    One of my favourite colour schemes from the Horus Heresy period, I remember my mind being blown finding out my all red Khorne Warriors used to be white and blue. One of favourite videos so far too, great work guys. Also Henry I now cannot hear your voice without hearing 'typical Frog bulls*t' that absolutely slayed me on one of the previous podcasts...best quote ever
    For context this was Henry talking about Lord Kroak trapping the Lord of Earthquakes under a mountain. Typical Frog Bullsh*t 😂

    Nice work.
    Contrast paints are great through an airbrush, also really enjoying the citadel clear range through the airbrush too. they have a glossy transparency that's amazing for things like Tyranids layering them over multicoloured preshading.

    Every week I learn a new trick from these videos. This week it was to highlight decayed metal with runelord brass.
    Tried it today and it works brilliantly. It’s amazing how differently paints can work in combination. Usually I’d only used runelord brass to highlight something like Balthasar gold. It has a much different effect on the decayed metal, and likewise the decayed metal looks different when highlighted with runelord brass.
    Maybe this is something i should have known already but it clicked in my head today.

    I like teh color scheme with the Tamiya paints. There seems to be some silvering under the decals. A solid base of gloss varnish and some MircroSol and MicroSet with a second coat of gloss could help here. Looking forward to your next legion video...

    • @cultofpaint
      @cultofpaint  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As addressed in the video, even though following the "correct" process of gloss, set&sol etc as per our "how to apply decals" video the result was poor. It was user error on my part, nothing to do with the process.

    Just got done watching your entire HH series. This video is my favorite. I like all of the lighter schemes you do, but your DA/NL schemes not so much. Just personal preference. I notice though, that you don't tend to do a a whole lot of edge highlighting, aside from the shoulders and the mini still comes out looking great. I love that about your work, as i'm usually anal retentive about the edge highlights at the onset, and then regretting it, once i'm done.

    I really struggle with spiderwebbing when trying to be accurate with the smaller highlights. I use the same Flat White 1:4 X-20a thinner mix but even at 20psi i really struggle. Any tips?

    • @cultofpaint
      @cultofpaint  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could drop the pressure a bit, but that risks speckling. Perhaps try moving a little quicker to ensure you don't get a build up of paint any where.

    • @Shrimpmakro
      @Shrimpmakro 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could also mix some drops of drying retarder in it. I don't know if tamiya has something in their range but mr. color retarder mild works really well and should be compatible with tamiya. But make sure that you let your models dry longer. www.mr-hobby.com/en/product1/category_7/160.html

    • @cultofpaint

    How many coats of the Lucky varnishes do you apply usually? Maybe it's just perception but I feel like the polyurethane varnishes give a more durable protection so not sure if I need to do plenty of coats with the Lucky varnishes to get similar protection

    • @cultofpaint
      @cultofpaint  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      probably 2-3. I'm only using them to change the finish, not for any protection. Gloss will always give you better protection, so you could apply that first then your satin/matte
