I have two LP records in styrene. A collection of jazz greats and Sarah Vaughan. Both on Forum Records sold in grocery stores and similar places. They don't sound that bad.

Everyone can see that VHS was good enough. And the later Videoplus Nicam stereo VCRs record analog audio as good as top end reel to reels. And you get pictures too ! (But not ABS)

I had a chrysler cirrus that came with a tape. They didnt just talk about ABS they talked about all of the features of the car. these 90's car videos always have the corniest music in the background. That was a great car. Oh yeah and VWestlife - in this chrysler video they show the IBM PS/2 machines the cars were designed with at 0:47 of the video. Here is the video - th-cam.com/video/9xN_1IAoXpE/w-d-xo.html

I liked your review for several reasons. First, I appreciated your observations about the quality of the tape housing and recycling. I have VHS tapes dating back to 1980 which I still view. I've noticed, with approval, how the tape housings and packaging became lighter over the years. In my opinion, producing housings from type 5 recyclable plastic is preferable to unrecyclable polystyrene, as you infer. Second, I like your comment about the usability of the Funai tape recorder: it's inexpensive, durable (as you inferred of its vintage) and of acceptable quality, so what's not to like? My own player is a refurbished Magnavox dual DVD-VHS that I used for years as a teacher and continue to use in retirement. I am a fan of the pre-owned economy (car, house, photo, stereo, etc.) Third, I like the VHS programme you presented in its entirety. My first vehicle with ABS, a '95 Mercury Mystique, had no such instructions to prep my learning curve (I commuted +2 hours daily to my college position). I liked the instructional quality of the content and found it worthwhile to watch in its entirety. So thank you, once again, for another informative and entertaining review.

I thought the video would've looked and sounded worse considering how cost-cut the tape is, and how cheap of a VHS player was being used for playback

Does anyone know what capturing method VWestlife uses to capture VHS tapes? The video looks outstanding! I saw another comment where he mentions he uses QTGMC to deinterlace
the video but I was wondering how he goes about actually capturing the video itself

Probably that tape and VCR wouldn’t stand up as well as nicer designs in the long term but there’s nothing to complain about here. I’d say your modern digitization of that low-end vintage playback is better than a good number of older videos uploaded to TH-cam.
