The Asian Bradman, made big score but most of them were in drawn games i.e. against Eng in 1971 first Test, 1974 and against India on dead wickets of Faisalabad. Pakistan needed Zaheer to score big against Eng in the 3rd Test 1971 and against Aus 1973 3rd Test. I would rate Javed Mianadad and Inzy better batsmen than Zaheer, a batsman is good if he comes good when the team needs him most. No point scoring double centuries when all you get a boring draws.

Unfortunately cricket greatness is looked upon by objectivity where Zaheer averages around 45 compared to around 52 by Miandad No doubt absolute stylish player and he destroyed spinners and medium and fast medium bowlers but in test cricket is record against genuine fast bowlers and short pitched bowling was not as good as Miandad. But a legend so let us stop comparing these two legends!!

Without doubt our Asian Bradman was is and will always be the best. His skill sets and talents were fine tuned and enhanced during his playing career with Gloucestershire. A run machine of the highest calibre. He was brilliant player of both pace and spin. He had a technical & shrewd understanding of the game. I was privileged to see him play in the John Players League with Gloucestershire and his wrist play was magical. The closest to him were mohammed Azhurrudin but even then ZA sb was a league of his own. He played with his fellow compatriot Sadiq Mohammed who also was a class player. ZA was without doubt one of the best players of his time and this can be benchmarked against his performances when touring for Pakistan and playing in the counties. May Allah swt bless him and better late than never to be acknowledged by the ICC for his class performances
