    This woman reminds me of those "chefs" that made all those cookbooks in the 60s that taught you how to make an "elegant" dish for your husband's dinner party, using only JELLO, mayonnaise, hot dogs, and bananas. Don't forget the olives and coconut shavings for garnish.

      @@anamedina5415 I remember watching her show on Food Network. The name "semi-homemade" means that some of the recipes would have homemade elements to them. However, none of hers did. The show should have been called, " some assembly required". :-D

      @chewliemukbangs6628 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@helpfulnatural Wrong! Sandra Lee is a trained chef and her show was called semi-home made because the recipes are made at your home and contain store bought ingredients. She is a great chef and all of her recipes are made at home with store bought items and sometimes they are tweeked like when she adds cinnamon and cocoa to the store bought frosting. You people are so weird, and so is Emmy. Also, when I watch cooking shows I don't care about the history of a recipe, I am there for the food. And this show was only a 30 minute show, no time for silly history lesson, just cook! And that's what Sandra Lee did. I guess Emmy is jealous cause Sandra is a real chef. LOL You can go to culinary school too if you want Emmy!

    I love how she keeps saying "acorns" instead of "corn nuts." Acorns are poisonous to humans (unless you process them correctly), but whether you use acorns or corn nuts doesn't matter, because the whole thing is inedible.

    • @karenbrier9555
      @karenbrier9555 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      yes! i remember years ago my sons and i went on a walk & collected acorns. you have to go through hell and back to make sure they are edible and not lethal! and of course, as boys, they wanted to try the time-consuming process and they were still scary tasting!

    • @tameniai
      @tameniai 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Acorns are edible but they have to be soaked or, preferably, boiled. They can be eaten raw but only in small quantities. But given this dingbat I can only imagine that somebody just shelled some acorns and tossed them on.

    • @ts121084
      @ts121084 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      🤦🏽‍♂️She had to use an understandable synonym for “Corn Nuts” because it is a registered trademark. If she had mentioned the brand name, the Food Network would have had to pay licensing fees. (How did your comment get 266 likes? Are people really this unsophisticated? Sweet Jesus.)

    • @maggierose7104
      @maggierose7104 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      and that would be fine if “acorns” was an acceptable synonym for “corn nuts” but it's not. It was irresponsible of her to use acorns as an alternative term because there are plenty of people that don’t know that acorns are toxic for humans to eat. She should've said “dried corn snack” or something more accurate. Choosing to use a different name for a brand-name item is very clearly not the issue here. Way to be rude for no reason, dude.

    • @maggierose7104
      @maggierose7104 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Eh... I don't know if I'd call this cake racist in the sense that it was created with the intention of disparaging African Americans... but if I were African American, I'd be insulted by this monstrosity. And, come to think of it, if I were Jewish, I'd be insulted by her "Hanukkah" cake. And if I were Christian, I'd be offended by her "Christmas" cake(s). Wait a minute... I AM Christian, and I am offended by all three of these cakes. Angel food cake wasn't meant to go with frosting, people, especially not with the store-bought, chemical-tasting variety. It's against the wishes of every religion and culture that has ever been.

    So she puts cocoa powder (which is bitter as fuck mind you) in her kwanzaa cake when she could have just used chocolate frosting instead.

    • @ItsOver9000000
      @ItsOver9000000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      That is true, but it's one thing to make your own frosting from scratch and another to use store bought and try to doctor it up. If she made the frosting from scratch (which isn't hard to do and she has made frosting from scratch before) then I can understand using cocoa powder, but since she used store bought white frosting it would have saved time to just use chocolate frosting since her thing is "saving time and money in the kitchen."
      I dunno, I just find it kind of strange how she buys store bought things that aren't that hard to make and tries to doctor them up instead of making them herself.

    • @SWRadioConcepts
      @SWRadioConcepts 8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      The frosting has enough suger, you don't need to add more sugar with the cocoa powder.
