  • A fun yet informative video that shows the development of a chick inside the egg using the candling method. Watch the chicks hatch! This is not a technical video. It's just simple entertainment that may be of some educational value. Enjoy!

This is amazing! I love the reality of not every egg hatching- that really helps with the expectations people put on themselves when it comes to successful chicks vs eggs.

I felt like I was watching an actual PBS show, your commentary is educational and the background music is perfect. After watching I felt the urge to reconnect with Mother Nature!
Looking forward to your next installment,

This is great! It feels like PBS, but better, because there are chicken chicks at the end. Also, you have totally sold me on silkies :)

What incubator do you use and what humidity level did you set it to to hatch on day 18? :)

I use an old Styrofoam Little Giant incubator. I turn the eggs by hand. I keep the gutters filled with water throughout incubation. The only thing I change at the end, is I keep the lid closed as much as possible to maintain the humidity high and don't turn the eggs past day 18.
