As a non medical person I was not aware of how much equipment and setup is involved in bypass surgery. Thankyou for showing us what is needed . I for one if I ever needed such surgery will be more appreciative of what is done before hand.
I hope people recognize the value of STEM when they are choosing a career. This would not be possible without the wonderful science community, as are so many other things taken for granted
I wish we could have seen the ACTUAL Heater/Cooler being Turned on, and circulated, and set up, because, TH-cam has A LOT of pump priming videos, but lacks operation of the Heater/Cooler!
For Terumo model FX 25, i think the the arterial filter is intergrated together inside the oxygenator.....seen it once before, but if you wanna be safer, you can use the arterial filter.....
Is the tube setup all done without gloves? What about sterility? Or is that not an issue? Is it generally accepted that you can touch the outside of the tubing but the inside rarely gets touched, so the whole unit is still sterile?

Lok Tin Lam no generally we wear glove but this is just a tutorial
It's okay to touch the tubing without gloves, but the inside of the tubing that the blood actually passes through must remain untouched and sterile
thank you
Now tell us what goes wrong at each step if you do it wrong
Spoken like an honest observer
