My Granny played the piano by ear she never had a lesson in her life. She played this song for us all the time. I had no idea what the name of it was. She left us for heaven in June 2013 95 years young. She lived at home up until 3 months before her death. I came home from work and my wife had our TV on the instrumentals channel and this song was being played on a piano I broke down but managed to see the title through the tears. I didn't know it even had words until I came upon this post. Thank you so much for posting this song.

Look for the Paul Whiteman version on TH-cam. Was also used as the basis for "Groovin' High".

I sand Barbershop in much the same way. I could attach a tone to a note, but I couldn't read as fluently as it'd take to get a Musicians' Union Card. Sort of like Bix Biederbecke.

There were so many wonderful harmony groups through the "Fourties Fifties and Sixties" Why their popularity waned is possibly due to the disappearance of the "Big Bands" and the style of music changed in favour of the Hard Rock Bands. Thank you for posting.

They had a harmony that was unmatched I remember thinking CSN was good but the Pied Pipers were unrivaled !

    そうですね。彼らがドーシー楽団から独立後に放った大ヒットであるDream。あのスタイルはスロー曲の聴かせどころをしっかり押さえている名唱でした。あのスタイルが彼らのショウケースとなったのだと思います。

Folks, As Sinatra once said : " You can wait around & hope, but you'll not see or hear the likes of this, ever again. " -------------I was blessed to grow up to this music , as both Dad & Mom loved music & it was always on the radio------or any TV show that features music. -----------June Hutton-----------I'm guessing, another Hutton sister ??--------------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o

Arranged by Axel Stordahl! He arranged most of Sinatra's earliest recordings! The Norwegian Prince of Lush Vocal Arrangements!

Interesting to compare this Pipers-only "Whispering" to the Sinatra-Pipers version with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Jo Stafford is, of course, the Pipers lead singer on the Dorsey record, which is a bit jauntier than this very fine treatment featuring June Hutton's lead voice. June was, in my opinion, the only lead singer who could have suitably replaced Jo in that great vocal quartet. Superb record!

+Ian Bailey Yes Ian, but unfortunately, changed for the worse and of course that's my opinion, but never today's "ballads" will equal those from the past and "rap" is the most disgusting noise I ever heard.

+Common211 But God gave us Senses and I think that you can tell one thing from another, anyway in taste nothing is conclusive, what you like, I don't and what I like, you don't. But today's music I don't like specially Rap for me is noise with a beat.

+richard4677 Yeah i definitely get what you mean man. I just like the wordplay in the poetry which i guess isnt really "soothing" to the ears (not talking about the majority of rap on the radio) What do you think of heavy metal?
