Zap, I really have come to love your channel, it's great to find a channel like yours that makes extensions of Ace Combat, my favorite video game series, and I love watching your playthroughs of all the Ace Combat games. I wish you the best of luck for the future.
It was as amazing as I remembered. :’) The templin institute just released a video on Stonehenge today so there might be an increase of traffic to this playthough. I’m glad you’re still making videos
Yeah! Thank you Zap, for providing epic Ace Combat soundtracks and content. I still need to finish you AC5 playthrough, but I will try to follow this AC4 series, because that game is simply epic. Here's to hoping that AC7 will be just as epic as these games!
God, the cutscene animation style reminds me so much of Code: Lyoko (or CL reminds me of AC4 I should say), which released almost exactly 2 years later.
It (sorta) follows naming conventions for when the asteroid was first detected. The Acepedia article has some more info and background to the impact, it's a good read
*ALSO,* I *KNOW* "Yellow 13" is conforming his kill of the opposing pilot, but seeing the crash destroyed the narrator's home & family, it feels - To Me - like Yellow 13 is confirming the kill of the Narrator's family. I'm Autistic & look/see things differently that way, so....
Im just looking for AC4-7 games Cause I just got hooked into the series after watching a play through of AC7: Skies Unknown and its ending one of the most satisfying things I've seen since the Modern Warfare Series

Agreed, I always believed AC4 was more memorable.
To me it's more memorable than Zero, but not more memorable than Unsung War.
Ace Combat 5 is my favorite so I’m kind of biased
Almost as good as Zero
I love Ace Combat 04 for having simpler combat dialouge. Almost no plot related ramblings, only pure combat dialogues
“A bomber’s been hit!”
“There’s our welcoming party,”
“Let your escorts handle them.”
Lines that would change my life forever.
*ah man.... what a game dude in early 2000s.*
I keep thinking this game out in 2006 but it actually came out in 2001..gold and its almost been 20 years.
This graphic was literally up there for that time.
Still play it regularly
@@jwilson2793: As would I if I had my PS2 & a working copy of this game
Probably thinking about Ace Combat Zero which came out in 2006.
@@LynxErgo they are mindblowing, especially when you consider the game has built in widescreen when most people hadn't even thought of 16:9 being an option
This was 2001, and the graphics are amazing and quite smooth. these graphics hold up even 20 years later
Wow I thought it was 2004 or 3 when I thought this game came out

I just realized. It's not your base that's a sitting duck. It's the bombers.
*ah man.... what a game dude in early 2000s.*
You could feel the desperation in these early missions.
And slowly build up to the successful ace, Mobius 1

I want an ace combat 4 remastered so bad. It's unbelievable they haven’t made it yet
Same
I *MUST* agree with you!
Imagine that remaster is you playing as yellow 13💀💀💀

19 missions later... the world is saved by a kick-ass ace that defeated the whole enemy army XD
I wonder at what age the storyteller is today in ACX times.
Today’s my birthday! A victory would be nice.

You could transpose Sitting Duck to any mission 1 in every Strangereal world games, and it would work. You can't change my mind

Curious how the model will look like in the special edition package :)
This game taught me a life lesson growing up- the world is a shite show. Too bad any form of entertainment today is not raw or captivating.
great job on 1000 subs
Im very REGRET!!! i didn't 100% finish the game bcz the boss level! Damn!!
This would have been easier with the x49 night raven.
Could you be a bit less good at the game please? I want to hear the BGM lul
