  • It's that time of the year to fill the woodshed with the wood we'll be burning this Fall. Using the attached conveyor on the Eastonmade 37D, filling the woodshed has never been this easy.

    hi there real good ides , now knowing i am the lazyest wood hound on y/t . if there was room to do it . i may have tried to fill the tractor bucket and dump it slowly onto the convayor , , 2 reasons only have to pick it up once , and the bucket could get closer to the loading area , well done,, you are always thinking of ways of making firewood easier . good show john

  • @larrylefebvre2237
    @larrylefebvre2237 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Good idea to try different methods to make things easier. In stead of handling the wood twice, perhaps you could have simply used the tractor bucket and dump the rounds directly into the conveyer. Just a thought.

    Fridays livestream I mentioned splitting into a trailer. You said you don’t have a trailer. Sundays video you have a trailer. Use that trailer to split into the pull it to the piles to stack. Stack the big stuff first will be the majority of the load then small split’s somewhere else in there stacks. Then the chaff is all in the trailer no cleanup. Peace

    We process using a Hakki Pilke processor & convey logs into metal stacking crates. Season in those & then load straight to bags for burning - so we handle onto the processor & then bag for taking in the house to burn. Age is a great source of levelling & minimising effort!

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that would have caused some jams when all the wood got taken up the conveyor...there was a few times I put a few pieces in right after Amanda and the one time the pieces caught the wings of the conveyor where it attaches together.

    Watching this procedure, I thought you could have tweaked the stacking process by having one person load the conveyor with wood, and one person organizing and stacking it against the wall for maximum volume at the other. Now you'll have to move the pieces around to utilize the space more efficiently and load the place up for next winter. Just sayin'.

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just stacked a little on the one outside edge...the rest will stay in a loose pile like it landed. This stuff won't get stacked like the other side of the shed.

  • @gtt5691
    @gtt5691 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is that really easier though? Instead of touching the wood twice; once loading the trailer and then once bombing it into the shed… you’ve now touched it once to load, spent the time and effort setting the conveyor up, then touched it twice to load it onto the conveyor then touched it a third time to smooth out the pile the conveyor dumped it into. It’s a smart use of a new toy absolutely, but making it easier? I wouldn’t think so.

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We can't back the trailer into the shed, it doesn't fit....so hand bombing those pieces that distance and then up on top of the pile isn't as easy as it might seem...lol...after a few mins the pieces get heavier and heavier...haha, trust me we've done it the way you described every year up til now....this was the easiest way yet. Throwing wood 'down' from a pile into a trailer, and then setting it 'down' onto a conveyor is much different from having to throw pieces 'up' onto a pile.
