There is so much potential in some of the concepts that he mentioned. As an aspiring architect, I wonder how I might be able to apply biomimicry

WOW, How well stated & the photos you depicted to go alone with what you were saying, it was like watching a movie that totally had me captivated! Something very hard to do for me, also I never leave comments but this touched me in away that I had to thank you on behalf of all who see it as I can't be one of a few but one of so many, & knowing that because of my job I don't comment, as my label would have a fit but felt so compound to thank you that I really didn't care now about my Label, as I changed my name on here as I thought it was so important of a issue and felt compelled to praise your intelligence and ingenuity and I don't even how I got on to his page, God bless and keep you & all those you hold dearest, Gina~

I loved this talk, but, so many architects in this room and no one realized showing a white presentation in a white room washed in bright sun light wasn't such a good idea?

I hope that the Ecological Age will be soon in our countries. We need to re-invented our own human ecosystem, that it is in reality very untenable.

37:14 wouldn't a normal Greenhouse be enough. You would have either one or 2 water river ( a fixed structure which can hold water. Will them with saltwater it evaporate condensates and can be used

you know that technology that makes the non-popping bubbles that you can hold in your hands....the ones that make the bubbles solid after a while?
use that to make your structure solid

I disagree. A sustainable relationship ought to sound pretty good when half of all marriages end in divorce. It implies a balance that makes both partners happy enough to want the relationship to continue and neither partner is planning to make their escape. They are probably even having fun together. Quite an accomplishment nowadays! The fact is, I never hear of relationships described as sustainable. That's sad.
But of course "sustainable" has become a relatively meaningless buzzword. It's constantly being appropriated by products and processes that aren't truly sustainable, like biofuels and nuclear energy. People like to oversimplify problems to the point of ridiculousness. As if the only thing we have to do to survive is to reduce our CO2 emissions. Nobody bothers to point out that reducing CO2 emissions is not even a viable strategy (assuming for the moment that global warming and rising oceans are even real problems) and evolving our food growing technologies and preferences and moving our cities to slightly higher ground to adapt to slightly higher temperatures and ocean levels is far more likely to generate sustainable results.
Overall though, good talk. We need more people making closed loop systems. If it takes biomimicry to inspire and inform that, so be it.

everything in nature moves in response to heat...
as the sun moves across the sky the gel/liquid/stuff inside cells changes density and so the plant moves to face the sun....the petals open and the leaves turn....
    It's super fuckin simple.....
Seriously Michael and velux team....do i need to slap ya'll in the face....
