I did my matriculation from a Christian school and being a Christian I studied about Christianity in my religion class. But in college I had to study Islamiyat and that teacher used to disrespect my religion in front of me knowing that there are couple of Christian students present. Later on I always bunked that class.

Lucky to be in India. My son is in 3rd standard (8yrs). He doesn't have to remember anything related to religion. Except may be one chapter which teaches all the religions which exists in india but even that chapter focuses on festivals rather than method of worships. I was reading his book where it was mentioned "Sikhs are those who want to learn (jo sikhna chahate hai, wo sikh hai) 😄
Once he inocently asked me.. pappa, who are muslims. I gave him very superficial answer. Then he asked.. why can't we celebrate Eid? I said.. who said we can't celebrate Eid. And on that eid we made some sweets and said Eid mubarak. He was so happy 😄
He never asked why we don't celebrate Christmas bcz in india many Hindus celebrate Christmas including my family. I mean we don't go to church and all, but we gift children saying santa Claus has given it to you (he knows it's pappa who gives gift , but as long as he is getting gift he prefers to play along) and he decorates (plastic) Christmas tree. His school always makes Christmas related art and craft around year end.
We celebrate Hindu festivals , but we never indoctrinate him about anything too religious. Just do some Pooja and eat his favourite "Prasad" , and that it.
He doesn't know even one Pooja/bhajan/ aarti. He doesn't know even one shlok from Geeta , nor it is taught in school nor any parents says here that it should be compulsory in schools. Instead all this energy and time is diverted to science and arts. Even government school in india are no different.
Lucky that i grew up in India and even my son is growing up here with secular values and away from religion.
That's really sad! Bhagavad Geeta must be taught from the very beginning. It is not indoctrination. It is food for the soul. Children's spiritual needs must also be met.

So disappointed in Imran Khan and Shafqat Mehmood's hypocrisy. Both have been educated in elite schools like Aitchison and Sadiq Public School, with families and their children living in western countries and enjoying the benefits of western education. Bhutto tried to nationalize private schools but worse PTI has capitulated to the Madrassahs.
Sindh Government has definitely done the right thing. And what's most amusing is if Sindh has rejected the curriculum, how will they ensure every child of Pakistan gets an equal education?
Sindh has done what they are previously doing “increasing the rate of illiteracy” the whole Pakistan will be ahead in another 10 years where as whole sindh will become moen jo daro. This man is so biased he didn’t talk about the entrepreneurship subject which is included. Didn’t talk about the objective based curriculum at all.

my heart goes out when my cousin(who is in 8th grade) tells me that her teacher beats her and all other class-fellows with sticks daily because she could not memorize 2 pages of Parah along with trjuma and Tafseer assigned to whole class on daily basis. In SNC, 8th grade syllabus includes 4 Parahs of Holy Quran to memorize with meaning of each word, translation of whole verse and also Tafseer! SNC is going to be very devastating. It will only make students abhorrent of Islam.

In some western countries (and possibly elsewhere), religious studies is optional and one does not have to partake in it. That is a better solution.
Absolutely, we live in the UK. They have mandatory and optional subjects such as religion, music and languages and others. No one forces their ideology or opinion on anyone. I guess that's why West is civilized as they behave as humans.

Coding is a different subject and literature have another place. English and urdu are the subjects which can contain topic about our culture, religion and other demographic aspects..... You can code and also write a urdu ghazal or anything🤔 coding is not being replaced 😏

@@gogawork4030 we are already studying islamic chapters in english and urdu books. Literature contains relegion, cultural and other demographic aspects.... I studied oxford english syllabus in my school (fauji foundation) and it includes some stories that includes a discussion about church and study about some personalties which were non_muslim. Whats so bad in Islamic personalties and history???????

We have 8 million students in Madaris. Once they finish they have no jobs and what will they do if they have no job opportunity? How shall we include them in our system? The only way is SNC. There will be a level playing field for everyone and the whole nation will develop together.

I studied in a convent from 1965_ 1976 and did Senior Cambridge from there. I still remember doing social studies as Muashrati Uloom also geography in Urdu in primary classes. Our domestic helpers child was also studying same textbook as myself. The nuns did not have any problem with that، why these upscale schools of today. I feel blessed to be bilingual. Can read and write both languages very well.

I am teaching because I wanted to experience it and one of the teacher was proudly telling me that the minorities are being taught islamiyat and one of them is very eloquent in qiraat. Mashart e Aloom has massive chapters that do not provoke critical thinking if by chance I'll advocate it I will be criticized for burdening the teachers with unnecessary work.
Same here! While teaching I had to tell the children to not bash, hate their classmates who have a different religion, faith.
Regarding snc I seriously hated it! They're crushing the intellectual ability of children and imposing the ratta system because of the huge unnecessary info dumps in the books.

I am Studying HRM ( Human Resource Management). in this Subject (HRM) we Actually Studied that "an Organization's Success will always depend on their Human Resource, if the Employees that you are hiring is Right Person for the then your Organization can Grow Efficiently but also Noting that the Employee that you are selecting should have " Skillfulness, Deliverability, Innovatively, Resultant etc. " in his work ". So According to that Theory we didn't Select the right person for the right job and now that is why we are facing such Issues right now in Pakistan.

میں ( میکالے ) نے ہندوستان کے طول و عرض میں سفر کیا ہے ، مجھے کوئی بھی شخص بھکاری یا چور نظر نہیں آیا ۔ اس ملک میں ، میں نے بہت دولت دیکھی ہے ، لوگوں کی اخلاقی اقدار بلند ہیں اور سمجھ بوجھ اتنی اچھی ہے کہ میرے خیال میں ہم اس وقت تک اس ملک کو فتح نہیں کر سکتے جب تک کہ ہم ان کی دینی اور ثقافتی اقدار کو توڑ نہ دیں جو ان کی ریڑھ کی ہڈی کی حیثیت رکھتی ہے ۔
اس لیے میں تجویز کرتا ہوں :
ہم ان کا قدیم نظام تعلیم اور تہذیب تبدیل کریں ۔ کیونکہ اگر ہندوستانی لوگ یہ سمجھیں کہ ہر انگریزی اور غیر ملکی شے ان کی اپنی اشیا سے بہتر ہے تو وہ اپنا قومی وقار اور تہذیب کھودیں گےاور ویسی ہی مغلوب قوم بن جائیں گے جیسی ہم بناناچاہتے ہیں ۔
اس اقتباس سے یہ بات واضح ہو جاتی ہے کہ جب کسی بھی قوم کو اس کی تاریخ سے کاٹ دیا جائے تو وہ ذہنی طور پر غلام ہو جاتی ہے ۔
" ہندوستانی نظام تعلیم "
انگریز کی آمد سے قبل برعظیم ہند کا تعلیمی نظام ، جامع اور یکساں تھا ، جہاں بیک وقت حکمران طبقے اور عوام کے بچے تعلیم حاصل کرتے تھے، کوئی تفریق نہ تھی ۔ جتنے بھی تعلیم یافتہ افراد تھے سب کے سب ایک سکول آف تھاٹ کے زیر اثر تعلیم حاصل کرتے تھے ، بعد از تعلیم سوسائٹی کی مجموعی ترقی میں اپنا کردار ادا کرتے تھے ۔
" غلط تصور کی اصلاح "
پاکستانی معاشرے میں یہ غلط تصور دیا گیا ہے کہ مسلمانوں کے پاس کوئی علم نہیں تھا ، وہ تو تاج محل کی تعمیر میں مصروف تھے !
آپ بتائیے کسی چیز کو بنانے کے لیے کیا کوئی علم درکار نہیں ہوتا ؟ جو تعمیرات مسلمانوں نے کئی سو سال پہلے کیں ، کیا آج ان کی پائیداری کا کوئی موازنہ ہے؟ آج تو آرکیٹیکچراورانجینئرنگ کی ڈگریاں بھی دی جارہی ہیں مگر کام کا معیار وہ نہیں ہے جو اس وقت مسلمانوں نے کیا ۔
انگریز جب اس خطے میں آیا تو اس نے بنیادی کام اپنے مفاد میں یہ کیا کہ اس خطے کی زبان تبدیل کردی جس میں تعلیم دی جاتی ، جس کی وجہ سے نوجوان اپنی تاریخ سے کٹ گئے ۔
" تعلیمی زبان کا اصول "
کوئی بھی قوم دنیا کے علوم میں دسترس اپنی زبان میں حاصل کرتی ہے لیکن جب آپ اس بنیادی اصول ہی کو بدل دیں تو یہ کیسے ممکن ہو سکتا ہے کہ کوئی علم میں دسترس حاصل کرے ۔
کسی بھی قوم کے اخلاق و کردار کی تربیت اس کے نظام تعلیم سے کی جاتی ہے لیکن اگر وہ خراب ، فرسودہ اور طبقاتیت پر ہو تو سوسائٹی مجموعی طور پر کبھی بھی ترقی نہیں کر سکتی ۔
یہی وجہ ہے کہ آج انفرادی طور پر لوگوں کو اخلاقیات کے درس دیے جاتے ہیں جن کا کوئی نتیجہ نہیں نکلتا ، کیونکہ آپ بیماری کی اصل وجہ کو ٹھیک نہیں کر سکتے ۔ آج دنیا کے اندر جتنی بھی آزاد قومیں ہیں ان سب کا نظام تعلیم ان کی اپنی قومی زبان میں ہے کیونکہ تعلیم سے تربیت مقصود ہے جو تبھی ممکن ہے جب آپ کا سامع آپ کی بات کو سمجھے جس کے لیے ضروری ہے کہ آپ کی اور اس کی بات چیت کی زبان ایک ہو ۔ آج کہنے کو تو ہم آزاد ہیں لیکن ہمارا تعلیمی نظام وہی غلامی کے دور اور لارڈ میکالے کا ہے ، جس کا مقصد غلام پیدا کرنا تھا ۔
ہونا تو یہ چاہیے تھا کہ آزادی حاصل کرنے کے بعد ہم اپنا نظام تعلیم بدلتے لیکن ہم نے ایسا نہیں کیا اور اس کا نتیجہ یہ نکلا کہ آج ہمارا نوجوان مغرب کی تعلیم سے مرعوب نظر آتا ہے ۔ انفرادی ترقی اس کا مطمح نظر ہے اور اس وجہ سے اس کی تمام صلاحیتیں سامراج کے لیے استعمال ہو رہی ہیں ۔
آج ہمارے ہاں تعلیم کا مقصد اعلیٰ نوکری کا حصول ، مغرب کی شہریت ہے اور انفرادی ترقی ہے ۔ آج تعلیم عمدہ اخلاق کےبجائے مرعوبیت اور طبقاتیت پیدا کر رہی ہے ۔
بلکہ نظام تعلیم ہی گروہی ہے جس کا نتیجہ یہ ہے کہ آج غریب کے بچے کے لیے الگ سکول ، امیر کے لیے الگ ، اسلام کے لیے الگ اور دنیا کی تعلیم کے لیے الگ ہے ۔
" گروہی نظام تعلیم کا نقصان "
یہی وجہ ہے کہ مسجد کا پڑھا ہوا سکول کے پڑھے کو قبول نہیں کرتا اور سکول کا پڑھا مسجد کے پڑھے کو قبول نہیں کرتا ۔
" آج کی ضرورت "
آج ضرورت اس بات کی ہے کہ ایسا نظام تعلیم وضع کیا جائے جس کا نظریہ یعنی میڈیم آف انسٹریکشن( medium of instruction ) وہ ہو جس سے اکثریت واقف ہو اور اس میں طبقاتیت کا تصور موجود نہ ہو ۔
اگر نظام تعلیم کو ان بنیادوں پر مرتب کیا جائے تو پھر اس تعلیمی نظام سے نکلنے والے افراد کی سوچ اجتماعی ترقی کی ہو گی ، ان کے اخلاق اعلیٰ ہوں گے ۔
ہماری غلبے کی تاریخ اس پر گواہ ہے کہ جب ہمارا نظام تعلیم دنیا پر رائج تھا تو اس نے تمام لوگوں کو ایک ہی تعلیم دی اور اعلیٰ نظریے پر ان کی تربیت کی ۔
