Saving a Dog on Death Row | The Story of Diesel

- Dee from the shelter contacted us a couple of days ago in regards to a dog that had been brought in by rangers after being dumped in a country paddock.
His name is Diesel. He’s 5 years old.
With a recorded attack incident on his file, Dee asked if we could do anything to help save Diesel from being euthanised.
You see there’s no room anywhere because there are dogs being abandoned all over the place. And a dog like Diesel with something on his file puts him on the list for being euthanised.
Dee got in a government assessor straight away. Feedback was that he is a beautiful dog but aggressive towards male dogs.
Dee knew he was worth saving. So she called us to come up to the shelter and work with Diesel to see if his behaviour could be turned around, and ultimately saved from being put to sleep.
Luke brought a few of our dogs, all male and Joey. Joey brings the energy.
We were there for four hours. Diesel underwent boot camp training before being introduced to our dogs at the shelter.
By the end of the day, Diesel was off leash with Tank, Chopper, Rosco, Barney and Joey playing ball.
We’ve taken Diesel home to the farm. There’s no place for him at the shelter or at RSPCA or anywhere else. Everywhere is full.
Today he’s having a great time living the farm life … that’s another video.
Shelters really need help more than ever. Above all else they need people to foster and to adopt. Dee could not do anymore for animal welfare. She works so very close to 24/7 and always feels she isn’t doing enough. She runs the most clean, lovely looking shelter where all the animals are above and beyond cared for. But there’s not enough Dee’s in our world and there’s just too many people who are simply giving up on animals.
Shelters and rescues everywhere really need our support.
Diesel is a lucky boy. It wasn’t his time. He’s still got a lot to learn but he’s going to have 20 mates now along with this new guy in his life they call Uncle Luke, to help him get there. Many of the pack have travelled a similar road to Diesel.

Barney and Chopper are wearing onesies. Barney has a leaky bottom and Chopper has a small wound that we don’t want coming into contact with anything that could cause infection.
All the dogs were excited because they've heard about the bearded man in the red shirt. If you're lucky, he'll take you to his farm.

It breaks my heart to see these dogs in small cages waiting for someone to rescue them. I would rather see the humans who abandoned them in those cages!
I love how they all gravitate towards Rosco for reassurance and protection, it's so heartwarming to see considering that Rosco was once such an aggressive dog. Goodest boy indeed 🥰😍

Here we are months later, with DIESEL now in his own furrever home after spending lots of time at The Farm being trained, loved and sheltered by Uncle Luke and Auntie Sam, until his FURREVER FAMILY showed up! You were SO RIGHT DEE! HE WAS WORTH IT! 🙏 GOD BLESS YOU ALL who helped DIESEL get there! 🙏 🐾 🏡

I think good trainers are good leaders and dogs look for a good leader (except maybe Freddo 😂). Dogs can tell if you are not being a good leader I think, and react accordingly.
What I mean was Freddo has worked out he can ask Mum if dad says No 😂
I'm convinced Roscoe said some curse words at the kennel fence 🤭🤭🤭. Can't convince me otherwise.
What Luke and Sam do for the doggies is beyond amazing. And so is Dee. Dee is in an incredibly tough position because she needs to follow the rules, yet sees their potential. This is really a blessed partnership. It’s fully understandable why dogs are labeled ‘aggressive’ because your average owner is not trained to handle rehabilitation and just wants a pet w/an easy transition into his/her family and for everyone’s safety, a prior incident needs to be disclosed and accessed. But then comes Uncle Luke and Aunty Sam with their capes of love, support and inspiration in their magical bus for these special doggies to say, “We got your back”. #FarmLove #FarmPack ❤

I am retired and on a fixed income. Still, I have a budget that includes what here in the United States, is sometimes called the 'constant companion' program. Shelters survive on small donations and for the cost of a few items in your grocery cart each week can equal a monthly donation. With this planning I am able to make small recurrent monthly donation to three shelters. There are two vets in the general area that will spay and neuter for a very nominal fee to cover supplies. I cannot speak for Australia, however, in the US these donations are tax deductible. Looking at the Farm it is hard to not want to reach out and help every creature we can through the folks at shelters--frankly, I don't know how they do the work, I would be in floods of tears.
Rosco really gave Dee a piece of his mind for him being back in the cage. Cheeky boy. The boys were on best behavior. They wanted out. Even sat on mom's feet. So if mom goes they go. Lol. Love the Beagle puppies.

Oh the Shelter visit of all the dogs there just breaks my heart. They all seemed to be saying “Pick me, please pick me!” 😢

It was hard holding my breath through all of those introductions with Diesel.....anybody else? (Despite having every confidence in Luke's ability to control the situation).

Absolutely fascinating. It never gets old watching Luke at work with these dogs. Love how Sam is the safe place. So heartbreaking to see Roscoe and Tank/Chopper reaction to being in the cage.
Yes it was sad - we knew what they were thinking - “we know this place and we hated it - what did we do wrong that the Luke and Sam brought us back “ . It brought tears to my eyes as well.

@@mortalclown3812 Yes, they did explain how they sort of met in one of their videos, but I can't recall which one. But if I come across it I will let you know. But it was definitely to do with re-training the shelterdogs, etc, because Luke admitted that he struggled so much with transitioning into civilian life, after leaving the military. It's very moving to hear about it, hence his affinity for dogs, especially troubled canines.

Dee is a god-send. How she copes with it all ? Kittens, puzzles, laughter. I admire her so much.

Roscoe sitting on Sam’s feet is my favorite part of this video, I’ve loved that guy since he arrived at The Farm. And I love the whole Evan’s clan too ❤❤❤
I held it all together until I saw Rosco sitting on Sam's feet and I'll probably need another box of tissues!
I was okay until I heard them barking and then saw the panic in Rosco’s eyes. I lost it then. If was like they knew they would never be left behind but they wanted to voice their opinions just in case. You could see the fear in the 3 boys. I didn’t even know Joey was there until she was brought in. Barnie Boy and Joey couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about. Stellar job and I smiled all the time they sat with Sam protecting her and making sure they had a ride home. Luke can see what others can’t and Dee is just an animal saint to save them all. There’s a home out there for all of them.
Where Mumma goes, I goes with her says Roscoe... I was a little worried for him, Tank and Chopper tho .. I knew they were going to go home to the farm but they did look a little concerned... remembering they'd been left before... I bet getting back on the bus to go home was the best ever for them ...🤗😋

Roscoe knows he can take down Diesel in 4 seconds flat, but he has been shown the error of those ways. He won't do anything to jeopardize the second chance he's been given. Dee's shelter is so attractive. Love the puzzle wall art.

Breaks my heart to see all those dogs in the shelter. If I was Jeff bezos or Elon musk there wouldn’t be a homeless dog, I’d build a thousand rescue farms for all the poor pups without a home

I don't understand how people can "dump" animals. I don't understand the cruelty. I don't think I want to understand. I wouldn't want any of that type of understanding in my mind and heart. I just am thankful there are people like Luke, Sam, and Dee to help those animals in need. I prefer their type of understanding.
In absolute awe watching Uncle Luke in action. The farm pack did an amazing job considering how worried they were being back in the shelter environment. Rosco, Tank & Chop Chop were the bestest boys protecting Aunty Sam.

I don't understand why the video has been viewed almost 7000 times but only has 1400 'likes'. Please viewers hit the like button, it helps the farm to get more money from You Tube, and watch the ads right through too if you can. Every cent helps to rehabilitate these dogs and save their lives.
@Jackie Harrington You Tube gets money from the people who advertise in these videos because TH-cam is bringing in potential customers.
TH-cam will share some of this revenue with the people who make the videos.
Consequently the videos that have more "likes", Subscribers", and "comments" will get more of this revenue. The more people who watch the videos, mean more potential income for the advertiser, and therefore more money to the TH-camr.
Obviously, the Farm needs money to care for all those animals .... & we all want to help them out because we love them & want to support them!!!!

Loved this video. Roscoe is so impressive. Not just to look at but in his behaviour. He acts like a king! The look of disdain on his face when the unknown interloper (Disel) approached him. Then he turns his face away saying, "go away I'm not playing your game." Then he sits on Sam's feet, his body language shouting "THERE IS NO WAY I'M GOING TO LET YOU LEAVE ME HERE!"🤣

I totally believe that the basic rules are the same for 2 or 4 legged. Be strong to discipline but always positive reinforcement after,like Luke does with the dogs. 💜🐶❤️

Dee has an amazing gift to do what she does. Seeing all the issues these animals face would be more than I could handle. May the shelter be blessed with the resources, and people to accomplish their goals.
I could never do it. I’d fall apart after the first day. She’s just a wonderful advocate for them all. I love hearing her stories about calling out owners that attempt to drop their dogs off as strays. She’s a no nonsense type of person.

I just had to come to this video again, poor Roscoe couldn't get close enough to Sam, he was probably so confused about why he was back at a shelter,I think it was a good idea that u didn't take Freddo to he would have been so upset,it was so nice of you to go there special and work with diesel and let him meet some of the pack before u brought him back with you on the farm,Dee understanding of dogs is so incredible I'm so glad she called you and Sam for help ,thank you for getting him off death row ,the dogs that end up going to Dee shelter are very lucky , even though they still end up in the shelter she goes over and beyond for the animals that she takes in , and it's so nice of her to take the dogs to the farm once a week to be able to run around and get noticed by your subscribers ,so they can find homes and when a dog is on death row she always calls u first before she just puts a dog down , she is so sweet,I think u and Sam and Dee make the best team ever keep up the great work I'm so proud of you and all the dogs who works so hard to change,I never seen anything like this before I wished we had people like you guys here in America it would definitely help save dogs lives

That bit of extra info on Freddo's past history; being heavily medicated and shipped around shelters - it is heartbreaking. I am so happy Freddo found his forever loving home at the Farm, because he just needed a bit of instruction and a solid place to be adored🙏💜

I can't believe Diesel had a strike against him because he "ran up to some one" that's so unfair. Or was that just an excuse for the owner to give up on him.

When I saw how Chopper, Tank and Rosco were cowering together at the shelter, my heart went out to them. They probably thought they were being returned. Joey was so good at breaking up the tense atmosphere with her play, and Barney was fine with going with the flow. Thank you heaps Luke and Sam for saving yet another life. Dee, Takis, Lee, Rocky, Ermioni at DAR, Eldad in LA, Mladenovac in Serbia and many vanlifers rescuing animals on the road....the list goes on. I was involved in cat rescue for 15yrs and wish that none of us was needed anymore.
Dee is so caring, recognising immediately when a dog needs a second chance. The Shelter is so well looked after and the dogs so loved. Dee, Sam and Luke work wonders together, and now darling Diesel has his chance, such a lucky boy. His journey begins, paradise and the Farm family beckons. I look forward to watching him grow. Diesel is one of the lucky Pups! He will go to The Farm and train and will realize what a great time he will have. It was sad to see the faces of Roscoe, Chopper and Tank when they were back at the shelter. Dogs remember and so happy they have their "Furever Family & Home.!" It breaks my heart that Dee has so many pups and kitties needing "Furever Homes," through no fault of their own!!! I pray that this video will encourage the adoptions from Dee's Shelter!!!💗💗💗💗💗💗💓

Taking Sam to the shelter is like taking a kid to the candy store. She wants to bring everyone home. I would be the same way too. Roscoe is going to protect his Mum and maybe she can also protect me in here. Chopper just wants to be anywhere but at the shelter poor baby. One of the dogs Dee had looked like it could be related to Tank and Chopper. How many dogs can Sam hold? Dee is an Australian treasure for her love of animals. She has a heart of gold and we need more Dee's at all shelters. My hubby and I can't handle caring for dogs anymore and giving them the exercise they need due to health issues but we do help with the feral cats and do TNR or trap, neuter and release here in Texas along with feeding the ferals in our neighborhood. We also have brought 3 of the ferals into our home and have them as our forever cats. So seeing the kittens Dee had was so hard because I wanted all of them. They are so cute. Did Luke check the bus to see if Sam snuck anyone else on the bus beside Diesel?
I was watching Jackson Galaxy and the recent reports of two women arrested for TNR in Texas. What a travesty!
The little gray feisty one was beautiful. The tri color one had the most amazing colors. I love kittens and how they look. I’ve never had a cat before, only dogs. I don’t know a single things about cats except they used our front yard for a TNR program once here in Las Vegas.
@@Alex-dz2et So true. I made sure I explained to my neighbors what I was doing to let them know that we were spaying and neutering so that the population would go down. That the ferals also help with mice and such. So we haven't had a problem where we live but you need to be aware of it. To bad they don't arrest the people abusing and dumping animals that actually cause alot of the feral population in the first place. People getting rid of cats or dogs because they grew up or grew old. Or they move and leave the pets behind. We need to celebrate when we see people doing great things for animals like Dee, Luke and Sam.
@@bekiebrn We have one cat who acts more like puppy then kitten. So we call him our puppykitty. He fetches and everything. We have 2 striped with black, brown and carmel coloring Jagger and Bacardi. Then last September we found a little gray kitten with white socks that we call Rogue or Baby Shark because she has a white belly too. I always say adopt 2 at time so they have someone to play with that always helps. Of course, Miss Kitty Rose had a houseful of doggos to play with. LOL

I couldn't go to the shelters, I'd cry having to leave without all of them. My God, Luke is just an amazing trainer!! Let's clone him😍😍😍😍😍. Those pups are adorable, I hope there will be heaps of wonderful adopters for all the doggies. All they want is to be loved. Unfortunately it's very difficult to hear the discussions. I think the canine opera is in full swing. People only want the easy pet, so unfortunately they get dumped. The Farm dogs will be retro thinking to the bad old days. Rosco's expression is "I'm not all that relaxed here" I'll sit on Mum's feet, she'll protect me". Why has Chopper got a coat on???? Poor Chopper's tail is so far under his back legs it's almost disappeared. When they got back on the bus, Oh boy will they be happy. Sam needs much bigger feet. Barney is unfazed!!! Watch out Dee🤯🤯🤯🤯. Joey is sooooo athletic. Was that Rosco playing a drum solo with his tail?????? Yep, it's his tail. Gee those doggie beds must be strong!! Sam, Rosco and Tank on the bed. I wish all shelters were as humane as Dees. Poor Freddo must've have been a walking addict, the withdrawal would have been excruciating. Thank God, he found you. Absolutely adored watching Roscoe protecting you Sam, sitting on your feet and seeing Chopper and Tank feeling secured that he had their back in case Diesel has any intention of harming them. Barney has become a terrific apprentice and his reward was back rubs, Joey had no fear, she just wanted to have fun. Dee and the shelter people had to be so impressed with the training that Luke had accomplished with the pack. They all did fantastic even though Roscoe, Tank and Chopper had a look of panic that they were going to remain there.
Thanks to Dee and the shelter techs for taking good care and wanting the best for those who have been abandoned and cruelly treated, that takes special people.
Diesel is blessed that Luke and Sam and the pack can help him find a forever home. Good thoughts coming your way with a new successful chapter.

Just shows how proper gentle training can work wonders in a very short space of time.. what a pity so many dog owners do not bother to understand that they the owners need as much training as their pets .
Firstly, Dee has a beautiful facility and a heart to match. The enormous selfless work by her and her staff is phenomenal. So glad she asked you to come assess Diesel to give him the chance he deserved. Thanks Luke, Sam, and the 4-legged Farm crew for helping Diesel get a seat on the bus back to the best place on earth. Well if there’s a bonus to having the flu and a wonky sleep schedule being up for this post is it! Now cue the tears, because it breaks my heart to see them all there. I know it’s part of shelter life but it must be so hard on the doggies to have so much noise all the time. Roscoe, Tanky, Barney, and Chop-Chop were NOT impressed with their temporary holding area. Such good boys to trust you weren’t leaving them. Dee has a gift for seeing those doggies that are just a bit misunderstood. Poor darling Freddo, thank goodness for people like you guys. I can’t imagine how Freddo would react if he went to visit, you’re absolutely right! Praying Diesel gets to the Farm and can decompress.
☺️ Dogs are a bit confused but so confident that everything will be ok because Luke would never let any harm come to them…and Rosco is making damn sure that nothing will harm his Sam👍

Time and patience, 2 things that make such a difference in a dog's life. We have become such an immediate society that we expect animals to respond the same way but life doesn't work that way. Luke you amaze me on how quick you can turn a dog around. Having a rescue from a really bad environment and trying to undo what was done to him took me years. We hired a trainer whose methods now to me were wrong. I have watched so many training videos trying to fix things. Once I started watching your channel and used your methods my dog changed so much. So glad that you are willing to share your gift and knowledge as if people are willing to put the time in they will succeed. Thank you.
