What a car! Perfect example of the unique Italian styling of the time. Steph, the car matches your amazing styling, too.

Cracking little car, and that 1600 Fiat 124 engine is brilliant, I used to sell them.

I swear, in terms of convenience features, almost all these were introduced in cars in the 1950s and 1960s, if not earlier. Case in point: the swivel seats that were on some Chryslers here in the US in the late 1950s, some Thunderbirds during the 1960s, and some Chevrolets in the 1970s. Why that useful tangible equipment isn't available when all sorts of the latest planned obsolecent "infotainment" is....I just don't know. The serious motorists out there know what I am talking about! I love the chrome and leather in the interior styling. Brilliant.

Nice, I had a 1964 Fiat 1500 Cabriolet and it was a fun car to drive. Italian racing red and a Pinafarina body.

Interesting so many comments from Australians. I do remember Fiats were popular cars there in the 1960s and 70s. The first series of 124 Sports coupes was such a lovely looking car. One of my teachers at school had one. My dad had a 1500 Mk3 as his car. It was the first car I ever drove properly (when still not legal). It was so much better engineered and comfortble than the Valiant and later Ford Fairmont my mum drove. I loved that car and still have a soft spot for Fiats. Have to add, your reviews just get better and better.

Hi Steph - great video as always. You mention the swivel seats. These were only a feature on the 1957-59 1200 TV (Trasformabile) that you mentioned. The 1200 Spider from 1959 onwards had non-swivelling seats on adjustable runners.

This is a gorgeous looking car, never seen one of these before. Such a well researched, put together and presented review as always. I’ve said it before, you really should have your own show on mainstream tv. You’re a natural. As usual loving your unique style and dress sense. Matches the car so well. Hope you have a great week.

Great review Steph and such a pretty car .The Fiat twin cam was a amazing engine .I served my apprenticeship (Body Shop) at the Fiat main dealers 50 years ago and worked on one of these .
My favourites was the very pretty 850 Coupe ,124 Sports Coupe and the amazing 130 Coupe .
I had a Fiat 124 Special T with the twin cam motor with rare factory double downdraft Webber carbs and it was fast .Fiat advertised them as a wolf in sheep's clothing as they looked no different to a normal 124 except for a badge and wider steel wheels .

My first car was a 1954 Fiat 1100D, followed by a 55 Fiat 1100H. They were great little cars, and kept up realy well in traffic, 100kph cruising speed, comfortable.
Bonkers steering and lack of parts availability in oz, scared me off evenually...
    Vw 1303L driver now...

That is one rare car; certainly I've never seen one. That twin-cam engine was really something back in the day, used in so many conversions from a Morris Minor to a Lada Niva!! I believe the 2 litre was fitted to a few Morgan sports cars in the 1980s. A lovely motor car. Ian from Hub nut would love those wipers!! Great video as always.

Perhaps one should say, the Datsun Fairlady reminded one of the Fiat 1200? Yes, they were pretty cars too and popular in Australia at the time (especially as Australia didn't get this car (foreign echange controls).

Hiya Steph. Another great classic road test done in the usual standard format. I've gotta road test for one of those cars, it dates from November 18, 1960, and comes from the archives of the Autocar magazine of which I collect back issues. This is one of 12 that I have had since 1995, they cost me a fiver for the lot. The reg number on the Fiat that was test driven for the Autocar mag that week was 7971 HX. Great stuff Steph, and keeeeeeeeeeeeeep driving!.

@The Mechanic i grew up in the 80s. It was a sea of mk2 cavaliers Ford escorts and orions. A few rovers that were considered quite posh at the time lol. These are the cars a love now probably due to nostalgia but I still appreciate the cars from before then. Ones like the one in the video.

Now I know that I am getting old but, I had forgotten about having a misted or iced up windscreen - for the whole journey. Ahh the terror of a Beetle on the Newly opened M25 in a midsummer cloudburst, stuck between lorries with the engine trying to blow steam into the cab... I loved my 1972 beetle but my 1998 A6 clears its screens in the first 2 minutes....

I love these little Fiat sports cars of the era Steph, funnily enough today I've just watched a Wheeler Dealers episode featuring a 1971 124 spider . The one your driving is a real survivor. You looked like you were driving not far from me , although foggy it looked like Ilkley moor through Burley top road to Menston , am I correct?
