Side note, the kind of bombing method Terry speaks about works, the italians just did not have dive bombers, ask the japanese... most of the early Japanese sucesses were done withe high altitude bombers not dive bombers. Bombers such as the Nell, the Peggy and the Betty were all attack bombers not dive bombers.
Naval aviation is one field high on my list to do more research on. It's not as clean cut as it looks on the surface, there are some interesting experiments - the IJN dropping converted Nagato main battery shells from torpedo bombers, the Germans building guided bombs, ...
The Trento is an awesome ship. She’s speedy, dangerous, and totally fun. She reminds me of the Duca D’Aosta. She’s like that ship but a heavier cruiser version
Good games Terry. I need to get back into Italian cruisers. I'm at Amalfi. Tier 8. And I have Luigi Sansonetti on him too. I just love raining HE down and I need to get used to not doing that lol
The sixth sense skill is so essential for these - you'll basically know when you have to start dodging at all times. Think of them like RN CLs - no HE, and honestly, the SAP is mostly good enough against anything. You can annoy the absolute crap out of BBs by just keeping the range, and getting them to waste their salvos, while dropping torps in their way. And once they give up, turn around and chase them again. BBs also tend to forget that you can rush them - a double torp set, with the aid of the great angles and fuel smoke for the final turn, all the while dunking SAP into the bow, can take down a half-health BB. Some really fun moves you can make in this thing, since it's mid tier.
I am on the Trento myself as well, though its not fully upgraded because of a lack of blueprints. Anyhow, great video Terry, and I remember playing alongside you in two battles, a center control and domination. Those were great games.
Great ship! Her successor Zara is quite good as well! The Italian CA’s seem to get a bad rap but I’ve had a pretty good experience with them. Also I’m trying to decide if I want to go to amalfi or not.
The Almalfi is a great DD killer and can hold its own with other cruisers just be careful with BBs but thats every cruiser.. Much better than the Zara in my opinion
I think the RM CAs need a skilled cruiser player to make the most of their mobility, while being able to compensate for their armour and reload. Definitely liking them, although the legendary captain does help.
@@calebb6161 Yeah I stopped at Zara originally since she’s the last in the line that actually existed. Even though Amalfi was a paper design I still would like to try her out. Plus it’s the only line here I haven’t gotten to tier 8 yet.
🤔 This is one of 5 cruiser lines I was choosing from, to take all the way to tier 9 & 10. Unfortunately, I followed the lead of "Blitz", and I'd chosen NOT to exceed tier 8. Therefore, I'd swapped a LOT of gold blueprints for purple ones. I'd also underestimated the amount of BP's required to fully upgrade a tier 10 ship(roughly 105 of each type). As a result it took months to get enough gold BPs to fully upgrade my 1st tier 10 ship(Republique)! So when it came time to pick a 2nd line to grind to tier 9+, I decided to be VERY picky(for the 1st time ever)! I chose cruisers for my 2nd tier 9-10 ships, but I wasn't happy with the semi-poor long range accuracy of Zara, and its poor maneuverability. Maybe the Amalfi(and beyond) are better, but, who knows... 😉👍 Instead, I repurchased my previously rage-sold Chapayev, figured it out, grinded 180k XP, and bought the Dmitry Donskoi, which so far is glorious if played semi-correctly! I even dumped 5000 gold on permanent camo for Donskoi. Its the best looking ship with permanent camo IMO.
Everyone's got their opinions, but for me, the Hindenburg is probably the preferred T10 cruiser so far. Venezia was quite good as well, once I realised how to use the turret layout. High tier ships take a lot of blueprints, sometimes it can even be worth freeXPing over T9 if you know what you're getting.
@@FunandGameswithTerry I've actually had the Admiral Hipper for quite a long time, but I've kept it on the back burner as I chose which tier 7-8 ships to spend BPs on. So aside from a bunch of AI games, I've played only 1-2 real games with it. But eventually I WILL get around to it, I promise!! Are the Roon and Hindenburg good, as far as long range accuracy, ability to KILL destroyers, and ability to actually penetrate high tier battleships with AP, etc?
Love my Trento, great DD killer if you know how to play her as most Italian cruiser are. Been paying the Russian cruiser line and really like the Dmitri Donskoi and Chapayev. Would love to see a video on the Dmitri Donskoi
I have Chapayev, but she's not upgraded yet (out of blueprints again). I think Nevsky got buffed, so might be worth trying again. Lots of people seem to love the Donskoi.
I really like her, she is fast and really punches DD I had some good games with her, I hope that the Zara can do the same Btw have you seen the Warhammer collab ? Personally I m not to interested in the ships but apparently they have some special abilities, will you rewiew them ? Oh and for the stripes on the bows ships, I believe it’s called the “barbershop” x)
Only ship to be still very much viable after 2 nerfs 😋 T6 cruiser i play only blk leander, makarov, huanghe but trento is good, yes t6 reload mod on cruiser you rather get citadel hit in then turret module 😂 Got me the premium commander for my blk amalfi.. until i heared the apcs is better dmg buff .. havent seen any stats about that difference in shells.. varry a lot by target i guess
Nürnberg (free Makarov) and De Grasse for me :) For the 203mm, I often find the AP and SAP pretty similar, except DDs, obviously. But I'll have to run some dedicated tests on that. For now, the sixth sense is a huge bonus.
So many wrong things you said "Trento dindt really had armor" what? "70mm, not much" What? The Trento class was the most armored early washington treaty cruiser class, no class was close to the armor Trento had, the County and class low armor, Desquene and Suffren class had low armor, Furutaka and Aoba class had low armor, Pensacola had low armor, Trento was the only early washington treaty cruiser class to have an armored deck, have both good protected turrets and belt while retaining the good speed. Even by ww2 she still had good armor when compared to other CA's. The stripes on the bows and sterns werent just for italian planes but for any allied planes, though germans planes attacked italian ships dozens of times even after these stripes were added, an italian torpedoboat, Sagittario, was bombed 3 times by a german plane that was her escort for a convoy.

Thank! I really needed this. I struggle so hard with this ship
The double steering is a must imo if you want to be aggressive in any way.

She is my go-to cruiser! Fast and lethal

Thanks
I think the best thing about the Trento is being able to seal club HARD off nubby broadsiding dd's. I once even got a kraken in it :))
She's up there with the Nürnberg in terms of DD blapping power
I still own her. I had trouble when my sister played West Virginia and we were on opposite teams.

I wasn't a huge fan of the 150mm SAP, but almost 1k alpha on the 203s, with enough power to citadel cruisers, and no overpen, that's more like it.
