Only problem with an orginal BSG reboot is most of the orginal cast are dead , and recasting all those roles with new actors destroys the concept of being the Orginal series, think Dirk Benedict is the only orginal left and he is in or nearly in his 70s so you would have Commander Starbuck as captain of the Galatica, with new faces being new crew the children that grew up in space. Guess Boxy could be the new space rogue ( like Starbuck used to be) Which reminds me you have to state that Galactica 1980 never happened.
Edit looked up Dirk B. He is 79yrs old now 2025, doing a new tv series might be too hard on him . So you would have a reboot without a single returning cast member, that wont pass as the Orginal BSG reboot it would just be a new version more in the orginal mood.

This whole thing could be tangential but keeping the look and feel and updating only a small part of the visual effects, everything else the same. The 2003 reboot was depressing, and far too serious about itself...Worse, they gender swapped Starbuck from the original into a woman, not to mention the other male characters suffering the same unforgivable atrocity. Then they executed Richard Hatch's character because he was leading a rebellion against the Galactica. It mirrored his real life efforts to bring the series back, but the reboot saw fit to humiliate him in their twisted story. The original Movie absolutely blows the 2003 reboot out of the water.

Galactica was great because it gave us hope. Staying true to the Original is ALWAYS a winning move. Kathleen Kennedy's biggest mistake with STAR WARS Galaxy's Edge was NOT making it from 1977, but what Disney has done since 2015 sighting that Disney needed to appeal to people in their 30s & 40s and to forget about those of us in our 50s and up. But the truth is that: Nobody wants to see Jakku, but everybody wants to see Tatooine! From Galactica I want to see more of the 12 Colonies, and the Fleet. In Larson's Galactica books a Battlestar was HUGE! About the size of Darth Vader's Command Ship. Adama stated that: "it would take a Hiker years to walk through and see all the decks & rooms on Galactica. The ship we got on TV was Imperial Cruiser size.

It can't be the Kelvin timeline, because in that timeline Kirk goes straight from the academy to the Enterprise, and in Strange New Worlds Kirk is an officer on another ship.
However, the fact that it's not Kelvin doesn't mean it's the prime universe of TOS. These properties are nearly 50 years old but somehow are making a bigger and bigger impact on the youth today. I think the message is clear. Just give us back our original Battlestar Galactica story and characters! Heck! Do the same for our Star Wars characters while we're at it too!! . . We don't need a third retelling of the fall of the Colonies and their Exodus to find Earth. If you are watching Battlestar Galactica, you probably already know. But picking up a generation into this fleet that is still searching for Earth could be fascinating! (And maybe lure a certain Dirk back to the screen?) Ignore G1980, and that transmission of the Eagle moon landing was a wibbly wobbly spacey thing.

Instead of everyone dropping on Earth's doorstep, the story is that they know how to get there, but try to delay as long as possible discovery by the Cylons. They send one group to leave a trail of misdirection while the rest go to Earth with enough technology to begin uplifting the locals to the point where they can attempt to resist what may come.

It makes no sense to place the new story within the universe of Ronald D Moore's BSG because that show had a definitive ending. There is nowhere to go with it. The long, ragged, wild looking hairstyles, the suede jackets and boots and also retro styled computer systems/flight decks and avionics controls for the fighter jets are essential to have the feel of the OG universe too.

I agree & found this online by a simple Google search. Some will disagree, but those who like the new crap will get angry. It's certainly not Star Trek in the least other than name & character re-use. Just like the Kelvin timeline. The only real Star Trek was from 1966-2005.
"According to recent reports, "Star Trek: Discovery" has been officially declared non-canon, meaning it is no longer considered part of the main Star Trek timeline, with the final episode of "Star Trek: Lower Decks" confirming that it takes place in an alternate universe separate from the prime timeline; effectively "erasing" it from the canon.
      Key points about this "discanonization":
      Reason for removal:
Many fans and critics felt "Discovery" deviated too much from the established Star Trek universe.
      Confirmation source:
The final episode of "Lower Decks" is cited as the definitive source confirming "Discovery" as non-canon.

Heres some additional ideas for a new classic 'Battlestar Galactica,' re-activation.
Katee Sackoff could be in the new series as Starbuck and Cassiopeia 's oldest daughter on the series... as a Viper Pilot, as a mother--with Starbuck and Cassiopeia's grandkids. Katee could change her look to adapt to the new 'Battlestar' series by letting her hair grow out but retaining her other Starbuck characteristics.
Tricia Helfer could be a new 'Basestar,' commander whose eyes turn to Red when she is in their Basestar commander position and whose eyecolor is of a different color depending on the position she is in at the time. She can actually go on 'away,' missions when she needs, or wants to.
Grace Park can be Boomer (Herbert Jefferson Jr.), adopted daughter who was trained by Boomer, Apollo, Sheba, and Starbuck.
You could also have a new female Triad game for the female pilots in a traditional role as wearing more 'Cheesecake,' uniforms to compete / compare with the 'Beefcake,' versions the male players wore and wear in updated fashion designs.
The actresses and actors from the 're-imagined,' two-thousand' series would fit in really well.

So this makes what??? 3 times failing since 2019 to fire up an original series-type reboot???
They should go back to the Pegasus story they originally were going to try. That way if they eff it up it won't really hurt the actual BSG original canon.
There is at least 9 hours worth of storylines out there already written they could at least use as a template.
I think maybe Universal needs to lease the rights out to someone else and let them have a shot at making something. The Pegasus storyline would be great if it did succeed they would still hold the rights to the Galactica story they could revive after 4 or so years of a Pegasus storyline working as was done with Deep Space 9 and Voyager or Discovery and Strange New Worlds. Universal could still control the rights to the Cylon attack on the Colony worlds with the Pegasus show only allowed enough latitude with it to start their storyline off.

Great video first of all. Second, I hope they don't try to bring back BSG for one reason you brought up, they would want to make it like Mandalorian. Season 2 and 3 of Mando was very divisive in the sense that it was used to push political/social messages to the audience. Star Wars was not perceived by the audience to be that which is why so many are disappointed with the franchise. The age of using sci-fi for a platform has to die out as people don't want that anymore. Mainly because we are in the 21st century and we are no closer to that fabled utopia than predicted. Many fans just want an adventure that has growth, structure and continuity so we can invest our time and money to follow. They can either sell a story or tell a story. They always pick to sell a story which is where we see our beloved stories get destroyed through "politics". The best idea for a BSG reboot was the one Richard Hatch attached himself to. It is unfortunate that NBC said no and he passed away. The days for BSG are behind us moreso than in front of us. SIGH....

I'll go on record to say I love both versions of the series (As long as the Galactica 1980 is thrown out). Each spoke to the audience of their time. At the time of 2003's start I compared it to how Gundam has its UC and AU timelines. I'm disappointed, because a big part of the reason I got Peacock when it started up was because of this prospective series. Fortunately, it turned out to be a useful streamer to have, but it's disappointing to see that a new Battlestar Galactica of any kind isn't coming anytime soon.

They should go back to the original ideas for BSG and bring that to the screen. Make it look more like an ancient human civilization and less USA in space, weaving-in ancient mythologies. Visually it should look ancient, futuristic and even alien in some ways - but the characters and their humanity, the very thing they are trying to preserve is what should make it relatable. They could do something for the whole family, sure with some darker undertones - it is about the extermination of the human race after all. Why not bring back Boxey and Muffit on one hand, and the Imperious Leader, Baltaar and Lucifer on the other? Whoever does it will need to spend a decent money on it to do it right, a low budget rehash of the reboot isn't worth anyone's time.

I had no idea a new Battlestar was coming our way. I was a kid when the original aired and loved how they fled their planet to survive from being wiped out of existence from the cool looking bad ass one Lazer eye silver robot Cylons. There was infighting between the humans as they searched for the last colony of the planet Earth which they had no idea if Earth was even real or not and that was a great story arc twist. Fantasy heroes wondering if we were real!!
The newer series had the same storyline and then the short prequels gave us the creation of the Cylons. We even got human looking Cylons were some of them didn't even know they were Cylons.
As a fan, I'm not interested in a reboot. I guess the only storyline I'd care about is something new where the Cylons are attacking Earth and maybe we team up with members from the Galactica to fight them or Galactica grabs Earth survivors and flees again.

Your assessment of what Universal Studios SHOULD DO to revive Battlestar Galactica as a truly valid, family friendly and highly lucrative franchise property is absolutely correct and totally right on the money! Well said. In fact, I don't think I could have stated it any better. But please allow me to at least take a stab at it, if I may. But fair warning; what follows is definitely a lot longer than the overly simplistic one liners that most people are used to seeing on the Internet, so if you'd rather not read on, then by all means, don't even bother. It's surely no sweat off my nose if you don't.
That said, like millions of other kids, I was totally head over heels in love with the original series, and still am to this very day. Come to think of it, I might even love Glen A. Larson's often much too easily and wrongfully dismissed sci-fi TV extravaganza even more than Star Wars; that increasingly bloated and now sadly totally off course Disney mis-owned cash cow that was supposedly a "ripoff" of the aforementioned rival space opera set "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away."
And although I think that Ronald D. Moore and company are extremely adept creatives in their own right, I did NOT enjoy what they unfortunately did to the legacy of classic original BSG. Sure, I watched every single episode of the "re-imagined" series, and some parts of it were arguably somewhat "better," or certainly more "modern," than the original show, but overall, in my humble opinion, the 2003-09 series was nowhere near the extremely high caliber of classic original Battlestar Galactica.
Thus, I have long thought that the show does NOT in fact need to be "rebooted." It does NOT need to be made into a needlessly graphic, so-called "gritty," and often even rather low-class, pornified low-budget looking mockery of the original series. Hockey helmets?! Seriously? They actually used commercially available hockey helmets in the re-imagined series? Yes they darn well did! And they even used WOOD FIBER PEG BOARD (painted battleship gray) to dress many of the interior sets of their often just plain ugly "re-imagining" of the original series.
Worse still, there was even a scene in one of the "re-imagined" post-series TV movies which showed a woman with bare breasts in a bar sequence. Okay, sure, most of us men (and even plenty of women) love to ogle actors in various states of undress, but honestly, was that even necessary? In fact, like most Hollyweird nude and full-blown sex scenes these strange days indeed, it was totally unnecessary and did not enhance the plot in any appreciably pertinent way whatsoever. But then, that post-series add-on was directed by THE Edward James Olmos himself, whom, sure, I loved when he played Gaff in Blade Runner (1982), but the REAL Commander Adama (aka Lorne Greene) is NOT, and NEVER will be, a hot-tempered psycho who could literally beat a "skin job" Cylon to death, as depicted in the 2003 pilot for the series. Whether the actor playing Adama happens to be wearing blue contact lenses or not!
I could go on forever, but in the interests of cutting this short, I'll just summarize by saying that what the Battlestar Galactica franchise DOES need, and what Universal Studios will eventually do (IF, that is, if the people now running the studio are even one iota smarter than the idiots who foolishly cancelled the original series back in 1979) is to return to the look, feel, and overall flavor of the original series. Period. Full stop. End of story. In other words, even if all of the characters have to be recast because they're now "too old" to fit the parts they once played, any new production should absolutely take up where the original series left off. In fact, Dirk Benedict, Herbert Jefferson Jr., and Anne Lockhart could all still be cast as other, though admittedly now probably minor, characters. Heck! Even Jane Seymour is still one exceptionally fine looking lady, and I always thought that Gregory Peck would have made an outstanding Commander Adama.
And sorry (not sorry) wokies, NO RACE OR GENDER SWAPPING! For example, Colonel Tigh and Lt. Boomer should still be portrayed by dashing, handsome black MEN (like Terry Carter and Herb Jefferson Jr.), and if you wanna toss in more Asians than were typically seen in the original, then fine, go ahead. Knock your revisionist socks off, I guess. But, psst! Richard Hatch actually played Native Indian or Hawaiian (and other more or less Asian looking) parts before being cast in Battlestar Galactica. And okay, Lorne Greene was Canadian, but he was also Jewish (so he sometimes went by the name "Chaim"), and like Leonard Nimoy (who often played Indians or even a Yuan Dynasty Chinese official in one particular case), many people of Eastern European/Asiatic origin can not only pass for Caucasians, but they can sometimes look downright Far Eastern as well. Uh... do a Google image search for Ezra Miller. Go ahead. I'll wait. And uh... I think we can safely say that Athena (Maren Jensen) is at least half Asian (if not full) something or other. Unlike Grace Park, who is full Korean-Canadian-American (or whatever!), and most importantly, the lovely Ms. Jensen did not look entirely out of place playing Apollo's sister/Adama's daughter.
So yes, that means that they should either totally ignore almost everything that transpired in Galactica 1980 (a show that even Glen Larson sincerely regretted doing, with the exception of The Return of Starbuck, of course) AND that needlessly graphic, seedy "re-imagined" trainwreck (that I fully acknowledge many fans still honor and adore, and hey, more power to 'em!), but if the folks at Universal Studios have any sense at all, they will indeed return to all of the original series designs, including the classic ships, the ancient Egyptian inspired flight helmets, the Jean-Pierre Dorléac designed uniforms, etc. Of course they would need to update and otherwise tweak various things here and there, such as the fact that special effects have come a very, very long way since 1978. If nothing else they could very easily upgrade the look of the standard model Cylon Centurion. You know, so that they no longer clumsily stumble around because they're really just out of work basketball players who can't see well through the narrow eye holes in those gleaming, otherwise gorgeous original series helmets!
Do you copy that, Universal Studios? Because in fact, you've STILL got a HUGELY popular and potentially extremely lucrative sci-fi property on your hands. And I think you darned well know it too. So whatever you do, DON'T let revisionist entertainment history hacks like David Eick (Ick!) and Ronald D. Moore get their exploitive R-rated hands on our beloved classic ever again. Okay! if the "re-imagined" fans are so hot and eager for gratuitous boob shots and cheesy, cheap-looking, non-properly Galactica authentic costumes, then by all means, keep watching your DVD sets ad infinitum. Because seriously, Ron Moore really is an extremely talented writer and producer, having done wonders when he worked on Star Trek for Paramount. But let's face it, "The tree is known by its fruit." And the fruit that Moore seems to prefer to grow these days is packed full of boob shots and needlessly prolonged sex scenes in shows like... oh... OUTLANDER!
Okay, I'm of Scottish-Irish lineage myself, so I enjoy watching that show every now and then, but... to be quite honest, Claire (Caitríona Balfe) reminds me way, way too much of my own dear Scots-Irish American mother. So, honestly, I really don't want OR NEED to be forced to see such a lovely, talented young actress butt-naked, shamelessly pretending to copulate for what seems like a full HALF of some episodes. Crikey! Even the shape of her pale Irish wrists and hands remind me of me dear old mum. So PLEASE, for Crike's sake, Ron Moore and company! Could you maybe offer a more family friendly version of Outlander (or whichever historical epic set in the British Isles)? Okay, admittedly, my mother had six kids, so I'm quite sure that she had to "get busy" at least that many times herself, but... come on, all you shamelessly debauched Hollyweirdos, enough already! You wanna make softcore pornos, go right ahead. There is definitely a SEPARATE market for that kind of thing, but PLEASE stop trying to cram that kind of gratuitous content down everyone's throats all the time. You know, just because, in our increasingly debauched western "free world," you can actually get away with it. Just a thought. :)

@@battlestarcollectica7106 Thank you very much. As a diehard classic original Galactica fan, I seriously enjoy your channel, and I save every single one of your video releases to my "sci-fi - Battlestar Galactica" TH-cam list (which may currently be set to "private," I'm not even sure, I'll have to check). At any rate, I apologize for writing such a long comment, but as far as I'm concerned, it had to be done to actually appropriately define the sheer, sadly frustrating length and breadth of the problem that all of us classic BSG fans have been vexed by since... oh, at least way back in 1979, 80, or thereabouts.
Because unlike Star Trek:TOS, which luckily got to run for at least a full three seasons, Universal Studios and the ABC Network quite simply pulled the plug/the proverbial rug, out from under Galactica much, much too quickly. Even worse, they were also ultimately responsible for pretty much ALL of the series' admitted shortcomings right from the very start - in that Glen Larson and company needed an addition year (at the very least) to more fully develop and plan the show, but sadly, all the usual money people (who typically know BIG FAT ZERO SQUAT about actually being creative) were so eager to capitalize on the unexpected mega-success of Star Wars, that they pushed (nay, HOUNDED) the producers, writers, SPFX team behind the scenes, the cast, and the crew, etc, etc. of classic BSG to prematurely rush the show into production.
Now, as far as recasting all the original characters (with the proviso that most, if not all of them, should actually look and behave more or less like the people who originally portrayed them), that, for me, has long been a very tough conclusion to come to. But I finally only arrived at it because I honestly think that fan generated shows like "Star Trek: New Voyages/Phase II" and "Star Trek: Continues" have clearly illustrated in recent years how a classic sci-fi series really should be resurrected. In fact, it would have been infinitely preferable if Richard Hatch had lived long enough to play Adama, with a younger actor who strongly resembles him cast as Apollo, but alas, sadly, that particular ship has now well and truly set sail. May God rest his soul.
At any rate, Starbuck was (and always will be) an incredibly awesome BSG character - played to absolute perfection by Dirk Benedict, no less - but Apollo has always been my personal favorite. But then Boomer has also always been a very close second for me, because I don't know about anyone else, but Herb Jefferson Jr. really did an outstanding job with a secondary (or even tertiary) role that he often didn't even get all that much screen time to play. As a result, I have always thought that, from a hypothetical second season onward, the show could have matured to where the three hottest pilots (Apollo, Starbuck, and Boomer) would be much more central to each week's storyline - instead of the unnecessary (but sometimes very interesting) rivalry between polar opposites (but also close friends for that very same reason), Captain Apollo and Lt. Starbuck. But come to think of it, I guess that actually did happen anyway, but with the Apollo, Starbuck, and Sheba triumvirate. Hmm.
Granted, Star Trek: New Voyages/Phase II has long been notorious for the casting of often amateur actors to reprise the roles played by legendary, high caliber professionals such as Shatner and Nimoy, but that doesn't mean that a classic BSG revival project would have to hire "bad" (or more appropriately, mostly inexperienced) actors. Trust me; put out an authentic, potentially high paying casting call, and I guarantee you that literally thousands of actors, young and old, who could genuinely look and act the respective parts of all the various classic BSG characters would come calling ("with bells on"), just for the chance to actually WORK. Goodness knows, some incredibly talented and/or extremely good looking people never even manage to make it in Tinseltown simply because of... well, all sorts of personal reasons, usually known only to the actors themselves and the relatively small number of all too fallible folks commonly tasked with hastily casting all "the right people" for a given project.
Lastly... gosh, I guess I've done it again, haven't I? But I am quite sure that I have not, in fact, "digressed." Because, as with my initial comment above, the final and omnipresent point is that a beloved sci-fi extravaganza like Battlestar Galactica must be carefully planned and appropriately executed, and a "reboot" is NOT at all necessary. In fact, I guess, if you really think about it, I'm actually arguing for what might be called a "soft reboot." Because really, all the term actually truly means is to restart your computer, and thereby get right back to what you were doing in the first place! It does NOT mean that a given classic TV series or movie franchise has to be "re-imagined" or turned into something that it was clearly never meant to be in the first place. All that said, I 100% agree that "Hollywood is creatively bankrupt." And much is the pity indeed.

Hey fellow BSG TH-camr! I'm not sure that millions have been spent on the development of this new series, because Sam Esmail only mentioned that he read a great outline (which is not even a full script) in October 2023, and the latest known showrunner, Derek Simonds, was announced just a year ago. Has a pilot episode been directed between this and last summer when we learned that the show was cancelled? It is not impossible, but however highly improbable.
But apart from this, I agree with you and I find interesting that the network wanted a family show when Sam Esmail repeated numerous times that his series would happen in the same universe than Ron Moore's show. If this is the case, the network definitely did not understand the franchise the wanted a new series from.
But I must admit that I never thought of a new series that was a continuation of the original show (this was dead to me since the failure of the BSG The Second Coming attempt), and I must say that this would actually be a very good idea. I'm a huge fan of the reboot, but I also love the original and I speak of both shows in my French podcast. A new series that would be the continuation of the original series would be great, because this one never had a proper ending, and this would avoid the risk of any retcon of the reboot.

Not because the original show is better, but because it is more episodic in nature.
Its easier to tune in and lose yourself for an hour, vs. the new show which is more of a continuing story.
Strange New Worlds understood this when they went back to a more episodic format over Picard.
But I do think that the new show was better. The shows tagline "All this has happened before and all this will happen again" is true, that pretty much everything that happened in the original show, happened in the new show. But it was presented in a more realistic fashion.

I could be wrong. Also there is a danger of going in the direction of Picard- saying things just because they can not that it fits into their universe.

It's one of the cool comments by a fan in the comments section below. He / she says,'we don't want a 'Battlestar Galactica,' that is 'Approved by NASA,' and he's got it! We want a show like the original Glen A. Larson production, with actual models used to enhance the visual effects by the modern day computers. The dogfights in space should be like the original series just enhanced, but better--when things go by to fast on screen its just hurts the atmosphere and even the grace and beauty of the shots / angles used in the scene.
The Cylons in future series should make slight advancements of their own. Perhaps a third engine design which is used as a 'turbo boost,' to catch up to the Vipers in combat, or they instal a 'turbo boost,' on the two engines they elready have to keep up with the colonial Vipers which causes the 'Galactican,' fleet to make newer, more advanced Vipers to regain their advantage against the Cylon Raiders. Maybe adding a fourth engine, or a fifth for the extra speed. These newer engines could be even more adaptive to space and oxygen atmospheres.
They also need to explain how the cockpits hold on to the rest of the Viper in flight. (Herbert Jeffersen Jr.'s question I believe.)
On another note , why wasn't ''Universal,' prepared with two versions of 'Battlestar Galactica,' one 'Classic,' and the other 'reimagined,' version so the could cover all their Basestars (So to speak).
Lack of planning, or lack of vision?
Would Dirk Benedict or Anne Lockhart or any of the original actors / actresses really ask for that much...?
One of the aspects I did not like in the 'novels,' was that Starbuck and Cassiopeia,' never got married and hade a couple of kids to have links to the classic series... Athena and Greenbean getting married and having kids would make for Adamas descendents to be on / in the new series to re-establish links to the new series, and basically rectifiy a wrong done to Maren Jensen.

The two most common reasons people would give me for not watching the 2003 series? The first was "I liked the original and don't need to see a reboot of it" and the second was "I didn't like the original and don't need to see a reboot of it."

FWIW I absolutely LOVE the 2003 series and I think it blows away the original series in just about every way, and I'm in my mid 60's and watched the original series when it first aired. The original started out pretty great but gradually then rapidly went down hill I'm assuming to budget restrictions (constantly reusing the same special effects shots over and over) and weak writing that didn't compensate. I remember back in the day completely loosing interest on an episode where in the first scene a reused shot of a Cylon ship crashing into the Battlestar traps some people in storage room and there was a fire on the other side, and the entire rest of the show was them there the room waiting to be rescued etc. 🤦‍♂I wanted to watch an interesting sci-fi show that intrigued/surprised me and sparked my imagination, not a pedestrian low budget disaster show about every day situations that could happen in any era. 🤷‍♂ The high budget, well written, and well acted 2003 series did that for me! 👌🥰👍

An animated version could be the answer to the call for fans and not a total reboot in general, but a final session of the original set alongside the last journey to Earth in the year 2039, or the 26 century. Not connected to that other series in the 80s, so much, but there's a villain from that turns with a connection to Starbuck. Additionally, there's an intriguing plot with two Starbuks. The old episode where a commander is supposed to be Starbucks' father we never real knows if he died in this story, and so an alternative timeline story could become an option. Starbucks could be intriguingly possible series, a stand-alone series telling the true fate of Starbucks' final years or something completely different in his adventures through the universe towards his destiny and possibly finding his way to a shining Earthly destination. Or revealing both modern and old are part of something of Starbucks legacies from a different perspective, revealing he was a Cylon humanoid?
Starbucks Shadows, the myth of the pilot of the fleet, the original series had him as a joking and friendly wise guy, but his character was a deep hearted hero, someone trusted and someone reliable. But his life story and past had so many secrets. It would be to develop a backstory in his early childhood story, still hiding a few things, but a huge secret of who he really was related to. And he has a twin sister who vanished when they were young. She turns up in an alternative reality? Only a theory..

The thing I can't get by, in regard to the re-imagined series, that weakened the overall story SO much, was that suddenly the Cylons were created by man. That was some pretty unimaginative reimagining -- that old, warn out concept of 'building robots that take us over'. It was present at least as far back as 1950's sci-fi radio. What makes the original Galactica impactful is that Cylons are emotionless, robot-building, reptilian aliens that can take what we have and send us scrambling like mice. You might say that 'that concept' has ALSO been around forever and you would be right. But 'WE' as our own enemy is just not nearly as scary as a more advanced, emotionless alien species, bent on wiping us out like they are exterminating roaches.

Costume design was off the rack from K-Mart and the cylons being created by humans and looking just like humans just came off as lazy! Instead of humanity bonding together to escape an external threat to their existence it became humanity's distrust of each other and being destroyed from within. Maybe if it didn't use the name of Battlestar Galactica and created their own thing (since it only bears a passing resemblance to Battlestar Galactica) then maybe i wouldn't have hated it so much.
