What I love about the 400m race is that it really shows you who the real killers are. We have a saying at my track and field club that I coach “you don’t chose the 400, the 400 chooses you!” Congrats to those men who made the podium!!
Not only was it fastest race in history it was with out a doubt the most exciting 400m race I've ever seen with Hall coming from so far behind to win the gold!
what a run for the men very proud of Muzala because my country does not invest AT ALL in athletes so he is really running on vibes and hope and he is only 21 he will definitely get a gold one day. Quincy did his big one though what a race!
Phenomenal race! Loved Hall’s performance. I wasn’t surprised (too much) with Norman’s time after watching him in the semi-finals. It looked like that he was putting it all there so I wasn’t expecting a podium finish. But 8th? Whew… feel for the guy.
Has to be up one of the greatest finishes in Track and field because I thought he was about to pull up at 300m but the dog came out in him Gamecocks Nation
You could see his expression during the final stretch. You knew he would not rest with anything but gold. When I was watching it live, I thought the gold was going to GB. Definitely looked over from there. Then Hall came out of nowhere and I was already off my seat yelling at the tv. Him and Hocker stealing gold were probably my favorite moments.
Quincy got that dog in him while Michael Norman does not! Quincy is the best 400m sprinter in the world! Put some respect on that man's name from now on. I don't want to hear about Michael Norman anymore. It's all about Q Hall one lap champ!🙏🏾👊🏽
I told you that I am biased: I only cheered and routed for my own country USA!! Hugh Smith well trained, practiced, and prepared in the USA under an American coach internationally who specializes in techniques... Yeah, sll three American athletes were in the top eight contenders and all deserve their accolade and that 400m dash has evolved and will continue to evolve, but it prove that they push each other. It reminded me of Quincy Wilson pushed the season professionals to evolve the 400m dash time at the US OLYMPIC TRIALS... Congratulations to all medalists and those eight contenders who ran an outstanding race!!! 😊 Michael Norman might have an injury to set him back 🔙, but he finished the race and that is important!!! Thanks for sharing though,!!!
What no one is talking about is Quincey’s will to win rubbed off on Muzala Samukonga who was even further behind to surge to win bronze. This is phenomenal
Hall and Hudson-Smith are now number 2 and number 3 all time in terms of Olympic champions times. They beat MJ old OR of 43.49 which was then beat by Wayde in 2016.
This reminds of when a reporter asked QH what he thought about QW and he said who “Big Quincy? I know he’s younger but that’s Big Quincy now, running like that at 15! .” 😂
@@foreverfly3113Thanks for sharing I didn't know this story before. He did 44.2 to beat Deadmond at the Holloway Classic. I just pray that he stays healthy and doesn't get injured and gets a chance at the initial round for the relay to get experience

Jereem's 20.46 1st 200m was INSANE, MHS 20.62 for his 1st 200m was crazy compared to a sensible 21.00 for Hall - 20.8 for MHS in that 1st 200m and he comes away with the Gold Medal! S/O 21yr old Samukonga running back-to-back sub 44s for 3rd & 18yr old NCAA Athlete Sam Ogazi for a really good long season! Does Mike Norman get anywhere near the 4x4 after that performance?! Team for the semi should be Norwood, Q Wilson, Deadmon & Bailey with Rai & Q Hall coming in for the Final.
I agree Michael Norman does not deserve to be on the 4x400. He gave up… no heart. Karati James keep running hard. I was a Michael Norman fan, but now I am throughly disgusted!!!
Kirani James: the oldest person to ever run that fast over 400 meters? Kudos to the "old man." And many thanks to you Anderson. I appreciate you sharing your love and passion for track & field.
The men's 100m, 400m and 1500m were all insanely competitive. Everyone in 100m ran under 10.00. Five men in the 400m were under 44.00. We saw an OR in the 1500 with PB's of all who made the podium. And in an era where drug testing is more sophisticated than ever...incredible!
The media attention that Norman is going to get is going to be crazy in LA '28 this is going to possibly be his last chance to live up to the hype that followed him out of high school.
can be your opinion sure, but 2nd 3rd and 4th here did better or equal to what Kirani James did to get silver in Rio and 5th did what Meritt did to get bronze. That's an unquestionable level of depth that simply cannot be compared to any competition if you look overall, Rio included. But it's a fair take though, Wayde too looked like he was going to be caught in the past straight but he had another surge of energy and pushed away.
The 100 wasn't all that fast though. Kerley did a 9.82, Lyles and Kishane did 9.79 which honestly is not super fast. Let's see the 200 also though, if we can see a fast time across the board for many athletes then maybe it could be the case. But yea thats how the organisers are advertising it.

Well said. It's a beautiful race to watch. Today's race was just out of this world. Likewise the women's 400m hurdles will be a great race.
