Ahh Shaun, thanks for the memories. Glen and I took the train last August, an epic journey. So fun to cross waving at all the folks watching and waving as we went by 😘
Shaun something that I forgot to mention was that growing up up it it had always been passed down on my mom’s side of the family that we were related to someone named James Wilson, and that he had signed our Declaration of Independence. My mom was born in 1924 and could never have even known who James Wilson was. A few years ago years ago I looked him up, and it turned out that he indeed did sign The Declaration of Independence. He was also the main architect of the Executive Branch of our Constitution, and one of the first justices on our Supreme Court. As it turned out, he emigrated from Fife in Scotland.
Love this series so much. I would love to go to my ancestral home of Scotland. I hope I can make it there one day. The landscape is magnificent and makes me feel a lot of pride to have ancestry from there. I especially love the highlands... Love Skye so much... I love the highland coos and all the beautiful rainbows and the mountains and I love the coastal towns. I love the tartan colors and just recently bought a flat cap that is from the Outer Hebrides and I love it... I will have to wear it on my visit to Scotland one day! I really enjoy your vlogs so much! Thank you for sharing this beautiful country with us all ! Blessings
Absolutely loved this mini series. I appreciate all the work you put into your videos and thank you so much for sharing with us. Im hoping to see some later of the spring blooms! Also, a question if you will: does Scotland have any thermal springs? Just curious! Again, thanks Shaun & Teka!!
May I ask you about the intro music. All of my life; here in the southern U.S. I've known that music as the gospel song, Leaning On The Everlasting Arms. Do people in Scotland also sing it, in prayer service? My daughter and I visited Scotland in 2019 and it was our joy to both ride the Jacobite and to climb the hill behind the viaduct, to watch the train go by. That sharp peak in Glencoe is the the Buachaille Etive Mor, the Great Herdsman of Etive. I'll never forget my first sight of it. The summit was wreathed in mist and cloud and it looked like a volcano.
Ooh, Gelnfinnan, did you see Connor Macleod or Duncan Macleod, each of the Clan Macleod? 🙂 I want to go there because a scene from Highlander the movie was recorded there! Loch Shiel is the lake where Connor Macleod is taught how to balance with a sword by his immortal mentor, played by James Bond, I mean, Sean Connery. 🙂 In Glen Coe, the plains below the mountain Buachaille Etive Beag were where Connor "died" in battle (and lived for 400 years afterward). At twelve minutes and 35 seconds into your video, that's the mountain I'm talking about isn't it? to the viewer's left from where you're standing on the road? btw is there a bus that takes one to this area? I recognize it's in the middle of nowhere, so one might have to drive. That would mean I have to learn, lmao. Maybe I can get a taxi to take me there. 😄 Maybe Scotsman tire of Highlander the Movie and Highlander the Series, but the Series was on when I was in high school and I loved it! 🙂Unlike the movie, in which a Frenchman plays a Scotsman, at least in the Series it is a British man, from London! 🙂 I'm like you with Harry Potter, Shaun! I have seen it but I'm not a huge fan. But the train scene of your video was still cool, having seen those movies 🙂
The things & places in these videos are part of my bucket list. So beautiful there. Shaun, have you ever been to the summit of Ben Nevis? It’s also on my list …
There is an area in California called Scotts Valley, that I was reminded of when you were drivng thru the trees at the 5:26 mark. The trees in CA are coastal redwoods, but that sort of drizzly rain felt familiar.
Totally freakin' gorgeous! Too bad about the ferry from Armadale, Sleat... Mallaig is a really cute little seaside town. It's where the train stops. It's worth a visit even without Mr. Potter.
Shaun if the road trip ever became a possibility you could see a part of the country that you have yet to visit. The Rocky Mountains. You could also get to taste what I consider is the most under appreciated cuisine that our country has to offer. That is New Mexican cuisine. It is a combination of Mexican food and Native Navajo food. It evolved almost untouched over the last couple of hundred years.
I love Harry Potter, also. And any train (love trains, too) crossing that bridge would be cool to see. Though I'm curious why that one had the engine on backwards, and why it's black when the Hogwarts express is supposed to be the same color as the cars it tows. That road at the end is so narrow, many rigs from the US would barely fit on it. 😂
I'm the same as you guys...I've tried watching a few Harry Potter movies...and just couldn't get into it. Couldn't see what all the fuss was about. I DO have a branch of my family who are huge fans.
Do you know if the Harry Potter/ Jacobite train will be continuing last March or will the problem with door locks prevent it doing so? I'd really love to go on it but can't make it over there before it might stop
As soon as I saw the thumbnail image, I knew you guys were going to see the Harry Potter train, AKA Hogwarts Express! Very cool, and great scenery. Also, I think you guys were close to Skyfall Road out there. I don't know if you're familiar, but there was a scene in the James Bond film Skyfall that was shot somewhere around that area, and when you mentioned it was Glencoe, I remembered that scene was shot there. I've seen other TH-camrs seek it out to experience the film scene in real life, and when they mentioned Etive, I thought back to this video, and sure enough it was the same place. Any gold at the end of the rainbows?
Shaun, man, you're totally mispronouncing Mallaig. The stress comes at the beginning of the word, not the end. I love your channel, but please learn how to pronounce Scotland's placenames. You have a big influence and if you pronounce them wrong, tourists pronounce them wrong, other Brits who aren't from the Highlands pronounce them wrong, and over time it has a really detrimental impact on our language and placenames. There's loads of resources online that can guide you on pronunciation.

I was truly surprised at how many railfans that were at that bridge. Wonderful scenery! 💖
Ahh Shaun, thanks for the memories. Glen and I took the train last August, an epic journey. So fun to cross waving at all the folks watching and waving as we went by 😘
Glad you liked it Peg :)
The music sounds like the hymn "Leaning On the Everlasting Arms"
A beautiiful steam train.
The “Hogwarts Express!” 😂
I loved this series partly because I was there in October, but also because you were able to enjoy sharing with friends.
Thank you for this series! I am doing a driving tour of Scotland with some family in May. So love seeing some of our destinations in your videos.
Thanks Shaun! Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Love Love LOVE this series. We visited Scotland in 2019 and, though we saw a lot, we only scratched the surface. We will be coming back.

So beautiful, Shaun. Thank you for sharing your country with us.
Love Glencoe ♥️ that is some of the most beautiful scenery 🏴
I’ve hiked this area. I love Scotland!
The trains a pretty neat sight, with or without Harry Po' ' er.

I love trains. Love to ride them or just watch them go by. Great video! Thanks for taking us along. Hope you and Teka are well and happy!
thank you Cathy glad you enjoyed it
It's hard to see leaving all that beautiful scenery to go to some big city with skyscrapers . . .
Love these videos! Scotland was my favorite place to visit but never got to see Skye

Hey Ellie, thanks for watching. No thermal springs is something we don't have - we usually go to Iceland for those. Hope you get to visit

We went to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Speyside and Islay in 2019. Long to go back and see the Highlands and Hebrides.
Well, I spent an hour or so shoveling snow this pm, so this almost looks tropical, Shaun! Thanks for taking us along!
This was last year I'm sure in like late September I'm guessing. I like to make guesses lol.
Ahh i heard you guys are getting lots of snow. Hope you're nice n warm at home
@shaunvlog thx, I am for the moment
@@Steve-318 no, you're not wrong, the colors say fall
I love the music. I feel like I’m watching my favorite movie, True Grit.
I so enjoyed this 4 part series on the Highlands :) what a spectacular country you call home! Thank you! 🙏🏼
I just love where you two live♥️
Thanks for all of your beautifully presented videos . It is always appreciated & such a treat to learn and watch about where my ancestors came from ❤
Beautiful!

Ramsey & Strachan signing on here.
I've ridden the Durango to Silverton Colorado train a few times. Worth the ride.
Would definitely love to do that!!!
It just seems so piece full there
Like the Hogwarts Express ❤❤

Stunning!

Wow just wow --so beautiful!!!
Very beautiful country.

I love trains, is that one steam powered? Very cool.
yeah it's a tourist train now - a nice wee ride from Ft William

I would love that - New Mexico might be in the plans this year
@@shaunvlog if you do go later this year, I’m pretty familiar with the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area. The rest of the state, not so much.
Oh I heard you just call it the Harry Potter train lol
I love Harry Potter, also. And any train (love trains, too) crossing that bridge would be cool to see.

i'm not sure about the technical details of the train to be honest, but i do know you can ride on it along the coast and it's supposed to be lovely
There's no turntable at Mallaig anymore, so the loco has to run backwards on the journey back to Fort William.
trainspotters !
I'm the same as you guys...I've tried watching a few Harry Potter movies...and just couldn't get into it. Couldn't see what all the fuss was about. I DO have a branch of my family who are huge fans.
yeah! But the bridge was a big part of the films and the fans love to see it
I'm not a HP fan, either. You're a good host, Shaun
Thanks Linda

That Harry Potter train viewing is not the same with out the millions of migies in June 😂 I got bit a few thousand times waiting for that damn train.
oh yeah, the midgies are fierce!!!

oh yeah, i usually mention Skyfall but forgot on this occasion. Love the film and love that location!!
Is that the train to Harry Potter school?
You obviously are not a Harry Potter fan. That IS the Hogwarts Express train.
Yes indeed
11:40 that's the Skyfall road, isn't it?
Someone cosplay Harry Potter and Ron Wesley.
Because they missed the train
As an American I find myself cringing as i watch you drive. Lol 😂
